3 weeks post gallbladder removal

Hi, I had my gallbladder removed 3 weeks ago via keyhole surgery, as soon as i returned to ward i was very drowsy, couldn't stay awake for longer than 5 mins, BP was low, was very cold, had been sick 3 times was still discharged same day, ended up back in a&e next day as could only stay awake long enough to be sick, sorry folks but each time I was sick it was getting darker in green colour, almost khaki green, filling 3-4 kidney bowls at a time, given fluid transferred to trauma hospital as skin was turning yellow, kidney and liver function dropping, was given more fluids and and anti sickness and when could hold fluids down surgeons explanation was he doesnt know if I was taken out of anesthetic properly or I reacted to it, surgeon felt my stomach said it was fine and was discharged again, all within 48hrs, as each day goes on I feel weaker and fatigued, bp still seems low as constantly getting lightheaded whether im sitting or standing, passing urine 1-2 times a day, urine very dark and not a lot, drinking plenty of water, have constant nausea and when I can eat I have diarrhoea about 10 mins after finishing, have strange taste in my mouth, like sugary metallic taste and no matter what I do I cant get it away, im always cold to extent hands and feet are turning purple, having sweats, be soaking but body still very cold, to touch, whites of eyes are a yellow colour, have constant crushing pain in right ribs just below my breast, constant dull pain where gallbladder was, cant walk to far as pressure from pain in ribs restricts my breathing, cant sit for long as get very uncomfortable, cant lie down for long, cant stand for long, have barely slept since surgery, dont see gp for another 2 weeks as only appointment available and dont want to go to a&e as they will probaly just do the same thing and send me home none of the wiser surely this isn't normal, I feel 100 times worse from surgery than I ever did before it, is this normal after gallbladder removal, was told I could return to work in 2 weeks, only medication I'm taking is nexam and paracetamol, is this something you arent told about, is this side effects of gallbladder removal
sorry so long, but I'm getting very down, agitated and my anxiety disorder is through the roof with the pain in

hey am sorry your going through this but you should get your liver check because maybe your liver is been affected by the removal of the gallbladder but you need plenty of rest and lots of water to drink please take it easy, your body needs lots of recovering and your liver will need adjustment as well my liver result were abnormal before removal plus symptoms thats why my dr sent me to a surgeon even after gallbladder surgery my liver results were still abnormal but i recently had another test done and it seems my test came back normal so i guess my liver needed to adjust to its new environment that the gallbladder is no longer there to help with digestion but please voice your concerns to your doctor dont stop until you find answer, and remember you had surgery done so your body is going through a great deal

Hello,
I'm so sorry to hear of your troubles.
Did the docs look for a bike leak? I suffered a bike leak after my surgery, and 8 1/2 years of infections in my blood later, I am getting a liver transplant on July 3rd.
If you haven't already, demand you get some kind of imaging done. It's very important.
Hope things get figured out. Keep us posted.

I would go back to consultant hun. it sounds like your liver is the problem
I was jaundiced before my OP and urine orange tizer colour, yellow eyes and a disgusting tan colour of my skin. it took at least 2 wks to improve. I lost 1 stone in 3 weeks.. awful.
I'm co completely fine after OP.. that was 3 yrs ago. please go back hunx

Hi Evelyn so sorry to hear what you have been through and still dealing with. the guys on here are great and have made a lot of valid points. The Liver does become distressed due to the surgery, but the Bile duct can also play a big part in problems either through an obstruction or after surgery.
my surgery was last year July 2018, i have been having symptoms very similar to what the call Billary Cholic which caused the upper quadrant pain in the area of where your Gaulbladder was and differed pain to the shoulder Girdle area, through to the back. again with symptoms sickness, temperature hot/cold. Loose stools. other things i was asked did my stools float in the toilet which was an indication of Bile not breaking down the fats in the foods we consume.
Please make sure your doctor writes tothe hospital to get an urgent appointment to conduct tests to look at the different ducts, thats what i am having done. Although the ultra sound scans are good they don't always pick up on if there is Billary sludge not the best name i know.
Also they have done numerous blood tests to look at the Liver, and Pancreas. cannot remember them all. Please make sure that you are seen sooner than later! keep us posted we are all here for you, good luck and get some results and action to sort this terrible situation out with these awful reactions you are going through.
something clearly needs addressing and soon kind regards JO X

thank you for replying, I wont be leaving my gp until he does referrals to somewhere, not only is pain in my ribs unbearable it seems to affect my breathing, the more pressure there is in the ribs the harder it is to breath

Hi Evelyn, i really do empathize with you, have you had any x rays done, everything needs to be looked at, my hospital x rayed my chest everything when i first had the pains in my chest area or as they term it the upper quadrant area.
I really hope that this awful discomfort your going through is investigated fully. i also went through something similar after the operation from the gases that are placed in the abdomen to extend it to enable them to access the internal organs.
I used activated charcoal capsules that was recommended to me. these capsules worked really well and they help to absorb these gases after surgery that can cause a lot of pain and discomfort, for several days.
But i would speak to your doctor, before taking anything to always seek medical advice firstly before doing anything. The other thing that helped me post op was a support cushion, triangle shaped, best way to describe it that supported me in bed and gave me a lot more comfort sitting up sleeping for the first month or more and with staples in my stomach at the time.
I found it very uncomfortable to turn on my side in bed. also helped with the gases left in my body post op.
I try and give and tips that helped me and still do. I can empathize with others going through the effects of health concerns and the anxiety that this can cause.
hope you get some relief from this difficult time your going through keep positive and make sure that you get the medical help needed.
kind regards JO X

I really think you need to see a doctor ASAP. I do not think you should just wait at the convenience of your GP, but ask for an emergency appointment. Dark urine and little of it is a sign of kidney problems, and as others have mentioned, there are also signs of liver problems. My cousin waited for almost a week before seeking help and was kept in for 12 days, very ill, with pancreatitis, liver, kidney, heart and lung problems, all resulting from her diseased gall bladder. She eventually had her gall bladder removed and that too had complications and a further 10 day stay, but after 4 months is much better. For the first 6 weeks she did say she felt like she would never recover. I hope you get answers and feel better soon.

I don't know where you live but to me a 2 week wait is not an emergency appointment. I do hope you keep pushing and get answers sooner.
