4 weeks post op and stomach swelling

Hi I am 4 weeks after a abdominal hysterectomy (still got ovaries). I thought I had been recovering well with no pain and no complications until now. I have started to experience stabbing(stinging) pains around my incision and my stomach swells by the end of the day. I am not lifting but walking around a lot. Could it be that??
Thanks

You're welcome. I know the feeling. It is such an odd feeling in there and nobody can understand it unless they go through it.

I'm 3 weeks post op. I had large fibroids. I had a laparoscopic hysterectomy. I still have my ovaries. I'm experiencing sharp pains as well. It's concerning because I haven't had this pain before. in fact, I thought my recovery was going unusually well. I expected more pain earlier vs 3 weeks in. I feel a little better knowing I'm not alone. Is it normal to feel good enough to do a little more than just lay around? I guess this is normal. ugh! I'm bored to death and I just want to get better.

Hi there! So I am officially 12 weeks post op and what you're writing at 3 weeks, I think I experienced the same thing. I had same surgery but with one ovary taken. I made a point to walk EVERY DAY. I think once I hit 4 weeks, I was doing a mile a day. This seemed to help (in my personal experience in the recovery process). I just happened to go for my Annual Yearly Visit and my GYN said I was healing just fine and even at 12 weeks, I still sometimes get random twinges of pain. She said this is normal and that I may still feel it for months after. Others who have had the surgery reminded me we've had major surgery and so it's normal to feel this pain. Just be patient! You will get there!

Hi. I'm at 16 weeks now. I had an abdominal hysterectomy though so I still experience a lot of discomfort. I can only go on outings that will not last more than 3 hours otherwise I suffer for 2 days.
My doc says discomfort will last for up to a year.

Hi guys me from a few weeks ago
I'm now 11 weeks post op. After a few hicups I'm OK....... I had my gp check me out at 8 weeks and I had intercourse for the 1st time at 9 weeks, I was so scared but for the 1st time in over 15 years I had no pain while having sex.
I also do pelvic floor excersise every day. I'm still bloated and unfortunately put on half a stone but I'm sure it's because I'm not doing much. I'm on hrt for the rest of my life I've been told which I'm not happy about. I see my consultant 20th January. I still get the odd twinge but back to work next week xxx

Oh wow, thank you Janette, I am thrilled to hear this about your experience with intercourse...I haven't had any in several months, due to the discomfort i was in before surgery, and it's only been 4.5 weeks since I had my hysterectomy, so I am still very hesitant. Truthfully I have been having pain during sex for at least a couple years, and it is likely due to the fibroid and IUD which I kept in longer than i should've. I would love have enjoyable intercourse experience again! You have given me hope and something to look forward to when my healing period has ended!

I'm so glad I found this forum I'm 6 weeks after laparoscopy hysterectomy surgery ovaries in tact but I feel the same stinging pains that sometimes stop me in my tracks and swollen tight tummy at times. my doctor says its nerve pain and to be expected because I'm still healing. I also had extreme insomnia 2nd week after surgery thank God that's gone. still can't sleep on my side which is driving me nuts. every morning I have to take a hot shower and let the water run on my back due to pain in my lower back. I know this is major surgery just a little impatient with the healing process. for awhile there I thought it was just me. Its reassuring to know its not.

I was in so much pain. its just frustrating when your active and now can't be as you were. I too feel fat ughh

Also since having the awful catheter I ended up with a bladder infection and had to re train my bladder, even now I struggle having a wee, it's intermittent especially in the morning xx
