After H Pylori

Hi everyone,I have posted here before,I have been treated for h pylori, antibiotics and lansoprazole.Prior to treatment I had complete loss of appetite and loss of weight.Although by force feeding I am keeping my weight between 117 pounds and 118.I still have no appetite, most worrying is I am losing body fat,I am so skinny, weak, tired of fighting this, feel like giving up at times.I have a appt to see specialist but that is nearly two months away,I do not think I will make it that long.I was a size 14 now size 8-10.my skin is wrinkled,I am now just getting over vaginal thrush, but now have soreness around that area and itchy rear end.I just wonder if I might have a different infection caused by h pylori,or it has damaged my tummy so badly.I am small framed so it is very obvious of my fat loss, now wear big jumpers etc as people ask what is wrong with me all the time, has anyone ever experienced this? I would be so greatfull for any advice .Thank you.

I'm so sorry you're having such a difficult time. I hope you have a positive update to give.

I had H pylori in October of last year and was treated with antibiotics. I also had an endoscopy done because the pain in my upper mid stomach area never went away. Still to this day, I still have horrible pain most of every day. My endoscopy came back fine with just some inflammation in my small intestines. My stomach constantly feels hard and is just so sensitive and painful. I've read most of the comments and notice everyone has weight loss, I don't have that problem... it's just the pain is so unbearable.... does anyone else have this awful constant pain?

I also watch what I eat as some foods make the pain worse. Going to see my Dr again ugh!

I don't see anyone saying they've tried cabbage juice, and I only mention this because  I've have an upper GI bleed 9 times. Started 3 years ago. Sometimes 2 times in a year.  7 of those times I had to have a blood transfusion. A doc said I had AVM (arterial vein malformation) - he did a laser treatment on my stomach, then said he found  an ulcer but it might have stopped bleeding by the time he looked at it in the endoscopy. So he wasn't sure it was the problem. But the lasering didn't work so that was not the problem, as i bled again after the procedure.

I don't have pain - just the bleed. I recently read a book on gut problems and one of the suggestions was fermented cabbage juice (saurkrat juice) for ulcers.  I hadn't had a bleed for over 6 months thought I was doing great. And saturday got that pounding in my gums and black stool so I knew I was bleeding again.  I purchased a fermented cabbage juice bottle (Gut Shot) at the health food store - I drank just one gulp every couple hours and damn if I didn't stop bleeding in 1 day.  And usually I bleed for a min of 4 or 5 days before I've lost enough blood they will take me in the emerg room at the hospital to get blood. By monday I had lighter stool and tues completely back to brown, and I felt better so i know I wasn't bleeding any more. And out of 9 times, this has never happened- that I stop bleeding in 1 day.

I called a friend of mine to tell him about the results as I know he had an ulcer and he told me he's been drinking raw cabbage juice for 6 weeks and has completely cured his ulcer.  So there is something to this. I think I like saurkrat over just raw cabbage so sticking to my fermented juice as I think it has more enzymes and easier to take a shot of it.   But just google ulcer and cabbage and tons of sites and info will come up.  It really was amazing.  I don't think I will have another bleed again. Ever.

I have been cured of h-pylori back in July almost 6 months ago and felt no better.  I made them test me 2 more times then had an endoscopy and colonoscopy in October and all was clear.  Still my stomach was sick, and constant diarrhea.  I have been searching the internet for months and was convinced that it had to be Candita from the potent antibiotics I had to take back in July.  I  have been taking probiotics since I took the antibiotics however they couldn’t of been strong enough finally on the Internet I found someone with the same symptoms and of course they were selling a probiotic but this one apparently had 17 different strains and I thought if this can’t help me nothing well so I tried it but the thing is you have to cut out sugar you cannot have sugar because the bad bacteria feeds on sugar candida feeds on sugar so if you going to take the probiotics you need to cut out the sugar I did that with those probiotics and within the month I feel absolutely back to normal!  I’m sure that’s why most of you are still Sickand I don’t understand why these gastroenterologists don’t realize this.

You’re right Lorraine I’ve just tested this theory out. It was too soon for me to eat what I did coming off the 3 course treatment.

    Hi tasha156,

I just got off the treatment for H.pylori one month ago, I lost only 10 pounds but I already more than recovered it. I was feeling well but then I drunk red wine and everything worsened: heartburn, mild stomach pain, burping, reflux acid, etc. I didn't do endoscopy yet; it is scheduled for Mach 14th. I find that I get better when I eat regularly, even if it is a small amount of food. But I keep eating every 3 hours. I am now weight more than just prior to the diagnose of H.pylori. I did get a really bed allergic reaction, itching and urticaria all over my body, a surge in Candida albicans, and I got to big deep bumps in my crack, that would itchy to the point I could make it bleed. I got prescribed "Betaderm cream 0,1% - Betamethasone Valerate" and it made the itching go away in a few days. Now I have this upset stomach, bouncing between mild diarrhoea and constipation, pain in the descending colon, and I am really afraid I have something more serious, since my father died in the same age I am now from cancer in the stomach. You gotta eat, even if you don't have any appetite. Sending you good vibes!

      Dear Antonio,

It gets better in time.  I went through all of that last year.  Lost 25kg and gained 30kg afterwards.  I had most of those symptoms that you are describing to a tee.  I became allergic to shell fish, and sometimes after eating something sugary my legs started itching.  The upset stomach, diarrhoea, constipation, pain in the descending colon etc are all just signs that the bacteria in your gut is returning to normal.  Use a good probiotic to assist the good bacteria. I also drank kefir (a drink made of goat's milk that we get here in Greece and contains many good probiotic agents and also litres of Aloe Vera juice. It took three months for my stomach to return to normal. Just don't stop eating regularly, try mastic gum as well.  Good luck!

Hi Antonio, you’ve been the first person I’ve seen on this site that has suffered in a similar way to the bacteria as I have. Before being diagnosed believed I had bed bugs or something was biting me then the results came back and the results of my reactions all over my body that kept repeating was this h.pylori. Before diagnosis I bought some kefir that helped the stomach pains I was experiencing prior and the thrush that went away like Tasha, but came back as I went through the 3 course treatment that forbade diary products. Finished the treatment on Friday February 16 and I refuse to do it again as I was nauseated all day, had pain and number 2s that hurt to pass due to irritated bowels. Although oddly I had no odor when using restrooms that was the only plus. A few days before I ended treatment had some sushi and woke up to 6 reactions.  I’ve never had an issue with fish, but might have to shellfish now.  Since being diagnosed I quit smoking cigarettes and marijuana (although that helped me one day during treatment for the nausea). As well stopped drinking. Out of fear I’ve limited what I eat and drink. I came on here today registered just to reply to your reply to Tasha.  Had some chocolate covered raisins and hot cocoa last night and woke up to two reactions so Lomon might have hit it on the nail.  What I’d like to know is what diet are you on that helps?

Lomon I’m going to try adding the Aloe Vera with the kefir and see if it helps. In general how do you eat? Find it hard to figure out what’s best to eat and not to. Have been eating more apples. I’ve cut out so much, even fear eating too much meat. Seems my bacteria got ignited from drinking some old contaminated wine.
