All confirmed for tomorrow

I've just phoned the ward and have to go in at 9am instead of 7am.  Better for my son who will be taking me.  They will do the admission procedure in a side room until my bed is ready then that's the bed I'll be going to theatre in.  I'm very relieved it's not going to be postponed or cancelled.  See you all on the other side eek

It's that weird mix of excitement, horror, hope and fear but I only had to get up from a chair to remind me that it was the only choice and this was the future.

As everyone says the first two-ish weeks are tough but this week, 16 days on, I have been out for lunch and taken a walk down the lane and came back and cooked dinner.

Load up your TV planner with all those films you've been meaning to watch but prepare to attempt them 3 or 4 times because of nap interuptions.

My love and light are with you, Cels, you'll be great xxxx

This morning I remembered to move my DVD player up a shelf on the TV stand so I can reach it, and drag all my DVDs from under the bed onto the bed in the spare room.  Lots to remember when you're going it alone although I have a little support network of friends and family.

Just one little boast, nothing to do with hips, but my 10 year old grandson has been picked from all the schools in the county to run in the cross-country nationals.  I'm so proud cheesygrin

Thanks all.  I have frozen peas (forgot to get ice packs) and the Co-op didn't sell them.  I'm not nervous really, I just hope I'm properly asleep and don't hear any sawing or hammering.  I'm having spinal and sedation, as much sedation as they'll give me lol.  I probably won't sleep much tonight although I feel very tired at the moment, I might surprise myself.

I might have time to pop on in the morning before my son picks me up.  Please don't tell me about the coffee and toast you've all had for brekkie.

At least with the later admittance I'll have time for a shower without having to rush around too much.    Am now staring at my bags and wondering what I've forgotten confused

Good luck, as the others say the first couple of weeks are hard, but you will get there.

I had to be in for 7am but because I wasn't going in until the afternoon I was allowed some toast and water at about 9am I went for my op at 3pm and walked down.

I didn't remember a thing. I brought a few things w me, but barely used anything. Between, check getting my meds and vitals checked, a few visitors and the bloody exercises I had all I could manage to sleep. I personally was a write -off for reading and this was true for most of the next week despite some very 'tasty' books donated by friends.

      Take care my fellow hippy.

For bag packing, apart from toiletries, nightwear, hairbrush and change of clothes I took my dressing gown, which I didn't need as the toilet was right next to our ward, so sent it back home and didn't need a towel as they provided them for showers. Though I don't know if they do that at your hospital.  Took plenty of flannels. Had a bedbath.  Also took magazines but too zonked and obs etc to bother at first. Do a lot of sleeping those first few days.

No wifi in hospital so it will probably be on my return home, but I'm looking forward to posting from the other side of the fence.
