An Experiment with Borax

Posted , 187 users are following.

So, I've been in Vietnam now for just over a month. Haven't had any itching, but the white plaque has expanded and looked like a bit more fusing had occured. Panic set in and of course I was trying not to. However, now that we're here, my husband has been able to start doing more research to help me. And he came across some stuff about borax. So we started an experiment 6 days ago. Not using any steroids, but instead each morning and night he's applying to one side a saturated borax solution and the other side a saturated baking soda solution (as we'd read that some people found baking soda helpful). We've been taking photos in order to compare as we progress. As mentioned, we are on day 6 and there is honestly some change! My clitoris which was quite white has returned to pink. And while the whole area still has some white, the pink is really starting to move in more. The biggest changes are on the side with the borax, with some change on the side with the baking soda (but since some of the borax can get rubbed off on that baking soda side we can't say for certain that the baking soda is having a major effect). We are feeling optimistic about this and I will keep everyone posted. During the day I do continue to add vitamin E oil to keep moisturized.

    hi,

just wanting an update on your condition now.

Did you continue with borax treatment and did your white patches

    diminish permanently?

Could you tell me please how you applied it?

Do you mix the borax with water?

    Thanks

I feel pretty normal. I check pretty regularly as I don't use the borax treatment now unless I have a flare-up, and those have dimished greatly. I attribute that to living a life with as minimal stress as possible. If I feel a flare starting, I start spritzing after each toilet visit - I originally started application with a q-tip, eventually moving on to a dampened cloth of the borax treatment when I saw that the treatment was working. Now, as mentioned, that I'm living pretty LS free, I just spritz when necessary - I've got the mixture in a glass spray bottle. And yes, I mix the borax with the water. Essentially I've added borax to the water, stirred or shaken (no preference unlike 007) until the borax has dissolved. I then will add a bit more, stir/shake to dissolve, and once no more will dissolve, ie. there's some borax sitting on the bottom of the bottle what won't dissolve no matter the vigorous stir/shake, then I know my batch is ready. Hope this helps!

Hi everyone, well I did get hold of some borax via EBay and dissolved appropriately two teaspoons in a plastic water bottle (the size we can buy from a newsagents). For two weeks I rinsed down below about 3 times per day whilst sitting in the loo. But I was so disappointed to find myself actually getting red and sore just around the entrance to my vagina. My LS is quite mild and I just have the white patches on the outside and the only soreness I have is after intercourse. I am not sure if I have mixed it too strongly and should I have just dabbed it into the white areas? I am quite wary of trying it again. I do use a regular bicarb rinse in the same way and this

seems to soothe but I can't say the white bits are fading but then again they haven't got any worse.

My experience, Jill, is that this is a slow process and that too much doesn't do it.  For me two teaspoons would be too much, I use three pinches for bathroom rinsing  and 1/6 cup in a bath.  Keeps all nice.  Provided,  I stick to my diet as well.

Ok thank you for the advice, I will try again from tomorrow and see how I get on. Fingers crossed... if it doesn't work for me I've been googling how to use it outside to get rid of the ants! smile

Hi Mary. I didn't suffer any pain, but the intense itching was definitely a type of annoying pain! Hopefully someone else will be able to give you information on that.

      Hello.

I have been following this blog for a while and I am so thankful for all of your posts.

My story started about 4-5 years ago. I have refused methotrexate and retinyl a drugs from an immune dermatologist. I have tried the steroid routine with no real improvement.

My fifteen year relationship has ended because of my inability to have sexual intercourse. Which is painful on many levels.

I have borax available to me but I am unsure of the "recipe" for use. Please review that for me and the others just connecting.

Also I would appreciate any comments on PRP injections into the lichen slerisis areas.  It is a natural treatment using your own plasma.

I thank each and everyone on their lichen sclerosis journey.

Rosemary I am very sorry you relationship has ended, but rest assured that LS didn’t cause it. A better one is around the cornerwink

Itis exlained many times in this thread how to prepare and apply the concentrated borax.

You need to keep stirring borax in water till it can’t dissolve any longer. Till you see borax at the bottom of the cup not being able to dissolve any more. Then you apply this with a piece of cloth on your white patches, morning and evening.  I apply it to the all area, since I don’t have any more white skin, and is not irritating at all for me.

Endure the pain at first and keep coming back to borax because it will be worth it.

20 minutes after applying it, put some olive oil or any other kind of oil you feel good with to keep it moisturized.

      Good luck 🍀

      Hi Rosemary,

As Era said, there is definitely a better partner out there for you, one who will be able to support you and help you in the ways you need. That certainly won't make this any easier, but one day you will look back and realize your partner did the right thing because this is NOT the person you want in your life.

Anyway, Era has also described exactly how to make the saturated solution. Slowly add borax to water, stirring until it has dissolved. When it will no longer dissolve the water is saturated with borax, meaning it can not absorb any more. Some women don't make it a saturated solution, the start with just a little bit and work their way up. We're all a little different. But I do hope this works for you as is has for so many of us.

I unfortunately am unable to comment about PRP injections. Hopefully someone else can shed some light on that for you.

Any further questions, don't hesitate to ask!
