Any advice please? 8weeks on 50mg sertraline

Posted , 7 users are following.

hello my good friends

I have been taking sertraline for 8weeks now and I went to go get my new batch of tablets today and they're in a completely different box and branding, I know this may sound stupid to some of you but I don't like tablets it took me over a week to pluck up the courage to take my first tablet when I got put on them, I have got used to taking them now and now I face this dilemma of the new packaging and branding even the box is smaller than my usual ones, does this mean I will have to go through all the side effects again and feel really bad again, any words and advice will be appreciated

Thankyou all

Hi Jordy, what is the new branding?

Hi it's called "ranbaxy" my old ones were called "aurobindo"

There won't be any difference in the two, the only change is the brand. Pharmacists will administer the brand they have readily available, so it could vary as there are many different brands. So long as it is still sertraline, it'll be okay :-)

I disagree with Kage100, taking a different brand of Sertraline 'can' give you undesirable effects.... take a look at this link:

Hi Blu, thanks for the link! That's interesting, I've had different brands of the same SSRI in the past and didn't suffer any effect.

I suppose like all things it does vary from person to person.

Hey Kage, you're absolutely correct... no everyone suffers if the brand is changed but it appears lots do!!

I hate them changing the brand and I wong have it as you can tell a difference I did badly on citalopram so I always got them from same chemist. The pharmacy tried to say there is the exact same ingredients but if the brand is a cheaper one for them to buy why is it cheaper try your best to stay on same brand

I had this problem and I asked my doctor to give me a closed prescription for the brand I was issued with: I gatebtaking tablets and this was the only way I was going to keep taking them! I have health anxiety and changing the tablets would have made a difference and I also know branding can have effects.

I have experienced a different brand, I have been on Lustral made by pfizer since March last year and last month they changed the brand to Dr Reddy's, there is definatley a different, and there is lots of anecdotal evidence on this stie to support this, bacisally the drug should be the same, but some how it is different. My GP now prescribes Lustral for me. Good luck

Well,Ive had numerous different brands been on Sertraline 5mths. No difference what so ever. I'm on Accord at moment. Try not to get over anxious, very when suffering from anxiety. I hate taking tablets so find it difficult.

5 months on, now on 100mg. Sertraline what ever brand has helped me so much.

Percevere, chemist stock what ever the cheapest. All best Claire.

Hi Claire, I'm pleased to read that whatever brand of Sertraline you've been on has made no difference to you... you're one of the lucky ones. However many people do suffer if their brand is changed, including me!! Not that we want Jordy to get over anxious but it's better she knows what 'could' happen because we don't want her to start feeling better then her brand of Sertraline is changed and she starts suffering side effects again. She might not but better to be forewarned 😃
