Anyone NOT had any side effects on Citalopram?

Hi there,
After much deliberation, talking to just about anyone I could find and generally scouring the internet for information, I have decided to go with the Docs advice and take Citalopram, starting today. And then I found this site....
Has anyone NOT had any side effects on this? It is making me feel very worried about taking it. Am I just going to have to sit tight and presume the worst? Are there people who take it and dont feel nauseous and tired or even worse to begin with?
I would really appreciate any comments.
Thanks
M

I'm glad you're not feeling sick atm Shane, finger crossed it lasts
I've been trying to drink water (but I'm not very good at it) and Ribena, I drink a lot of tea too.
I still can't eat easily either, Anne, I've been doing the same with the vitamin C drinks too. I'm still feeling a bit blergh (for lack of a better word!) but nowhere near as bad as yesterday, so hopefully it's just an off couple of days!
Hope you both have a good day!

That's good you are feeling a bit better to day I seem to have an appetite back but don't know what I want to eat I want to eat fruit but can't be bothered going to shop. To top it all I just got my job offer today and should start next week so feeling on edge again .
Holly tea is ok in small amounts but as it contains caffeine you have to be carful as caffeine is not good for stress I drink mainly water as orange juice etc plays my stomach acid up .
When I goto the shop I think no will get some green tea as it's better.
Anne how are you today ?
Take care shane

Yeah, I try to drink mostly green tea, as I'm steering clear of coffee and normal tea for the most part.
Take care

I've been having a strange (what I assume is) side-effect lately, I used to have 'anxiety' dreams all the time, which was part of my problem and part of why my Doctor prescribed Citalopram (although he did warn it could make nightmares worse) They were dreams with totally different scenarios, sometimes horrific, sometimes normal but I'd be feeling so frightened and anxious all the way through all of them that I'd wake up feeling exhausted every morning. My Dr. and therapist aren't too sure what they meant as of the last time I spoke to them but they both thought it might have something to so with the reason I've been feeling this way. When I started the Citalopram my nightmares stopped straight away, but since day 6 (I'm now on day 10) I've been having a recurring 'anxiety' dream every night. Different people are involved in different settings, but it's the same thing, over and over again. Has anyone had recurring dreams as a side-effect of my Citalopram? I see my Doctor again in two weeks, and I'm waiting on my therapist getting back to me to tell me when my treatment is (She's talking about setting up some EMDR therapy for me, but that might take Months) I gave it a search online, but it didn't turn up much for me, only that it can cause nightmares. I didn't find anything inparticular about recurring dreams. Since about day 4 of the Citalopram I've found I was thinking a lot more clearly, my brain wasn't fuzzy/foggy etc & it was a couple of day s after that my dreams started. I know that my therapist is concerned I could be suffering from PTSD as I can't remember my childhood, so I know it could all go back to that, but if any-one else has recurring dreams as a symptom, I'd love to hear about it!
(I'm sorry for the looooong, rambling post!)

That sounds awful I can't say I have had any sort of bad dreams that I can remember . The way this is effecting me the most is the fatigue I sleep through the night but wake up about 6.30 and feel like I have never been to sleep then I am tired all day . I have to work next week and am terrified I won't wake up and be late and get fired . Apart from the dreams how had it been ?
I have not heard from Anne I hope she got to Ireland safe .
Take care Shane

Thanks for the reply!
It's rubbish you're worried about missing your alarm, I imagine that doesn't help you feel rested when you wake up in the morning! I'd try to focus on the fact even though it's something I'd worry about to, that in reality they're hardly likely to fire you for being late
It's been good thank you, apart from the dreams. Just trying to figure out the root of the problem and then hopefully I'll start to feel better. I have my odd days where I'm really jittery but on the whole it's good
How are you?
Me neither, I'm sure she's enjoying herself! :D

Shane you will wake up for your job, set ur alarm to go off a few times, I use my mobile and set 3 alarms, I wake up no problem, practice ur alarm a few times this week, day 13 today, and feeling a bit better,, but my tinnitus is driving me mad when trying to sleep
Holly cant say I have had any really bad dreams (actually I did just once but not since thankful), its a shame as looks like ur remembering yours, push for treatment from your Doc, just keep going to them and asking for help,
Well hope all is improving for all of us, we deserve it !!! been through hell so now we want to move on, and just live a normal life x
Anne

I take mine in the morning all the time as my doctor told me they are a stimulant so could keep me awake, try changing to the morning, take the sleeping tablet just for 2 days to give u a really good sleep and things will be better once u have had a sleep, but only use as a temp measure, I sleep at night as I take Cit in the morning, so worth a try. Day 18 and a bit better but no normal feelings back yet ?? so don't give up Shane we are still new to these tabs and have come so far !!!
take care and let me know how you go
