Hi Lynne good luck with your surgery.  I was banded the end of November last year.  ive lost 4stone so far and its the best thing ive ever done.  I can remember the first few days after thinking what have I done!  should i have done this, but realise I would never have lost the weight without it.  I am gradually getting my life back and wish I had done it 10 years earlier.  Its not a quick solution and you need to just take things day by day.  Rebecca has given great advice with windeze and varying your diet - liquids of shakes soups and angel delight!  Its a learning curve and you do have good and bad days - chocolate is easy to suck and goes down great!  remember to start walking when you feel up to it and up the ante every now and again.  Theres lots of support out there and you will do fine xx

    Hi Lynne

I had my band fitted last Tuesday, I felt exactly like you! everyone feel apprensive in some way its a life changing thing.  This is for your new life!!! thats what I am telling myself every day.  I have been out walking everyday for an hour for the past 3 days, its put me in great spirits! I needed windeze for first 5 days then I was ok.  I agree with Jebo, veryone needs a treat mine is either 2 squares of chocolate or a scoop of icecream with chocolate sauce and a horlicks.  I have lost 1stone 4lbs so far.  Good luck for tomorrow.  And dont worry it will be fine and you will be back home before you know it :-)

Hi guys - day 4 - managed to do a small walk today but on the whole getting there! Strange feeling and getting used to the band! Haven't had much in the way of shakes and soups but hoping to be more successful tomorrow - I think the apprehension is worse than the actual birth of Lucy Lastic - I don't fit well with anaesthetic and had a bad reaction! Hope you are all having a successful week and feeling good - I am hoping to lose 4 stone and maintain to keep it off! I am a total yo yo dieter- the usual fat / thin wardrobe when I sit between a size 8 and 18!!! So I have de-robbed de-junked and de-livered my fat clothes to the charity shop :-))))))

Heres to our dreams ladies and gents xx

    Hi Lynne,

The best thing the first few days is a lot of walking, peppermint tea and gripe water.I did have a lot of air trapped after the surgery but it did get better.

      Hi Lynne

I am doing very well. So far have lost 43 pounds. Feeling great. Doing a lot of exercise. Once the healing was over I did feel very hungry so have been counting colorise as well.

I am feeling great. I had a really stressful week at work and home and could not get food down so stayed on soft food and soup.

Hi - good idea to stick with the soft food - how long after the opp did it take for you to be in the gym or swim?

Whilst I am walking 2 miles a day now I'm really wanting to start an exercise plan however I am conscious it is only 2 weeks tomorrow since my opp.

    Hi Lynne

I feel like you, I love resistance training I have to wait at least another 8 weeks.  Swimming not good until you are properly healed, my physio said no excerise other than walking for 4 weeks min.  I bought some hand weights and wrist weights and I hill walk, try that for now.  I felt frustrated, however my husband pointed out how frustrated i'd be if i did any damage and had to start all over again, however I am going to start doing some excercise video's from next week and walking.  Start swimming maybe in a couple of weeks.  Everyone is different, you know your own body, see what its telling you, but remember those cuts take longer to heal from the inside thats why they say 12 weeks.  I hope that this helps jo. ;-)

Hi all, hope you don't mind if I join in? I just had my band fitted on weds (Friday now). It's so encouraging reading how you are all getting on. At the moment I guess I'm still in the very early sore stages! I have lots of wind in my upper body and when I walk around I gag! Not nice! I have only managed an orange juice and half a cup a soup since the op and a few glasses of water and absolutely terrified to eat or drink because of this horrid pain!

      Hi Isabella

the pain and wind does relieve day by day and maybe suggest renee deflatine- that seemed to help me immensely. Don't worry about the not eating at first guess quiet normal after surgery - do try tho to get liquids down you and also a good quality vit - either liquid or dissolvable.

i am walking a lot now even though 16 days on am still quite tired - have lost a stone in 3 weeks - yippee!

keep me posted as to how u r getting on!

      best of luck

      xx
