Being re-referred to hospital
Posted , 9 users are following.
Hello girls ( and gentlemen!)
Have just gotten back from seeing my doc who is very concerned about what has been going on over the past four weeks.
She has put me up to 20mg and is re-referring me urgently to the hospital as she wants me to have further scans etc as she is concerned that something might have been overlooked.
She has also asked me to have a blood test to ascertain my 'levels' ( cannot remember what they are called at the moment) even though the past two have shown no significant rise in markers.
She will also see me in three weeks time.
She agreed that the drop from 15 to 10 was far too precipitous and that this has given rise to the problems I have been having..... BUT the 15mg are now not controlling the pain....
Didn't mean to but wept throughout the consultation.... she was lovely.... have known her a long time and she did say that I must be in severe pain to even contemplate taking steroids let alone an increased dose!
I am one of those people who have to be absolutely desperate to take anything so she actually voiced this and said she knew absolutely how dire the pain must be to see me weeping and agreeing to take 20mg
Fingers crossed hospital will see me sooner rather than later...... last year my urgent referral at the end of June resulted in me seeing the consultant at the beginning of October

Have a fantastic time in Spain and a safe journey there and back :D My sister in law and brother in law sold their place out there last year in order to fund some major work on their house.
Perhaps you and I can share notes on learning Spanish.....I am year three into private lessons and what with one thing and another wonder why on earth I am putting myself through this although love the language and hope to be fluent at some point in the future
Bring some sunshine back please :D

My husband went to Spanish lessons for quite a few years some time ago and loves the language For a few years we seemed to go everywhere but Spain for our holidays but now we are there at least 3 times a year When we are on holidays he always buys Spanish newspapers to improve his vocabulary and here he watches Spanish Television on the internet
He is very good at the pronunciation His sister lives in Italy and some people havent realised on the phone that she isnt Italian !! so I think its a a family gift
I think you have to enjoy it to get the most out of it The Spanish will always help you with words whereas I have found the French correct your pronunciation in a critical way
Best wishes

North Norfolk and IOW both very dear to my heart. Fiirst quite near to home nowand second takes me back to holidays in Cowes in my long ago youth. Enjoy them both and Enjoy that sunshine and store some up under your skin.
Hectic day today so sory if I have not responded to all. Men with saws and shredders arrived to do the hedges. Amazing what muscle and machinery achieves. Piles of logs which tomorrow they will return to transaport to storage area with their dumper truck. Price: coffee, toast and gingerbread ( oh, yes, and a cheque ) Reward, a job well done and the company of interesting young people. How lucky we are to live in the country.
My legs ache from numerous trips to see how the work was going and say what we wanted done next. Sleep well all. BettyE

Learnt German at school and can still just about get by when pushed! Went to evening classes when I was at home with small children to learn French and did quite well over three years and we spent most of our holidays hopping over to camp there.
I find Spanish hard going with all its verb forms and different words for the same thing   But my tutor tells me my Spanish is advanced    ( don't believe that) I spend a lot of time daily using a variety of things to support my learning and have some fantastic Internet 'oral' lessons which have really helped bring on my spoken Spanish. They are all on my ipod so can plug in anywhere, even on walks, to practice
Last September when we had 10 days in Spain...... Madrid for three days and then exploring Extremadura staying in paradors, spoke no English at all and had my Spanish complimented by several Spaniards during that time  So it really gave me the push I needed to continue.
Do love the language. My tutor walks in on a Thursday morning and we are straight into Spanish - no English allowed and she makes no allowances for me and does not slow down her delivery! keeps me on my toes

I have been pursuing different things, with different people.
As I had difficulty with Calcichew.
This is part of an explanation about the problem.
[i:5a385ede89][color=darkblue:5a385ede89]Agree with the point about calcium - it causes wind, constipation, diarrhoea, and stomach upsets in different combinations.[/i:5a385ede89][/color:5a385ede89]
Mind they do not effect everybody in the same way.
However, you need to ensure you have enough calcium in the diet (1/2 pint of skimmed or semi-skimmed milk) would do it - also calcium in the diet helps lose weight by preventing fat absorption. So calcium is not a baddie after all. Moreover, if you don't have enough calcium, the body tries to conserve calcium by swapping the magnesium for calcium in the kidneys. So to get enough magnesium, means getting enough calcium.
So, I dropped the tablets and take another sort of Vit D.
Everything in moderation - we should really be getting all this stuff from the food we eat, I bet the caveman did not have these problems.
Oh and I just speak 'Geordie' and an 'Accented English'.

For the rest of you - Ladin is a ratoromanish language, the nearest we'll ever know about what Hadrian spoke. There are five Ladin valleys here, each valley has its own version but they are pretty similar, and there is another set the other side of Lake Garda around Bergamo and another lot in Switzerland. The local hospital has staff who have to be fluent in 3 languages - German, Italian and Ladin as many old people and small children only speak Ladin. Hearing it it has a few Italian-sounding words, a few German sounding plus its own vocabulary - so I assume the foreign words have been assimilated over the centuries.
Sorry you aren't feeling too good today - was there no appointment before Friday? Technically, there shouldn't be any problems with the calcium tabs unless you have a lot of other calcium in your diet and then you could get a high blood calcium level. However - if the headache gets worse or your eyes go funny, straight off to the doctor or A&E to make sure there is no risk of GCA! It isn't just the temporal artery that can be involved in GCA and if one of the arteries in the chest area was inflamed it might give you the headache and the arm symptoms you describe. Better safe than sorry.

Fifties Girl When my husband learnt Spanish it was a University Profesor ( she was Spanish ) and she gave an English lesson first so that everyone new their tenses adverbs form their verbs etc !! He watches Spanish TV on his netbook in the evenings sometimes to keep the language up It sounds as if you have got a long way anyway !! If the people in Madrid understand you !!

Doctor rung at about 5.30 pm. Asked me about tingling in my left arm and the giddiness etc. More questions, and then she said: Ring the paramedics. I did so, and when the paramedic arrived, he plugged me in, took my blood pressure hart rate etc, and said: I am calling the ambulance to take you to A&E....as I got some clean knickers, towels, Nightie etc together, the ambulance was at the door....They were so kind and caring. I WALKED...to the ambulance, and off we went. At A&E they were really full...and very busy. They looked after me with so much care and kindness ! Took more ECGs and 7 tubes of blood...I call them \"Vampires\".... When the doctor arrived, I said : I must go and spend a penny !....So, a nurse took me by the arm and came with me, and said : as you are here, we may as well take a sample bottle....I returned to my cubicle, where a poor little old man, looked so miserable and worried....After a while, the doctor came back ( VERY hansome...) and said that I have a bad urinary infection !....But, I said, looking at him,: I have not been to any exotic places ! He smiled and said : You do not need to go there to get what you have !...I said : Can I go home then? He said YES of course ! I gave him a kiss on the cheek, and said : Thank you, thank you ! Oh no that fast, said he : you must take with you the antibiotics first !... My little old man was so glad !...
All this happened, because my heart rate was going at full speed...my blood pressure, almost went off the charts...and with the giddiness and tingling sensation in my left arm, they did not want to take chances.
But it was explained that the symptoms were caused by the nasty bladder and uretra infection. Daughter in law (she is a Theater Sister at the hospital) told me that infection can be set up by some stools infecting the uretra....Told me to drink everyday at least a full glass of Cranberry
juce, to keep any infections away !So, after all this, I will be very glad to finally retire to my OWN bed !......and say A good night to you all !Thank you EileenH for you timely help ! :rose: Granny Mossxxx

Delighted that you have got sorted and did not have to stay in hospital.....we all would have missed your posts  .
Just be careful and look after yourself in the next few days as you might find that you have to go up a bit with the steroids to get over the infection  .
I love reading all your contributions on here.....you are so full of spirit and an inspiration to us \"younger guns\". I would LOVE to meet you in person as I think you are just wonderful and you have such a fantastic outlook on life
Get better really soon,
Love, Pauline.

What a dramatic day you've had but so glad it's all ended well and you are back in your own bed. A urine infection - no wonder you felt so poorly. But in spite of how bad you felt you still managed to notice that the doctor :doctor: was handsome! You really are one amazing lady and I'm not surprised they all treated you so well today. Drink lots of water and take special care and get well soon.
