So very pleased to hear that Coffeeman, well done you.  Yes lots of hard work ahead but hopefully less pain than before? Did you have a general anaesthetic?  Please keep in touch when you feel up to it Liz

Been thinking about you Coffeeman - glad to see you're on the flip side of surgery, walking stairs, and getting released soon!  Hope all goes well as you take those new hips home.  biggrin

Yes - home today in a little discomfort with very bruising in the thighs and a slight weep from the left wound. All else ok

      Welcome home, coffeeman -

It'll be different but oh so nice to be back home - easy does it -

be very gentle and kind to your self -

and of course, come back here anytime you have a question or concern or just want to share, okay ?

not sure what part of the world you are, but if appropriate, have a good night ...

      big warm hug

Was out Friday 11:00 am exactly 4 days after coming out of theatre.

Good to be home but clearly challenges abound. Reclining armchair is becoming a good friend. Pain wise - under control from melds but absolutely nothing from the hips themselves. Result! C

Pleased to hear you are doing ok Coffeeman, must be wonderful to not have hip pain although of course you have the surgery pain.  Do you have to sleep on your back?  Look forward to seeing your progress, best wishes LiZ

Hi Liz - yes sleeping on my back is the worse thing -at the moment!

Hi Coffeeman, just wondering how are you doing?  How is life now you are home?  Are you exhausted or do you feel you have more energy as you have less pain. Hope you are coping well and have a lot of support.

    regards

    Liz

Wow that is amazing news!  Gives me real hope for my bilateral surgery in June.  I can't believe you can walk without crutches that is really fantastic and for the pain to be so much better.  Very pleased to hear it is all going so well.  Can you do stairs without crutches?

I am told I will not be allowed to go in a car for 6 weeks even as a passenger, is that the same for you?

You have made my day Coffeeman, I am really struggling with pain so to know of your progress has really cheered me, thanks LIz

Hi Liz - I must say I made the decision some months ago to strenthen the muscles around the joints as much as I could prior to the operation. The situation with my hips previous was that I could do non weight bearing exercise. I invested in a good static exercise bike with magnetic resistance (ebay) and religeously did 15 mins in a morning and again tea time. Also some upper body strengthening as there is a high reliance on your arms in the first few days - you dont have a 'good' leg so it is all arms. I am 150% convinced that this investment in time and effort has made the world of difference to recovery.

I do need to pull on the handrail up stairs a little.
