Blocked ear due to anxiety

I wrote on hear a few weeks back. I explained that I was suffering from a blocked ear, I was using steroid nose spray all the time to unblock it and I was suffering from dizziness, reduced vision sometimes in one eye, foggy mind and anxiety.

It turns out the ear problem was a symptom of anxiety. I cannot believe it, I thought the ear was causing anxiety but it's the other way round. It turns out anxiety can trigger physical issues that you would never put together. I haven't had a single issue with my ears now since I learnt it's anxiety and it was really impacting my life before this for nearly a year. Now I'm being treated for anxiety, I notice that the dizziness happens when anxiety is triggered. Since I'm learning how to deal with it my life is becoming much better. Anyone that has anxiety as a symptom of a blocked ear please check this out. BTW I was so surprised I had anxiety because I'm so happy, confidant never had issues with it before so you just never know.

Dudu75, Gut health is important I have been taking probiotics for 3years, for my sinus allergy I just use over the counter spray sparingly infrequently.   It helps my passages stay clear and keeps swelling down and ear much better. I could not tolerate anti anxiety prescribed mess, gave me more anxiety/panic.  Anxiety I get infrequent and no panic attack for 18 months!! Oh! And I switched employers too!!!😎

Anti axiety meds will make you feel worse before better. I was advised by my doc of this and to see it through. Sure enough i felt awful at the start. Week 2 i felt great and a cloud shifted. I was a against them for many many years but my doctor said, if you have a sore throat you take my pills but why not for mental health? I thought she gave a good point.

HI dan...to be honest i lived misery for a while not able to do anything lost two relationships and a job cause i was not able to focus and get irritated and angry quickly. But i always had hope that things will better..what I suffered from was due to ling term abuse of alchol and unhealthy eating. We are talking about years and years...so it make sense that recovery would atleast be for a while. Now with st john wort things are making me cope better and control my anger and depression. My depression was due to my ears and the pressure i have been suffering. So yes hanging on there and trust the process all will be fine.

Get yourself checked for a tongue tie, all these symptoms are typical for a tongue tie and I have been diagnosed. night time bruxism, headaches, blocked ear, anxiety. Do your research on it, I found the tt group on fb for adults useful.

Hello all new to this I've been having ear problems for most of the year had numerous doctors appointments and nothing wrong. The doctor has diagnosed me with anxiety/depression I keep getting blocked ear and muffled hearing headaches and neck pain can anyone assure me it gets better and if so what and how did you deal with it. I can't sleep at night because I worry about my ear and it makes everything worse and worse. Apparently anxiety can effect your ears in way's I never imagined

I started this thread ages ago and whilst I had some anxiety I also discovered I had a posterier tongue tie, this led to lots of problems with neck, shoulder tension and blocked ear. I found I was grinding my teeth at night because my airway wasn't 100%, deviated septum and tongue tie created a big imbalance for me, all this led to pressure in my ear from the inflammation from the teeth grinding. Took me years to discover it. I found a craniosacral therapist helpful, they tune in well to the bones etc. I also had 1 year on citalopran mgs, helped my lower and resolve my anxiety, emotional trauma I had from an employer. If your ear is worse after sleep, check for tmj and grinding, nighttime grinding is often to linked to airway issues, mild sleep apnea etc.
