Blotchy red rash/irritated skin on penile head (lasted for over 3 moths now)?
Posted , 410 users are following.
Part of the skin on the head of my penis has become slightly red and is causing some pain/irritation.
It first appeared the day after I used a condom so I think I must have had a reaction to the latex or some other substance in the condom.
The tip of the penis became super sensitive and noticeably hurt whenever it touched my underwear.
The skin was and still is noticeably red close to and directly around the meatus. This redness gets worse and bigger after I've come out the shower or masturbated.
An hour or so after ejaculation, I get a slight burn/irritation at the very end of the urethra when I urinate and this can last for a few days before subsiding. This has put me off from masturbating as much now.
This has lasted for about 3 months now with no signs of improvement.
I saw a doctor and was prescribed timodine/hydrocortisone cream and this didn't have much effect and am slightly worried it may just make things worse so have stopped using it for now.
It almost seems as if the redness comes from within the skin rather than on the surface.
I don't think its balanitis as I haven't had that for over 12 years when I was a kid and that was with the usual smegma discharge etc, whereas this is just redness.
I've attached images to show how it looks straight after showering, which is when the redness is at its worst and the contrast between the normal skin colour and the redness can be clearly seen.

Neglected to mention the Chaga oil I'm using can be bought on Amazon. It is 100% Organic Wild Chaga Mushrooms suspended in organic extra virgin olive oil (nothing else) If you try it, I highly suggest you read up on medicinal mushrooms as treatment for all sorts of growths and conditions first. There are plenty of viable scientific research and case studies on them.

great story its great to you got something to work.
can i ask what symptoms did you have fir the two years , my glans skin feels burning sore, is reddened but not always that easy to see. most docs say there is dry skin but no indication of infection.
did you ever have a biopsy or scraping tests?
it amazes me that docs arent even trying these basic tests to figure out the issues

It started as inflamed and red irritations on my foreskin and glans (I'm uncircumcised). Almost to the point where I thought it was an open sore behind the head area. All the doctors I saw went the dry skin or fungal route too, both which didn't seem to be my root issue.
I should also note that the Chaga oil has seemed to drastically reduce the penile papules (that I have had since I was a young man), which is a welcome side benefit.

im just scared to put anything on it as everything ive tried just seems to irritate it more - i left natural yoghurt on it the other night and it dried on and irritated the hell out of it! (probably shouldve washed it off?) and i definitely dont trust steroid creams. however this oil youre mentioning sounds like a potential breakthrough ,

My dermatologist took a biopsy of warts that showed up and they came back as condylomata acuminata. Wife's pap smear included an HPV DNA test and came back as HPV6.
I personally believe the medical world hasn't really gotten a good grasp on what HPV DNA does to the skin linf-term, other than warts. My skin has done a 180 since the diagnosis (especially in the groin), with treatments proven to help fight HPV being the only thing that has lessened them considerably. Now, my skin is much drier in any thin or sensitive areas (groin, underarms, back of hands, etc.), I have had a atypical mole removed from non-sun exposed area recently, among other weird moles and skin issues.
HPV is so prevalent these days that hopefully more research will eventually show that even the strains deemed low risk can cause problems down the road. Your immune system never clears it, only suppresses it and I personally believe that it continues to fight it any time you trigger it. A few of the more educated dermatologists I have seen all tend to agree and my current one has me on a wait, watch and treat protocol.
It is a case of recognizing that it doesn't exactly lay dormant, figuring out what triggers it after it has been suppressed and developing treatments that will ultimately help alleviate the symptoms.

It has certainly helped me but I do want to point out that I came upon it when doing my own research for a condition I have been personally diagnosed with by a licensed medical practitioner.
No medical doctor prescribed the oil or even mentioned it (although many mentioned olive oil and straight Vitamin E oil as being good, safe OTC treatments for dry skin). Olive oil in the mixture I use may be the key ingredient that is helping me, I have no way of confirming that.
However, there are many case studies, white papers, and some clinical trials that do support medicinal mushrooms as being effective as a form of treatment to all sorts of skin conditions.
Hopefully, it may help some of you as it has seemed to help me.

Thank you for sharing what has helped you . Already purchased the oil. Curious, why did you get the hpv vaccine after being diagnosed? Is there any benefit of that after infection?

Because there are not enough studies to refute that it doesn't help with people already infected with the virus. Most of the focus and data collected has been on prevention with younger people.
However, there are some more recent examples of it helping suppress the virus in older people who's immune system had not effectively been able to do so (such as with recurrent oral warts, etc.). I have had a few minor reoccurrances since the first ones, literally one here or there if I drink too much, etc.
So, just because there are no warts doesn't mean my skin isn't still shedding the DNA (which to me, could explain the irritated and reddened skin at times in certain areas that conventional hydrocortisone, antifungals and other prescriptions don't help)
I spoke with my PCP (a pretty sharp young board certified Internist) once it was released for older adults and he thought it couldn't hurt and that it would also help against co-infections in the future of more serious strains.

Interesting story, REALLY helpful information for the community. Said it before and I'll say it again, with the internet, the ability to share and communicate information like this so quickly, such a game changer. We can figure ANYTHING out...no fear.
Anyway. I think you're probably right about HPV never fully being cleared, more just a suppression of the virus, like what happens with most viruses, ......apparently HSV-1 or 2 can eat up 20% of immune system function.... lol...
Before I had a better idea of what I picked up, I self diagnosed HPV, I was going to get the vaccine, on suggestion of my doctor, but after some research, I opted out. I personally found the research and evidence just too sketchy to take the chance. I came across one research paper that showed if you get it while have the virus, it can make it worse by up to 40%...

Well let's hope that's not the case; all the recent case studies out there is exactly the opposite. That is why it was recently released for older adults up to age 45 by the CDC here in the states.

For sure, I just remember that specific stat, I need to find the study though.

So if anyone has been following my story, I started out with self diagnosed as HPV, then had "morgellons" symptoms show up which would relate more to lyme, so I've sort of treated it as that since about June 2018. With that causation in mind....but I was never 100% sure, and unfortunately some pieces of the puzzle still didn't add up regarding the lyme/morgellons, self diagnosis theory. I'm pretty sure I never was bitten by a tick, sexual transmission for lyme is farily low (thought to be about 10%) and partner had ZERO symptoms.....However, regardless, treating as if it were lyme covered MANY area's of health so it definitely didn't hurt and I've seen great results so far, pretty much, almost back to normal....
So anyway....early in my research, I fell upon the topic of Malassezia fungal yeast but sort of put it on the back bench to come back to later, then went down the lyme path...so sort of forgot about it and got caught up with fitting the symptoms into the lyme box...
Flash forward a year later, I finally have a derm appointment, ultimately proving fairly useless with no hard diagnosis but some of the derms theories sort of made me take a step back and re-think things.... hence looking back into the Malassezi fungal yeast (which can have strikingly similar symptoms to a Lyme/morgellons infection, it will infect the skin, grow quickly, show microscopic fungal hyphea which look like little black specs to the eye, change skin texture, get into or create wounds, redness, inflammation, spread through out the body quickly, cause biting and ichiness etc.).
So basically we all have microbes on our skin, they're commensal, meaning they live in a balanced state but some can become opportunistic and overgrow when things go out of balance. So anything like trauma to skin, weakened immune system, stress, bacterial or viral infections, external changes like changes in skin Ph, chemicals etc. can cause certain microbes to overgrow....
Anyway, from the research so far, I'm not going to rule out a possible lyme or bacterial infection initially, but I think, given the other clues, Malassezia fungal yeast overgrowth fits the bill pretty well, in my case...... I was tired, definitely had a weakened immune system, probably had some microbes from partner throw off the balance of flora down there and bam, fungal yeast overgrowth and infection.....
Hope this helps.

BTW, when something like this happens, fungal yeast overgrowth, candida overgrowth, whatever.... basically, when a commensal bacteria (something that normally is kept in balance and check) takes over, it's a sign that overall health has been compromised. Basically I don't believe you can heal this with just topicals, you need to really hit it internally and make overall lifestyle changes to get things back into balance....it's a full body and immune system healing process.....then once back to normal, you can ease off a bit. Oh, and I believe it takes time, usually 1-3 years 😃.
You'll never hear any of this from a derm, they just throw out their best guess after 5 minutes and write a script for 100$ cream that will never solve the root of the problem 😦. Such a sad state of affairs.
Best of luck to everyone!

Hi CandianMale81 ,
Please could you clarify how you Self diagnosed HPV?
I am having the similar redness to all of you, its mainly in the meatus of my penis. I can feel that my urea is highly acidic, when that happens i there is a strong smell in my urea. I have tried all the creams on the planet went to derms. I am uncircumsized and my foreskin doesnt roll back all the way and it has been the case when i was small.
I sometimes feels like its very itchy just below belly button but from inside not from outside. I can some time feel like something is biting my foreskin .
I am still thinking its some form of yeast as you also stated correctly but which one and how to treat is beyond me and non of the doctors can find out the route cause. I did all the STD and other tests including CT scan, MRI etc..

C5,
You need to go back to page 21, my first post in this forum to follow my story.
Thought HPV because I didn't have that much research done and HPV was more of a default when all STI's were ruled out. I had one small fatty lump develop, so sort of boxed it into "HPV wart", just because I had nothing else to go on, but it never quite fit the picture of a wart....turns out, that was most likely just a friction tag that developed after sex. Or just some skin reaction to an infection.
In June, I had a weird flare up. Won't go into detail but it lead me down the lyme disease infection/morgellons diagnosis path... which I stayed with since June until now and have just been treating it as a lyme infection, with good results, but I still have no proof it's lyme related.... and lyme treatment protocol basically covers EVERYTHING lol... so bacterial, fungal, hygene... you name it, so obviously it's going to help.
But as mentioned, a few clues didn't add up with that either...
So now. I'm very much leaning towards an opportunistic overgrowth of Malassezia (or some kind of fungal yeast, with hyphae) due to sexual intercourse + other factors.... I know for a fact, when this happened, I was SOOOO run down. And looking back, I think my diet was a BIG contributing factor. All I can say, if you need to heal from something, stop eating acidic foods...aka fast food and coffee... that s**t takes it toll over time.
Here's the thing, I wouldn't worry so much about trying to figure out what kind of yeast/fungal infection. If it is that, you need to overhaul your lifestyle. #1. thing is cut carbs and sugar, eat lots of anti-fungal foods and herbs, excercise, it's internal as well as external and will take time to heal, sometimes years...

Where did you find that info about Malassezia? Could you share please
CanadianMale81 Albert51211

Uh, just google it......along with other hyphea producing fungis, there's a bazillion of them out there lol....
One of the reasons why I'm leaning towards this now is that I basically got symptoms out of nowhere. So if it was lyme disease, I would have remembered been bitten by a tick, there's a small chance it can be passed down through sex but it's small, AND partner had zero symptoms so sort of rules that out. So with that in mind, I learned that we have many fungal microbologies living on our skin, yeasts, bacteria etc. commencally....meaning they don't normally cause problems until something goes out of balance.... so that sort of makes sense in my case, this little fungal organism was always there, or on my partners skin, like it should be.....but it somehow got out of control, became pathogenic, maybe due to stress, diet immune system or other factors. Could even be something I picked up in the external environment while in california, my body was not used to it so it reacted....

Hi Canadian Male,
I think yours is a special scenario, mine definitely started after having sex with unknown women. Hence i checked for all the STDs maybe there is STD's that not been found yet?
If it is HPV, no tests to diagnose it? could this turn out to be a cancer at the end is my biggest worries at this point. I cannot eat any wheat (gluten) triggers to go toilet straight away. SIBO and other symptoms are there. My penis is irritated sometimes bit itcy with white patch around(I though this is stigma as i am uncircumsized. If anyone can help that will be great. Dermos, Urologist could not find it out.

Yeah w ho knows really.....but yeah, my senario is super extra ordinary and weird, but just glad it doesn't seem to be an STI.....
Definitely probably a few different senarios going on in this thread BUT I thought it was important to share my case, just more knowledge and if someone has similar situation, then they will have a benchmark to go with....
I don't want to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but I've also went down the rabbit hole of relating this, possibly to cellular or wifi radiation exposure..... again, this is JUST a theory but I had my cell phone on roaming in my left shorts pocket for extended periods of time over those 3 weeks in California....as I constantly needed my phone with me for maps, traveling, communication etc...
I noticed it would get REALLY warm in my pocket and it's my understanding that roaming signals are much stronger than normal domestic signal.....
Before this all started happening, just when I got back from that vacation, I started getting a flush/hot, weak feeling in my left thigh, just about where the phone would have been....then that's when this all started.... the theory being radiation mutations to skin and lymphnodes (essential cancer), therefore causing all sorts of skin issues to spread to the groin area....or could have lead to proliferation or opportunistic take over of commencal yeast/fungi that naturally occurs on the body.... for how weird and random this event was, I don't think it's as crazy or far fetched as it sounds..... but I repeat, still just a casual theory.
