Blotchy red rash/irritated skin on penile head (lasted for over 3 moths now)?
Posted , 410 users are following.
Part of the skin on the head of my penis has become slightly red and is causing some pain/irritation.
It first appeared the day after I used a condom so I think I must have had a reaction to the latex or some other substance in the condom.
The tip of the penis became super sensitive and noticeably hurt whenever it touched my underwear.
The skin was and still is noticeably red close to and directly around the meatus. This redness gets worse and bigger after I've come out the shower or masturbated.
An hour or so after ejaculation, I get a slight burn/irritation at the very end of the urethra when I urinate and this can last for a few days before subsiding. This has put me off from masturbating as much now.
This has lasted for about 3 months now with no signs of improvement.
I saw a doctor and was prescribed timodine/hydrocortisone cream and this didn't have much effect and am slightly worried it may just make things worse so have stopped using it for now.
It almost seems as if the redness comes from within the skin rather than on the surface.
I don't think its balanitis as I haven't had that for over 12 years when I was a kid and that was with the usual smegma discharge etc, whereas this is just redness.
I've attached images to show how it looks straight after showering, which is when the redness is at its worst and the contrast between the normal skin colour and the redness can be clearly seen.

I still have this issue for 1.5 years now. It's a bit better comparing last year, but still exists. I've used canesten (without hydrocortisone) cream for two weeks, that worked well while using it but after then, it came back again. Now i think of using it for a longer period like 2-3 months. Does it make any harm, did anyone try to use it for longer periods?

Canestan with (HC) Can only be used 7 to 10 max.
Try that for max time then switch to the regular one for 2 weeks.
I find washing with water and a tablespoon of Epsom Salt helps too.

Jason, have you had any success in treatment. I have been plagued with the same symptoms for several months now. My doctors have prescribed creams, pills...etc.., with no success thus fare.
Thanks

Hello Friends,
I used to be very active on this thread but was disqualified by the moderator for reasons unknown. Anyway, I have been keeping up with the thread although I wasn't able to write down anything. However, I created a new account because I need some more help and guidance or at least some positive thoughts.
Question. Do any of you notice any bladder pain/tightness especially in the morning? Furthermore, do you notice that your urine is cloudy/bubbly and dark? Finally, do you ever notice that the pain or pressure is relieved by defecating or urinating...it doesn't take away the pain totally but almost like it improves slightly?

I've not had any issues with urination im afraid. However I do have problems with ejaculation. If attempt to it feels like the same pain you get when kicked in the private area. Back to thinking could be some kind of Proctitis maybe

thats why it has to be fungal. what else is going to effect your bladder, urethra , tip of penis, and throat issues and your rectum.

To everyone who has faced this problem - I have been following this forum for quite a few months. I have faced a similar problem as you all and somehow got it cured. First of all, to tell about myself, I am 29 year old guy from a country with tropical weather conditions with no sex experience however frequent with masturbation due to mental stress. One morning I happened to see few bumps in penis glans and meatus very red and inflamed. I had several visits to GP, Dermatologists, Urologists and the problem was unresolved even after taking several medications (Flucanozole, Bacterial antibiotics that include Doxycyclin, Cepodem, Creams like clotrimazole and sertaconazole etc). Doctors never suggested anything new apart from asking me to maintain hygeine (Cleaning glans, smegma etc etc) After losing faith in all doctors and medicines I took the below steps to cure the illness -
1)Most of us are on stress or mental trauma - Yes it's a very sensitive area and could be irritating and it's our mental stress that is taking the toll of our body. So I just chose to forget about this and move on.
2)Abstinence of masturbation for 8 weeks - Yes it's true. I gave up masturbating for almost 2 months and I strongly advise anyone having this problem to abstain from sex and masturbation. Now, masturbation is never a problem for me like before.
3)Keep the Penis glans dry - I always kept the penis glans dry. After shower, I would ensure I retract my penis glans and dry it out under a table fan for atleast 10-15 minutes or use a dry tissue cloth to keep it dry and I found the difference in my symptoms after 15 days.
4)Stop using creams on the penis glans - Steroid creams and Clotrimazone / Sertaconazole cream application should not be extensively used as same was advised by my treating doctor. Ofcourse, they give you relief but this is only temporary relief but not permanent.
5)Check for diabetes - I was advised by my doctor to check for diabetes which turned out to be normal. I was not suggested by my doctor for STD screening as I never had a sexual intercourse.
6)Diet changes - I chose to limit sugar and spicy foods that aggravates the situation.
Circumcision / Freenuloplasty advised - I was advised to undergo a full circumcision or freenuloplasty by my treating urologist but I did not undergo as this is an elective procedure that was suggested and it was not a medical emergency for me.
Thanks for reading. Although I am not a medical practitioner, this is just an experience that I would like to share. Please also visit your treating doctors for any weird symptoms. For now I see a very good improvement.

Whatever it is... and hell if i wasnt convinced its some sort of hpv or candida... Iam doing the things you said and its better.
No diabetes here.
I only say do NOT circumcise, its just stupid in most cases. You are just adding another problem.
Its very strange that without contact you got what we have, can this really be a mental thing? I mean I had a dark last year...

I honestly think that if you have foreskin you should get circumcised. The reason why is that my rash on glans matches the rash on the parts of foreskin that cover the glans, which means it's contact.

It's not really a mental thing that is the cause of the problem but mental stress and strain could aggravate the current problem is exactly what one of my treating doctors told me. Circumcision was my last option but for now I think I can take it off from my list of options until the symptoms re-occur (hopefully not). I don't think this could be any stains of hpv or hsv given my case when I don't have any sexual exposure but we can't rule out the possibilities of candida. This is seriously a weird problem with each of the specialist doctors comes up with a new problem. My dermatologist says this is candida balanitis, My GP says this is UTI bacterial infection (Although urine report and culture sensitivity report came out normal). My Urologist / Andrologist says the Freenulum was injured during the process of masturbation however I am still not sure what the exact problem was.

Are you able to retract your foreskin out of the glans without any problems? If yes, then this is most likely an infection that is caused due to too much moisture trapped because of tight foreskin and circumcision might not be needed. You can try complete retraction of the glans from foreskin for longer duration (like around 20 minutes) after shower every day and dry it out under a fan or a blower. Trust me this works best

ill tell you why Im leaning towards fungal like a yeast infection that we got from a chick or fungal in some way yeast is the same as candida. i went to cvs or rite aid and bought a 1 day treatment 1200 mg monistat 1 , which is for vaginal yeast infections. its a supository, Im not joking i stuck it up my rear end and felt immediate and big relief within 24 hrs, thats why im convinced its fungal.
