Breath smells like faeces (Poo)

Posted , 379 users are following.

I have this horrid poo smell from my mouth. I brush my teeth twice a day, floss, use Dentyl PH mouthwash, I have the best oral hygeine of anyone I know but I still have this smell. I am too embarrassed to even ask my flriends or family to tell me my breath stinks. I am becoming totally reclusive because of it. Id rather go to my GP and tell him ive got an STD. I know ive got it coz sometimes people look around and ask if ive farted, and I see people with babies smelling their nappies when I speak. It really is starting to badly affect my life but I just cant pluck up the courage ot go to my GP. How on earht can i ay \"DR, My breath smells like poo!\" Please, if anyone has any tips let me know.

So I had a Ct scan of my sinus done today. I have to wait 2 days for the results.  I also went to see a periodontist. Which he claims he couldnt smell anything uggh.  He said that I have periodontal disease.  I also seem to have an infection in my back teeth because he poked at it and it hurt and he saw some blood.  He said he could recomment surgery but its not guranteed to be approved or that It would take away the smell.  So I guess that gives me a clue ti where its coming from

I can bet on my Life that MOST of you here have halitophobia. I have been on this forum for years, I tried EVERYTHING!!!!nothing worked until i ACCEPTED that i had halitophobia then I was cured!!

I am back to tell you how I was 100% cured and i am living a great life, PLEASE DONT IGNORE I BEG YOU (You have nothing to lose)!! I got rid of BB with antidepresants (you have a chemical imbalance in your brain). Please see a Psychiatrist and get these meds. Also please research on every medication you take!

Again, this will only work on those with halitophobia-but how would you know if you have it if you dont try?!

    Please people, try this!

How did you figure out that anti-depressants would work for you? And how did you figure out that the symptom of bad breath was psycho-somatic? I'm not opposed to whatever works but I go to therapy with a psychologist for other reasons. How did you get there?

Ok Im very happy for you that you got cured.  I honestly smell it and so has my kids I tested it out many times. I also went on a date in the summer time and it didnt end well so its an actual problem not in my mind. I began to think it was just me but I see it with the people I work with they run to go get gum or candy like it them that smell. sad

I had no idea my issue was psycho-somatic until i had quit my job went back home and started showing signs of severe depression, my depression was so serious that my mother dragged me to my GP which was when i told the GP and my Mom that it was the BB that was depressing me. My mother cried and asked "what BB are you talking about?" The GP also said he could not smell anything. At that moment i was so confused as i remembered all the doctor who actually told me they could not smell anything. I am no expert but 1 thing I do know for sure is that i suffered so much because of thinking i had BB (10years!) I also know the medication the doctor gave me balanced out the chemical imbalance in my brain and 2 weeks on the meds i could actually feel the BB fade untill completely gone-how on earth that worked-i still have no idea. Now its been a year i am 100% cured. (Excuse the grammar)

I know what you are going through. I was also convinced i had it, also tested it on people and their reactions-not so good but in the end i was wrong. It was all in my head. But if in your case it is real halitosis I pray that you find your cure 🙏

Excuse me but that's not what psycho-somatic means. You're saying it is a figment of your imagination but psycho-somatic means that your mind caused it to happen. It's kind of like auto-immune deficiency problems - your brain making a problem for your own body. It's really happening. The bad breath is really there. It's just that the medicine has to target your brain (or your belief system) to make your brain stop doing it. And then the bad breath stops. That's what psycho-somatic means.

I also just had a date last night and the guy kissed me twice. I was nervous that he would smell it but I guess he didn't since he did it a second time. I am going to research more about acid-reflux since that seems relevant to me and go from there.

Thanks for educating me Naomi. You are right but like I expressed on previous comments I am no expert, i am assuming that i did not have BB in the first place, I had a chemical imbalance in my brain that made me think i had it (I wish I could explain better) and like I said I was so convinced I had it, i saw on peoples reactions when i spoke to them infact i really could smell it-atleast thats what i thought. If you get time please go through my old posts -years back and you will see that i have done it all in search for the cure (KKJ, Loobs and many others who kept me strong during those dark days). Im just back here to tell everyone how I was cured 100%, unfortunatley i dont have scientific explaination, im not the smartest all i know is I was on Antidepressants and my BB went away for good.

I hear you want to research on Acid Reflux- i explored it like a madman. My GI put me on PPIs and I almost had a Fundo operation. Thank God I did not. Pls go through my old posts but here are a few of the things i did. -all 4 wisdom teeth removed.- 2 sinus operations- tonsilectomy - adenoidectomy - biopsy and treatment for Hpylory( i was on metronidasole and some other antibiotic for months) - PPIs for acid reflux - fluconazole for candida i never had ( self medicated, totally bad idea) - ear drops - all of the products of a doctor whose name starts with a K (i cannot mention products here) - netipot with saline- im not even going to mention natural supplements i tried them all!! And these are only a few of the things i did in search for the cure. I want to also stress that antidepressants have their side effects please dont self medicate speak to you doctor.

Does anyone on here have the feces smelling breath, but also a weird coating on their tongue in the middle and in the back? I also have bloating after meals, burping, occasional constipation, and sometimes dairy or sugar make me have to use the bathroom a lot at once. Please help I’m only 20 and this is so embarrassing! It’s been going on about a year now.

Yea But you sound like you have a stomach issue.   Try to read through the posts you should be seeing a GI doctor.   Possibly lactose intollerant issue too.   You may find the answer here. Good luck!

Hi, we need to avoid pastries and processed food. I also do portion eating and ensure I have 1 serving of salad with little dressing or not at all. Citrus and sour food makes the disease worse. There are sites that recommend the proper food combination to avoid gas and bloating. Hope these helps

Have you ever heard of SIBO? Because methane SIBO is what I’m getting tested for. It’s overgrowth of methagons in people who have the bad breath, bloating, gas, and other problems. Your bacteria grow and also bring in archea which are not suppose to be there and make to much methane gas, which gives the bad breath.

This would make perfect sense. My stomachs constantly making noises and bloating even on an empty stomach.

Are you in the UK? Please keep us posted on your results

And is there a solution if you test positive? Is a treatment available?

I live in the United States, but if you go to a GI they should be able to test you for this. But make sure you tell them you want the hydrogen and methagen test. If you read about it and have those symptoms I would see if you cold get tested!

So far from what I’ve looked up and read, you can take antibiotics to get rid of the things that are not suppose to be there. They say it’s somewhat effective, but it can come back later on so you have to eat the best diet you can. I haven’t been tested yet, but I’m hoping it’s the answer I need.

“also have bloating after meals, burping, occasional constipation, and sometimes dairy or sugar make me have to use the bathroom a lot at once”

Most of these sound like accuse lactose intolerance. Easiest to way to verify this is to stop all diary products for 2 weeks and see whether these symptoms disappear.
