I have this horrid poo smell from my mouth. I brush my teeth twice a day, floss, use Dentyl PH mouthwash, I have the best oral hygeine of anyone I know but I still have this smell. I am too embarrassed to even ask my flriends or family to tell me my breath stinks. I am becoming totally reclusive because of it. Id rather go to my GP and tell him ive got an STD. I know ive got it coz sometimes people look around and ask if ive farted, and I see people with babies smelling their nappies when I speak. It really is starting to badly affect my life but I just cant pluck up the courage ot go to my GP. How on earht can i ay \"DR, My breath smells like poo!\" Please, if anyone has any tips let me know.

Pls don’t lose hope. I have chronic BB since decades (now 46). In my frantic search for cure, I stumbled upon many triggers for my BB but nothing like a final cure.
1. I used to have tonsil stones which I found was caused by lactose intolerance. After stopping milk and milk products or using lactose free milk or lactase tablets while consuming milk products, tonsil stones disappeared. Some people it tonsil stones happen due to gluten intolerance too. This has reduced by BB but never cured it.
2. Tea and coffee always used to aggravate my BB and when I stop it, my BB is under control.
3 I also have oral thrush and acidity issues. When acidity/acid reflex is under control, BB is reduced.
3. I have sleep disordered breathing (apnea related) which cripples my day time due to severe day time drowsiness. Still trying to address the issue. I also do a lot of mouth breathing which results in extreme dryness of the mouth, throat etc. I suspect that also seem to cause bad breath.
To conclude when I have the will power and avoid tea, coffee etc completely and avoided milk products, my problem is reduced a lot. Still the exploration is on....

I have had this issue for just a couple of months but I have already seen a few changes. Here's my situation: I smell the bad smell in 2 specific places (lateral side of tooth 7 and 10). I went to my dentist and she doesn't think it's a dental issue - but I think, how can it not be. I smell it coming from my dental floss!
I have also researched it a little on the web and according to an article 90% of bad breath comes from different bacteria that live in our mouth and throat. There are over 100 different kinds of bacteria that all let out different kinds of bad smells (poop, death and rotting - to name a few). The article said to try to aim for changing the environment in your mouth to be one that is inhospitable to the bad anaerobic bacteria. Suggestions include: pro-biotic for the mouth (this made the most obvious difference for me. I used a liquid form of chlorophyl that said on the label "internal deoderant" - really weird description but it made my mouth stop smelling. Now I smell the smell every few days.)
-The article also said to use a tongue scraper to open the anaerobic bacteria to the air (it can't survive in open air environments)
- To use baking soda to turn your mouth more alkaline (and less acidic because the bacteria like acid environments.)
- And I thought it's a good idea to swish around water after every snack - so that my mouth doesn't have food to feed the bacteria.
I literally smell the smell every few days.
Also, can't people post their posts at the bottom here? So that I can look for new posts on the bottom. Its so hard to my unread ones when I have to go looking for them.
Please private message me if you want more details.

I had tonsil stones from a very young age and it has never come back once i stopped milk and milk products. I drink tea with lactose free milk or if i have icecream etc i take a lactase enzyme tablet. Curing of tonsil stones will reduce bad breath but the main source could still be something about the stomach mostly h pylori. I have acidity and associated burn from childhood but has never done h pylori antibiotic treatment. Will plan one soon. When i have caffeine, bad breath worsens. Probably again as it might be triggering more of the h pylori enviornment.

Dear friend, I've been following this threat for years. I have the VERY SAME problem for nearly 27 years, and at January 2018 I found my treatment : A Standard Treatment for H. Pylori Infections. I come back to share my story. It's a long story, so stay with me...
BACKGROUND :
I'm a 47yo man, live in Indonesia, a software engineer, father of 2 sons, recently divorced (because of The Smell), and have this same kind of problem for 27-28 years. It's started when I was in my Freshman Year in college. Out of the blue, my breath start to smell like rotten fish for no reason. Initially I think it because of my ulcer problem (starting earlier that year, because of studying pressures). I go to the doctor, he gave me medicines for the ulcers, and It's gone. But the bad breath stays for years, and destroys self confidence, ruin my life. My breadth is smell so bad that after 5 minutes I enter a room, the smell became noticeable to other peoples (I myself don't sniff any of it). It force me to make a habit of bringing mouth freshner, mint candy, and never stay more than 10 minutes in a room with other people. It's help, but not much. The smell like came from my breath, so even if i not open my mouth, it will still smelly. Although I'm a very good software engineer after graduate, I've lost so many opportunities (projects, positions, friends, etc) because of it. I have nice cars, good home, managerial position with high paying salary in a respected local IT company. But, it's not help my life. Last year, I divorced my wife after years she cheating on me. I'm a bit understand why... I'd like to add that I managed to have a girlfriend and marry because of heavy dose of mouth freshners, mint candies, and good timings.
EFFORTS:
I've been to so many doctor, you name it : Internist, Dentist, ENT, with no result. I even get as far by removing ALL my molars because i suspect a bad root canal procedure may caused the bad breath. Years ago I consult my cousin (she's a GP doctor) about my breath problem, and my sudden allergy. She refer me to his fellow internist for my breath problem (with no luck), but her advise on my allergy was dead-on (Apparently I suddenly became allergic to poultry product).
Last Christmas I meet my cousin again, and I told her my condition. After hear my long description, she told my she said she just encounter a patient with same condition and might have solution for me, but she cannot guarantee. My Answer : "Bring It On, I'll drink even poison if it's the cure". That's how deperate I was.
MY CURE :
She wrote me prescription for removing H. Pyroli Infections, a 14 days medicine like following :
1. Hecobac 500mg (A patent drug for Clarythromycin 500mg) Twice a Day
2. Amoxicillin 1000mg (2 @500mg Amoxicillin) Twice a Day
3. Lansoprazole 20mg Twice a Day
In the morning I took the Lansoprazole 30 minute before breakfast and Hecobac/Ammox after breakfast. At evening, I took the Lansoprazole 30 minute before dinner and Hecobac/Ammox after dinner. The treatment took 14 days, but I round it up to 15 because the medicine must be bought in package of 10 pills. My total expense for these medicine is US$100 (converted from Indonesian currency).
RESULTS:
After 6 days, the smell totally disapeared, but I continue the medicine to 15 days. Still unbelieved, I tested it by having a intense technical discussion with my office peer about a recent glitch in our servers. Usually, they will step back a bit when talking to me. Not this time. I called my cousin to say Thank You, and I asked how he knew I was having H. Pyroli infections. She said she didn't knew for sure, but my symptoms was identical with one of her recent patients that have been lab tested to have a H. Pyroli Infections. And, she said my breath was horrifically smell the same as her patient's. She also said that the H. Pyroli treatment regime is so potent, that she almost sure it will cleared up other bacterial infections that might exist as well. She urge me to take prebiotic supplement to replenish my normal good gut bacterias. I took Yakult (A yogurt with good lactobacillus culture in it), commonly found in every supermarket in Indonesia.
It's have been 3 month now, and there's no sign that the Bad Breath Monster is coming back. I keep my lifestyle healthy, I don't smoke, I don't drink alcohol, and maintain a healthy diet.
In my late 40s I finally get rid of this problem that riddled more than half of my life. My social life is like in spring time now. I have more intense interaction with people, attend many social events (parties, celebrations, etc) that I avoided for decades. I'm not a very good looking guy, but I think I'm nice and smart (My Ex Wife think so, that's why she marry me). After the bad smells gone, my vast humor collection (usually kept for me only) makes peoples stick around me on social gatherings. Something I can never dreamed in my wildest imagination. My families, friends and coworkers are baffled with my recent change. A colleague even dare to ask "Where I was all this time", because I usually was so reclusive. I answered : "I just Upgraded My Version". I'm a new person now. Some says that "Life begin at 40", and it's damn true for me.
CONCLUSION:
I have been following this threat post for years. Usually I came to visit this threat once a month to see if there is something new. I have read all the problems (all the same with me), tried some of the solutions but failed. I came back and register as user to post this. I hope the solution I found above can help others. Be cautions, my solution might not work for others. To make sure, I suggest you looking for a good doctor. In my case, my cousin give me the right help. Some doctors I've visited just don't care enough. They said there's no problem with my breath but keep the distance when talk to me.
BONUS:
I now going out with this nice good woman. I think we got the chemistry, and might ask her to marry me, soon. Than You Lord, I'm so grateful ...

What were your symptoms for H Pylori? Can you share that? I don't think I have ever had ulcers but please tell me. Maybe I'm wrong.
Also, how long has it been that you are cured?
Thank you for posting!

My cousin said that H Pyroli have no specific symtoms, except like ulcer symtoms. Some peoples didn't even have the symptoms. I have ulcers since I was in college, but I didn't take it seriously. I managed to cope with ulcer by scheduling my meal time and adjust portion. In other words, I eat less but more often. On normal working day I eat 3 times a day, and between that I always have "hard snacks". The downside is I normally wake up in the middle of the night because abdominal pain. I prepared drinks and biscuits beside my bed. I've done it for more than 2 decades, it's became my habit.
It's have been 3 month since I'm cured. But, I still maintain my eating habits (eating less but more often). I even still maintain the midnight snacks habit. But, this time there's no ulcer pain.
I hope my answers helps you ...

I'm not sure. In my case, I have been to so many doctors and try so many solutions. If you have check all the possibilities of Bad Breath sources, from your feet, digestion, respiratory, mouth, teeth, ears to your nose like I did, then you can try the solution given to me.
As my cousin said, the H. Pyroli treatment regime is so potent, that she almost sure it will cleared up other bacterial infections that might exist as well.
If you've try everything, If you're not allergic to the antibiotics (Clarythromycin & Amoxicillin), I think you can try what have been given to me. I'm very careful when using antibiotics because I know the danger of using it without proper dose and discipline.
Hope it's help you too ...

Hi there, I, myself also tested positive of H Pylori. i was given triple therapy and it made me really sick. I threw up and had diarrhea for two days so I stopped taking them. And never wanted to take them ever again.
After reading your post how you take your meds. I will go back to see my doctor again and ask my doctor to prescribed me another round of triple therapy but this time I wont take them all at once. I will follow how you take them and see if it will help me.
Fingers crossed.
