Bumps on vulva (pictures included)

Posted , 8 users are following.

I've had these for a while. I haven't had sex (or any kind of sexual contact) so I don't think it's HPV. I asked the doctor about Fordyce Spots, but she'd never heard of them and referred me to another clinic. I have to wait a while for an appointment, so I thought I'd post here to ask for information.

Your doctor had never heard of Fordyce spots!?  Wow!

They don't look like Fordyce spots though, and you're right to get them looked at.  My best guess is lichen sclerosus, in which case these links may help:

Please let us know what the doctors say though.

I appreciate your activity level on this site! I looked in the LS group and have seen a couple pictures like these, yet a lot of people in that group seem to believe that this is not LS. I did read somewhere the mild LS can have these unnerving little white bumps - but I only read that in ONE article.

Sorry not trying to doubt you. Just trying to figure it out. I've had them for a few years and everything always comes back negative when I'm at the doctor and no one ever seems to be too worried about what they actually are.

I was guessing at LS, but it sounds like the doctors aren't sure either.  If you've been seeing GPs so far, I'd ask to see a gynaecologist or dermatologist.  It sounds like it might be anything to worry about, but someone must be able to say what it is.

I have been asking my gyno. She has a lab in her office with a crew that tests everything right there. They have taken me seriously, but they always just call and say "everything is negative" and that's the end of it each time I've gone.

Hopefully it's nothing. If this showed up on my arm, i would probably care less. It's just the fact that it's "down there" that makes it this stressful.

(missed a word - should read: might not be anything to worry about)

I suppose that means they think it's nothing to worry about, but it's disappointing they haven't said what it might be.  In your position, I'd probably want to see a dermatologist, or a different gyno.

You probably saw this thread already, but if you didn't, some of the suggestions may help:

It looks like she might have something similar, and in this post, she says she's had a diagnosis of vulvitis:

    Hello,

Did you ever find out what it was? I honestly thought that was my pictures when I saw this. Mine looks exactly the same way.

Doctor said it was a combination of fordyce spots and vestibular papillomatosis.

Hey I have the same thing. My doctor is clueless as well, and sending me to a gynocologist. Until then, can someone please give me some answers to relieve my anxiety? Thanks!
