CFCs and dating

Hi fellow sufferers of CFS/ME

I suffer from CFS which as you all know is very exhausting, frustrating and isolating, particularly for those of us who aren't married or in a relationship. I get really lonely when I have days stuck at home with no one to talk to because I have no energy to go out. I'm feeling very down at the moment as a result. I'd love to share my life with someone as I have a lot of love to give and lots of interests. I don't feel that a 'normal' dating sure would work for us because of our limitations but if we could meet a fellow sufferer, we could both help and support each other. What do people think?

This has got me thinking about whether there might be an on line dating a website for people with CFS/ME ? Does anyone know of one? Maybe we could start one?!

be interested to hear what you all think on this matter.

Mary

It might be a great idea because when one has a bit more energy they could do physical things like cooking and vice versa. Taking it in turns to do things would lighten the load for both.

Where do I sign up? razz

Exactly my thoughts too Georgia! Still trying to work out how to get the idea off the ground! All ideas welcome! 😀 . We're in this together! 😉

I have someone sort of. He visits sometimes and we talk on the phone a lot, he's keen but he's so full of energy I just can't keep up with him at all, he wears me out with his talking, so I can't be in a relationship with him.

I get so low being on my own, and also I pay the spare bedroom tax and the government are going to put it up apparently. There must be other people who have ME with spare bedrooms they're paying tax for.

There are so many reasons why your idea is brilliant! So many lonely ME sufferers and even those who live with family but have a partner.

I'd even like someone with ME to rent my spare room not for a relationship, for company. I'd prefer a relationship of course but even a woman who has ME could live here. I'm in a peaceful village, ideal if peace and quiet is needed so perhaps it could be opened up to anyone who has it who does't want to be alone anymore?

As for getting the idea off the ground it sounds like you have a lot of support already so with many minds together it could happen! razz

I'm not bad at websites and there's a friend in here who's brilliant with all things net for advice! He has a wife so he wouldn't be personally interested but I know he'd help us.

Hi all,  what a fab discussion.  We so often think we are alone, and then some brave person starts a discussion...

I'm single and I don't have any relatives to 'delegate to' or shed loads of money to pay cleaners, dog walkers, gardeners, car washers etc. My house is steadily going to wrack and ruin, but I'm trying to stop my mind going the same way.  I tried a dating sight but left it about a year ago as i felt exhaused just reading the profiles and looking at the photo posed on the summit of a mountain!!!  I'm sure all the men are single because they spend too much time away from civilisation, conquoring nature's challenges. I knew I couldn't keep up so I removed my profile.  I try to do something that I know i'll enjoy, ie matinee at cinema or theatre now and again and chat to people when I can.  It's amazing how many people go out alone!  CFS is definitely one of the reasons my last relationship ended.

I'm so greatful the internet exists now and these forums are available to ameliorate the loneliness and meet the need for human contact.  As for sex life, the energy efficient option would be a little battery powered friend and some good memories...

      Lol physio, lol

Indicentally my sexual feelings have been virtually non existent for 10 years but I've been taking St John's Wort to lighten my moods for years and I've recently added Damaniana as an additional antidepressant. It also seems to be reviving my body cells energetically a bit so I'm getting the odd twinge. cheesygrin

One of its properties is sexual revival.

Yes matinees are all I can manage too. I'm not an evening person any more but would still like to do occasional things in the day when I feel up to it. I know what you mean about an ordinary Dating site. Too exhausting looking at all their energetic activity interests! There has just GOT to be an answer for people with our kind of health problems. Who watched the programmes on dating called The Undateables? It was for people with all sorts of disabilities and was very inspirational. Perhaps I'll write to the producers and see whether they would like do something similar for people with CFS/ME/Fybromyalgia etc.

You're full of great ideas Mary! We really need  public exposure to this illness and not just for us; it could hit anyone at any time without warning so public education is so important!

I've  sent the producers of The Undateables an email asking if they would be interested in putting out a similar programme for CFS/ME/Fibro sufferers. I'll let youl know what they say!

How exciting!!! razz That'd be so incredible. And even if they say no there must be other programmes that might do something. POWER  TO ME people!!!

I'm getting carried away aren't I? Thought I was Wolfie Smith for a moment! cheesygrin

White Label Dating is one of the big company providers. i was looking for contact details. Ross Williams is the founder. it's Uk based, somewhere in the south east. the more feelers/enquiries that go out the greater chance of productive returns - synchronicity/serendipity etc. kicks in ???

hi Mary. Ross Williams (White Labels/Global Personals) is on Linkedin. might be a means of connecting with the Co.

Am I writing to Wolfie now then? eek

I think we should go big and write to Panorama; there I go getting all Wolfie again. One step at a time Georgia. Sheesh. cheesygrin

How about we make it national news! Breaking news! CFS/ME folk on the lookout for meaningful and fulfilling relationships! lol
    • Posted

Ha ha there'd be a national stampede of ME people trying to get to the shops for razors and shampoo! lol

Well I've found that the ME has left me very few things to enjoy, food being one and a sex life the other....

The problem has been that although it can still be nice sitting down to a nice meal on your own.... The same can't be said of a solitary sex life ....redface ....cheesygrin
