Change in Ejaculatory Force and Volume Post-PAE

Posted , 10 users are following.

I am about 6 weeks post-PAE and am noticing changes in ejaculatory force and volume.  Specifically, these have diminished greatly from pre-PAE.  It almost feels like the smooth muscle part of the ejaculation has forgotten how to do it, or is not quite coordinated.  I am not experiencing retrograde ejaculation, but more of a weak force that ends up more like oozing than ejaculating.  Wonderful improvements in urine stream, emptying, etc, but surprised about this new change and hoping it is temporary.  Would love to hear from anyone else experiencing this and whether it will improve or not.

What you are describing is the result of a smaller prostate.  It happened to me before I had a PAE, when the meds started doing their job of reducing the size of the prostate.  The unfortunate part is that the meds also reduce the ability to feel an orgasim because the meds also affect the nerves. So the good news is PAE reduces the size of the prostate and allows the nerves to work, but with reduced size you have reduced ejaculatory force. But a dribble is better than nothing at all in my humble opinion..

Could you share a little more about your experience?  When did you have your PAE?

Mid June is my six month point.  I'd been on the various meds about 10 years and had become very unhappy with the side effects.  At this point I'm taking Dutasteride and Alfuzosin every other day (Dut. today and Alf. tomorrow, etc.) I'm doing ok but realizing that nothing is going to take me back to 18 years old.

Hey PAE!  Wow with all those antiandrogenerics you're on, it will be hard for you to assess the sexual aspect post PAE until you're off them for a while.  Here's hoping you get your 18 year old function back! smile

    Hi Burninglove ,

I'm starting to feel quite distressed reading the responses to this discussion things don't sound positive at all ..... I have just emailed both my specialists that performed the PAE on me asking about this ejaculation issue ...I will keep you informed.

Now a new worry has entered the arena the body's rejection of the beads and possible prostate removal .... This is frightening 😖

I will keep you all updated

    Regards

    Hi Everyone ,

I recieved an a phone call from my specialist regarding the email

I sent regarding the ejaculation issues he explained to me that so far he's not had anyone with these issues and that everyone's recovery time is different with regard to PAE and the prostate is still in trauma this is different for everyone even after six weeks... he said it can take some months to see the final results of the full impact of a PAE and what results each individual can have ..... So the wait continues ..... Please still share your experiences on this Ejaculation issue of like to read more of your experiences .

    Thanks everyone

      Hi Chris

i had my PAe done On FeB 9th this year at Oxford University Churchill Hospital. I asked the radiologist Dr Tapping what he though

t about the earliest I could get back to sex. he suggested giving it a rest for a couple of weeks. So I promptly ignored him and had a session with the wife 4 days afterwards! I had a burning sensation and yes the oozing, but a fair amount nevertheless. It has gradually improved over time and now I'd say it's better than before the PAE. More force, better sensation and overall more enjoyable. The urinary situation did not seem to improve noticeably but the last  2 nights running I slept through until after 8 am without needing to get up for a pee. Had my MRI follow up 2 weeks ago and prostate has shrunk by 20% from 82 cc pre pae.

hope this helps guys. Keep posting its essential to get this information out there as its the first I've heard of a negative sexual response.

In a way that is true.  What the prostate is going through is a change and it is not getting the blood it use to.  In time it may get better.  But we also have to realize that when we get older we don't produce the amount we did when we were younger.  I wish the doctors  would stop saying that the orgasm will not change that it will be the same.  But it does.  I hope you guys well heal fast and you get back to as normal as you can  Ken

Thanks Jezzaman!  That is encouraging and gives me (and ChrisRed) some hope.  Do you recall when you feel you got your normal sexual function back? Thanks!

      Hi Kenneth ,

I'm 55 before I had the PAE I had a very good volume of sperm per ejaculation and I had a very forceful ejaculation so not all people are the same , since the PAE everything has remarkably changed with the oozing that's why I'm greatly

Concerned it's a huge change it was a shock and it's great that you guys are sharing your experiences we won't know what happens unless we all talk about it and your specialists need feedback too , men are reluctant to talk about this stuff and I'm lucky I have specialists willing to listen and give their time to these issues post PAE . Thank you guys for sharing this stuff with myself & Burninglove .... Please keep posting thanks so much

      Regards

Hello Chris thanks for your input. Do you mind if I ask how long ago you had yours done, and by whom?

      thanks

Hi Chris   Sorry about your problem.  Even when I was younger I did not have alot but my orgasm were very intense.  At 60 they still are.  I know it is a shock to a man when there is a change.  I know the first time I had retro It sucked. There was no feeling and it was just there if you know what I mean.  I was looking for something more to happen.  All men heal at diffrent speeds and I hope things will get better for you  Ken

      Hi

Well it was quite soon after, Like I said the first time was way too early but things  improved within about 2 weeks, when normaility was reached.

There are many people on this Forum who have had PAE and you guys seem to be the only ones so far to report this problem.

I really hope you can get it sorted.

      Jeremy
