Chest pains

Sorry to post this in here but i'm dying for answers, its driving me crazy. Basically about 2 years ago I was diagnosed with anxiety after weeks of chest pains and dizziness, i had 2 ECG's one at A&E and one at my doctors which both came back normal and then i had a stress ECG, which also came back normal. The chest pains and dizziness have come and gone now and again since 2 years ago but for the past 2 months i've had a bad patch of it, every day basically cant seem to shake this one off and now it seems to get me when im excercising as well, like going for a jog or on the bikes are the gym. So i went back to the doctors again last week and had another ECG done which came back fine, then went on a health test where I had an ECG done and a stress ECG done, both came back fine again but during the stress ECG i didnt have any chest pain, so maybe the ECG wouldnt of caught anything if i didnt get my usual symptoms?

I'm worried sick i've got something wrong with my heart, i want to start going to the gym again but i'm too worried about it. Do I go back to the doctors and ask for more tests or is an ECG & stress ECG sufficient enough to put my mind at rest? I've now had 4-5 ecg'S over the past 2 years and two stress ECG, but i just can't get over it.

HI, I was recently rushed to A&E with some of the symptons you mentioned.

They did ECG,bloods and xray and found nothing, im 42 years old.

They told me i had to see cardiologists within a week, but then delayed the appointment and i havent been yet.

They mentioned something called Pericarditis, but other than that didnt tell me anything.

Pains still continue on and off daily, dont know if i should go to work, return to the gym or anything.

After looking through the internet it seems that a lot of these symptons refer to this condition.

Hi I’m a 24 years old male.. been going thru the same symptoms . The way it started was 5 month ago I started feeling dizzy and lightheaded, went to the doctor and did some test and doc said everything is normal.. a month later I started feeling a sharp pain on my heart so I went back to my primary care doc and he ordered an EKG and a carotid Doppler and some blood tests results came back normal and sent me home , a week later I felt the symptoms so bad so I had to go to ER and they did all the tests and couldn’t find nothing, a week later I went to a cardiology and he saw my medical record and did a stress ekg and hook me up to a monitor and still couldn’t find nothing, so he sent me home and gave me some anxiety medicine , now I feel same symptoms like chest pain and discomfort, shoulder pain sometimes and palpitations when I lay down and I feel like I’m about to pass out , symptoms get worse after I eat even if I eat light snacks.. ohh and I did a CAT scan test as well... please can anyone tell me what should I do ?! Last time I went to my cardiology he said he did everything possible to me and said that my heart is fine but I feel something is wrong with me.. pleas help

Hi hamoudi 54311, I have the exact symptoms you're having. Did you figure out what's going on with you? I'm feeling so hopeless, did all the exams you mentioned and they never found anything. This is affecting my professional life so bad since I'm afraid to leave the company I've been working on for years and take a new challenge.

ive gone thru this also come to find out i had a leak in one of my valves with a normal heart reading ultrasound i suggest for you to go to a cardiologist and check it out. every disease is managed if its found on time. i also suggest for you to get your anxiety under controlled which you can develop cardiophobia in the process of this because you constantly thinking about the negative you think you have and it takes you deeper into your anxiety

When you have chest pain, your first thought may be that you’re having a heart attack. While chest pain is a well-established sign of a heart attack, it can also be caused by many other less serious conditions. About 13 percent of all ER visits for chest pain result in a diagnosis of a serious heart-related problem.

Yoooo!!! everyone relax, well most everyone. This should be a forum for anxiety sufferers, me included! It's highly likely most everyone on here, me as well, has an autoimmune disorder. Bad news=no "cure" this is arguable tho. I have psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, and GERD. I'm 33 and have had psoriasis for 11 years, arthritis for 7, and GERD the past 2. Guess what? GERD is what ppl associate with acid reflux, which everyone thinks they know what that feels like and dismisses it.

When I get heartburn, its from something obvious, but there are a lot of other symptoms out there that are caused by what we eat. I did a test on myself to figure this ish out. I brought my body to zero basically. I ate no sugar, no complex carbs (anything that turns into sugar corn, beans, potatoes, etc) not night shade veges NO DAIRY. I did this for 3 months-- basically eating greens, baked chicken (no spices really), and avocados (i live for avocados). I felt, absolutely amazing, lost a ton of weight (which wasnt the intent) and all my "heart attack" symptoms disappeared.

Guess what? that life is hard to live, I think I went too hard and too fast. Basically got off the diet after feeling better and slowly gained all the weight back within a year. Symptoms started right back up! 3 EKG's, bloodwork, and a CT Scan, but guess what-- all fine. Perfect health.

GERD symptoms really simulate a heart  attack feeling, dizziness, fatigue, chest hurting (in different ways), coughing, even nerve pain--yup tingling. Now don't ignore this if you're feeling this for the first time -- go to a hospital, but if you're relatively healthy and have had all these tests done--relax. Easier said that done.

I suffered from depression, and took meds for-- have been off for years though. Anxiety is the devil, and can probably kill you for worrying so much. These tests should put you at ease though. Also, take CBD oil, it's legal, and cures anxiety quickly. Change your diet, get rid of sugar, dairy is no good for anything--even though it taste amazing, and lay off the spices--basically anything that will cause inflammation.

I've picked up breathing exercises (like meditation) too, it helps a lot.

I am 53, and have been having chest pain, shortness of breath with and without exertion, and have been completely exhausted both mentally and physically for several years now, but it seems to have worsened over the past several months.  The chest pain I'm having is relieved by taking 1-3 nitroglycerin tablets.  I also suffer from anxiety, depression, and GERD.

Here is where my issues are at right now:  I have had ECGs, echos, heart monitors, and stress tests done over the several years I've been having the problem, and all have come back normal.  When talking to my cardiologist a couple weeks ago I was so fed up with all the tests being done and not having any answers to my problems so I said maybe it's just stress related, but if that's the case the nitro shouldn't relieve the symptoms, should it?  He said no, it shouldn't, and decided to do a CTA-(Coronary computed tomography angiogram) last Thursday on me, and he ordered a ABI- (Ankle Brachial Index) because of some leg issues I'm also having that is to be done on the 27th of this month.

Following the CTA last week when I was checking out at the doctor's office I reminded them that I have an ABI on the 27th, so I told them that I'll just follow up with the doc after that to get my results from both tests (seriously who wants to go to the doctor more than necessary, and have to pay 2 co-pays when they don't have to).  I was informed at that time that I won't be waiting that long to come back in to see the doctor, that I'll be coming back in on Tuesday which is the next day he's in the office because it said on the test results that I need to come back in and see the doctor ASAP due to what was discovered in the test. (I told them my daughter is coming in from out of town and she'll only be in on Tuesday and Wednesday and asked if there was anyway I could see him on a different day, and the girl said no, he's only in on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week himself, and she looked down at the test results, and said but you REALLY need to come in Tuesday to see him.   So apparently, even though everything else was normal, they have hopefully and finally located the problem that I've been trying to get answers to for years now. (I have been so sick, so tired, and hurting so bad for so long).   So I'm scheduled to go back in this coming Tuesday, and then I'll find out what they discovered.  I'll let you all know what I find out.

?Here's the way I see it, there are a lot of things that can mimic heart attack symptoms, but you know your body better than anyone else.  If the other things have been ruled out, or even if they haven't, and you truly think it's your heart causing the problem then keep going back, and keep having it investigated because although the tests are good, they can still miss things like apparently mine has done for many years. This is the first CTA that they have ever done on me, and it might have been wise for me to suggest years ago that one be done, but I kept taking the results of ALL those other tests, and tried to convince myself that it wasn't my heart,  and although I felt horrible (most days I felt like I was dying (I have a lot of other medical issues to that helps contribute to this feeling), I still felt if something was really wrong with my heart that needed attention it should have shown up on one of those other tests, but now I can say, apparently not.    Best of luck to you all, and I'll keep ya posted on what I find out.

I had the same as you and they put it all down to stress. All the tests for my heart came back positive and they said it was stress related. I was feeling like a fool so I never went back. I started getting more pains. Till one evening it was in my chest and my right arm. Not my left as they say it's the left arm if it's your heart. In the end I took myself to the hospital. Only to tell me. I was having a heart attack. I've had other one since then and now have conornery heart disease. Always do want your body telling you. Xxx good luck hun x

I know exactly what you are saying rosemary. It gets so aggravating.  I hope you are doing better now.

My CTA they claim also came back with no significant blockages, so I'm even more confused now.  I know it was 50% blocked several years ago, but they didn't say what % of blockage it was now.  So, I'm not sure what the big emergency that I had to come in 1 of the only 2 days my daughter was in town to see the doctor was about.  So I'm feeling pretty stupid, and pretty aggravated here too as the chest pain, shortness of breath that is usually relived with 1-3 nitroglycerin tabs continues. They have now scheduled me for a PFT-due to the shortness of breath, and had to move my ABI to a different date later this month.  It costs me $50.00 every time I walk in there to see the doctor or the PA, not to mention all the extra amount I owe them from the portions of all the testing that the insurance doesn't cover.

Being disabled, and on a limited income, I can not afford this stuff, yet knowing my body, and knowing something is wrong that they have not found, I can not not afford to keep searching for the problem. (Years ago, I went to the doctor for a total of 6 weeks with stomach pains, only to be given one ineffective OTC stomach med after the other.  I was in the office on 12-23 and was again basically dismissed with it's probably just your GERD, take your OTC med, and sent out the door.  That night at 1AM which was then Christmas Eve, I was in ER with stomach pain and vomiting.  The doctor admitted me for dehydration because of the vomiting, and I insisted they run a test at that time to see what was going on in my stomach.  After the test, within 30 mins,  I was in emergency surgery on Christmas Eve because my appendix was getting ready to rupture, and for the past 6 weeks they had been flaring up, and going down, flaring up, and going down, and if the doctor had bothered to check that he would have known before it became an emergency situation on Christmas Eve).  (A few years later I had a similar issue occur also with stomach pain, but luckily, I went to a different doctor who didn't dismiss me with OTC meds, and ran a test at that time, and determined that I had an ectopic pregnancy).  The thing is I know my body, and if I tell them my chest hurts, and I have shortness of breath then it is because my chest hurts and I have shortness of breath.

As far as the chest pain and shortness of breath issues, my sister had the same problem.  All her heart tests came back "normal" she also had several CTA's that all came back "normal," as well, yet her chest pain and shortness of breath continued.  She ended up going to ER one night with her usual chest pain only for her doctor to do a heart cath, and find out that she had a 99% blockage in 1 artery, and that the arteries in the front part of her heart have a genetic defect where they are too small to supply the front part of her heart with adequate blood flow.

Anyway, I guess it's back to the drawing board being a lot more broke, and a lot more aggravated.   Only time will tell.

?For all of you going through this too I hope they can figure out the cause.  Best Of luck to you all.
