Cold sensation when breathing in!

Hi all

PLEASE PLEASE I need some advice if anyone has experienced these symptoms.....

For the last 6 months or so I have been coughing more so at night during my sleep and it wakes me up. Initially when I went to the Dr she thought I had acid reflux (which I have suffered from in the past), she put me on lansaprasole for 12 weeks and the cough has not stopped. I then saw another Dr whom said they need to do a chest xray so I had this done 10 days ago, the result is clear. The Dr gave me an reliever inhaler.

My symptoms are ~

Coughing that wakes me at night, dry and unproductive

Clearing throat all day

Tight feeling around the thyroid area

Blocked sound by throat when I breathe in (not a chest wheeze)

Scratch in my throat when I breathe in which provokes the cough

Cold air sensation when I inhale, this is constant

The Dr has referred me for a Spirometry and Reversability lung function test which is in 3 weeks. My son has extreme asthma and my grandmother had asthma which she developed in her 40's.

I used to be a smoker for 17 years, recently stopped 8 weeks ago.

The throat condition has been going on since last year, I had a clear xray Jan 2016 including a clear scope down the nose into my voicebox and lyranx together with an endoscopy to check for acid reflux - all clear! Series of 5 lots of FBC's & CA125 tests and thyroid blood tests - normal!

I am petrified I have an undetected lung cancer now, but the Dr thinks I have nocturnal & seasonal asthma. I use the inhaler when I feel blocked but it only last for a few hours where I feel some relief! At times it feels like I am breathing through a straw or piece of cloth!

ANY advice is very welcomed, this is driving me mad...........

Thank you

I had a chronic cough for no reason. My dr said it was asthma. Most of my symptoms have gone away (as long as I burn that respiratory oil). I still burn it all the time I am home. I make sure to definitely burn it in the a.m before I go to work. I work in a cold refrigerate warehouse. I still get flare ups at work but as soon as I start to feel it I pump my inhaler and it ease up. I went to the oil bar and found out they don't deliver out of u.s but I dont mind working something out with anyone that needs me to ship it for them. I'm just excited about how this oil has changed my breathing.

Hey thanks for your message - struggling yesterday and today....throat just tickles all the time.......causing dry hacking cough FED UP!!!!! I need that oil! I have checked the site and see they are tiny bottles, how do you burn the oil (sorry if I sound stupid)

I bought my oil burners from Walmart. One was $3 the other was $10. It's really simple. You just need oil burner, tea candle, and some olive oil or coconut oil to burn with the Respiratory oil. google burning oil I'm sure they have videos

Thanks - can I ask, did you have a tickly cough constantly with your issues?

I had a chronic cough. I wouldn't go away. I still constantly feel like something is in my throat but that's if I dont take my Claritin. Now before this I had zero allergies. Now I gotta make sure I take the allergy pill and burn the oil. With those 2 and my inhalers I can live normally. All of this started when I got the flu shot. Seeing all of your symptoms I know that oil will help you live a normal life because most of our symptoms were the same. The very first day I burned the oil it helped with everything. I work in a cold warehouse and a uber driver. I stopped giving rides because I was having asthma attacks in the car with ppl. It was pretty scary. The oil is amazing.

I've had a similar experience when I seem to get out of breath I will when I inhale it feels like I had just eaten a mint and took a deep breath if you're a good analogy would be like after you brush your teeth and you breathe in deep and you feel that mint cold sensation in your throat I've had it for years and no one can figure out what it is but it hurts too in my throat when it happens

      Hi there

So relieved that I am not the only one that suffers with this!

It all started for me when I moved into my now husbands house with 3 cats! Its been a long 5 years since then with the same symptoms and anxiety BUT I had RATS blood tests about 1.5 years ago which I tested quite highly for cat dander allergy, the solutions they gave to me was live with the coughing too and sensations or get rid of the cats, obviously I chose the former!

What I have noticed what calms it a little is not burning any fragrance candles or plug ins etc...seems to irritate the throat.

The cold sensation hurts me to when I breathe in, which in turn makes me cough continually, it sucks! Nothing else to be honest, its not there first thing in the morning but as the day goes on it starts and by the evening its burning and irritating!

Do you smoke as I do so.....

hello!!! thank you for starting this thread. im suffering with the cold feelings and wheezing now. do you still deal with the cold sensations? are you currently prescribed anything that helps? i hope my blood tests dont reveal i have pet allergies cause i will have to just suffer.

still have the cold sensation when breathing in and wheezing but only when I spend alot of time indoors at home

that makes my diagnosis of allergy to pet dander sense in my head. there is not alot that can be done if an allergy is causing your symptoms except an inhaler and anti histamines which do nothing for me

I cough a tremendous amount also, do you?

      its horrible!

I tend to cough a lot at night and in the morning . but my biggest deal is is there sometimes when I get that cold sensation it actually hurts my throat but I'm not outside I'm inside when that happens or I should say I am outside the times it happens inside or out warm or cold it doesn't matter . I'm not sure if it is allergies I am allergic to cats but usually it's only if they scratch me I only have that kind of itching reaction but lately my eyes ears nose mouth it is allergies I am allergic to cats but usually it's only if they scratch me I only have that kind of itching reaction but lately my eyes ears nose mouth everything is going nuts

that cold sensation hits the back of my throat nearly hitting my breath away!!! its horrible. I always cough day and night! got so used to it now! Makes it worse with this coronovirus lurking around as I have just come back from Thailand!!

please take care. things are running rampant. my best friend lives in Thailand. I worry about him a lot.

Sometimes when that feeling comes I swear I can breathe. My cough seems to be getting worse. Couple that with a migraine like this morning and I just want to stay in bed.

I sure hope you feel better than I today.

your sensation sounds like mine. I get inhaled wheezing also like a blocked sound in my throat the Dr says its cats allergy!

I know my father in law lives in Thailand so its very concerning. luckily only 33 people are confirmed with half of them being released from hospital already. still I travelled through Bangkok airport so..... higher risk! oh well what will be will be I guess!!!

question for you, do you smoke?

congrats to you for a slowing down your smoking . My father used to smoke non-filtered camels . however I do not smoke . I have tried Zyrtec and add an asthma bottle and antihistamines for my eyes and nose ... none seem to be working. i hope it helps you.
