My daughter 12 myself and ex husband best friend and sister have all had continuous cold/flu symptoms since Sept 2014. We all been prescribed antibiotics antihistermenes inhalers etc by our own seperate GPs but we all have a continuous cough very bad mucus runny noses electric shock feelings and dizziness and aching joints. Nothing helps. Weve also discovered that our friends and other people we know have this. We are diversely spread across the UK Cardiff Bristol Cheltenham Devon Yorkshire etc. Has anyone else had these flulike symptoms for such a long time?

Hello there, well I started a strange virus last october, aching limbs, dizziness, legs like jelly, headaches, and running to loo and it was like as though my stomach bloated out - I was on this site and so many people had it anyway it went on february.

Last September for some reason I was heaving first thing in the morning (too old to be pregnant!) then the pouring nose, etc etc no stomach loatness but this time feeling chesty and wheezing and a lot of mucus, but the worst thing is the gagging, heaving I am not sick just heave after a while if goes off this is really worrying me and I wonder if anyone else has had the same

I have been so ill with a similar virus since October 2015. Starting with hot and cold sweats which never stop despite taking Paracetamol. Symtpoms include, severe headaches, earache, sore throat, severe harsh cough but unable to bring up phlem despite taking medication that waters down my phlem (I have copd) so take various medications including inhalers for that and Asthma. I am exhausted, sick of taking antibiotics, steroids, paracetamol. I sleep all the time. I am lucky to get 3 good days a month and bang it's back with a vengence, I don't know what to do anymore. My doctor has no idea what it is but has stated that this virus has floored so many patients and it keeps reocurring. I am due to have bloods taken on Monday which specifically show what kind of virus if I have a virus it is. I pray to god I get a cure soon. I am 55 years old but feel 100. By the way, I have been on the highest dosage of Vitamin D and C that you can buy for over a year now and it has made no difference whatsoever. I used to take a high dosage of Garlic but stopped that 2 years ago. I shall go back on it now, anything is worth a try. I have been unable to get the Flu Jab this year as I have been so ill and gp advised against it. It has now come to the point where I am absolutely paranoid to leave my home for fear of making myself worse and I have become somewhat of an agrophobic, not good considering I suffer from Depression and Anxiety. I strongly believe I caught this virus travelling home on a plane from Hurgada, Egypt as I was totally fine before then. If anybody can help then please do, I feel I will never get better again and am literally sweating as I write. Thank you.

First, it is somewhat encouraging to read these posts and find out i'm not alone.  eight months ago, i caught a mild cold virus, but it wouldn't go away.  Three weeks of feeling achy and lethargic.  Finally gone.  Then last month, i got the same kind of symptoms, but now i'm going on week SIX!   for me, there is no fever, no coughing, no runny nose; instead, just a general malaise, lethargy, and that "i don't feel so good" feeling.  i had night sweats the first two weeks.  then it started coming in waves: i would feel 75% normal for a while, then wham--back on the couch.  i have no energy to do anything.  i had one period where i felt somewhat normal for two days and though, at last, i was on the mend, and then awoke with a terrible headache and the achy lethargy totally back.  getting blood tests tomorrow.  i've done everything imaginable: detox baths, saunas; garlic; gallons of tea, honey, and lemon; mushrooms; chinese elixers; elderberry; and every other "natural" hooey imaginable.  i seem to always have this mild sore throat.  i can get about, go to a movie, but anything mildly exerting--or too much mild exertion (walking)--will leave me drained.  i'm 66 yrs old, but very healthy and athletic.  i'm supposed to go on a one-week ski vacation in two weeks, and now must cancel to get a refund as i have no confidence that i will get better.  i know of no one who has this, and my doc says no one has been coming in with a "6-week and continuing" virus.  it's getting me worried, and i'm beginning to feel like this is my life.

Your situation is more similar to mine than any of the others are.  I started off with a virus last September which cleared up after a couple of weeks and then at the beginning of December I started to feel ill again but much worse.  It started off with a dry cough and then I started to feel that general malaise.  I expected it to go away again but it didn't.  Finally, after 2 weeks I went to the doctor who prescribed antibiotics but they didn't help so I went back again and saw my own GP.  Blood tests showed I had mycoplasma pneumonia.  Different antibiotics this time. Since then I have never been really well.  Like you, some days I feel slightly better and think I'm getting over it but then I go down again.  I can't live a normal life at all.  I am so weak all I want to do is lie down most of the time.  I've tried going out to the shops but it tired me out so much.  I also have an ongoing sore throat, especially in the mornings.   Excessive sweating also and headaches.  I know exactly what you mean when you say you "feel like this is my life". I'm feeling the same way.  You didn't mention having a weird feeling when you wake up like your body is vibrating but I am still having that.  3 months this has all been going on. I went back to the doc this morning and he sent me for more blood tests to check me for just about anything he can think of including lupus and thyroid problems.  I am around the same age as you and usually very healthy so not used to this.  I don't drink or smoke and exercise when I'm well and eat mostly healthy food.

I know I've posted on this discussion recently but I only just read your post and I can relate to it more than any of the others.  Anyway, test results next week.  Will see what happens.

I live 3 years in the UK and found that doctors generally are not very good with diagnosing patients here. NHS or private - all the same.

I was suffering for 2 years with neurological problem, 9 month with gall bladder infection and a problem from gynaecology area. Nothing was solved ( or even diagnosed) here. Had to go back home to Ukraine, got help there. Always feel sorry for people who don't have access to medical professionals elsewhere.

The only ADVISE I can give - investigate for a good specialist if you can and go to Russia, Lithuania, Ukraine (perhaps not a good time to go to Ukraine right now).

    Good luck!

Absolutely. My two teens and I (London) have betw us had a collection of flu-like symptoms such as high temperatures, coughs, shivers, occasional nausea/vomiting etc for about four/five weeks. The symptoms come and go but are quite debilitating. Partly I think people are too busy to take time off school and work so they don't recover properly and spread the viruses around. My husband hasn't had it yet touch wood - might just be lucky but he had a flu jab, we didn't. Last winter I was the same and it didn't really clear up properly until we got warmer weather. Seems like another clever virus has managed to trick our immune systems. We're all going to make sure we get flu jabs next year!

You guys should've try herbal treatment or insted of antibiotics. Its very simple to read about. For instance google for herbs such as thyme - chamomile - honey benefits do vapor inhalations. I believe its a lot more better to natures treatment cos we are part of it, than chemicals.

I have posted this method in other thread here, but seems its very related issue and I am suggesting you to give a try.

Try some simple traditional methods to improve respiratory and seems it helps me out. Here is very simple what you need to do and do very recommended:

    1. Hot water.

    2. A bowl.

    3. Body towel

    4. Thyme

    5. Chamomile

So, fill the bowl with hot water, add a table spoon of dried thyme and chamomile flowers. Then get yourself over the bowl and cover your head with a towel and breath until a vapours gets cold. Inhale through your nose exhale via mouth and otherway inhale through your mouth exhale via nose.

After that make the same consistence tea, but use one tea spoon per each herb and a honey for a one cup ot tea.

This theraphy should be done before bed time. Try it out and I guarantee you'll get better.

I started feeling ill at the beginning of December 2015.  Thought it was just a virus and would go away. After 2 weeks I was no better so went to the medical centre.  My normal GP was away on holdays and the doctor I saw said it was a virus which had turned to a bacterial infection and gave me the same antibiotics I normally take for my frequent sinus infections.  A week later I felt worse and went to see my regular GP who sent me for blood tests.  It showed I had mycoplasma pneumonia and he gave me some stronger antibiotics. 2 weeks later I went back again as although I felt slightly better I was far from right.  He told me my there might be a bit of a problem with my thyroid but that doesn't explain all my symptoms. Also said I might have another virus on top of the mycoplasma and that the only thing to do is rest.  I have now been practically bedridden for 3 months.  I have constant headaches and wake up with a sore throat every day, Also when I wake up I feel as though my whole body is vibrating in a really weird way.  So weak and achy all over and absolutely no energy.  Getting to the point of being depressed as there seems no end to it.  I can't live a normal life. I'm going back to see the doctor tomorrow to see if he can think of anything else and give me some sort of hope.

Hi. Sorry you feel so bad. However I want to ensure you that so was I at the beginning of the last week. I had several panic attacks from nowhere and could not sleep properly at all like you're saying the body was vibrating. A&E and GP appeared unable to explain to me whats happening to my body. Take made a heart check, took blood samples and other bits and still nothing. I mean all the results was normal. Finaly after 5 days i started to feel a pain in my stomack and its appeared that its a gastro issues with my stomack and the acids intoxicated the whole body. I was feeling heaviness on my chest and and hard to breathe and still do sometimes but after inhalations I feel rapid improvement. I think we should not completely rely on doctors, I realised that they are not magicians at the end of the day, we have to remember that the medications they are giving to all of us are nothing else but compiled chemicals that trying to remove symptoms (most of them) and in someway harming the other part of the body. I would say we need highly concern about our diet and try natural remiedies such a herbal teas and also discard bad habits from life as I did. And to be honest I feel a lot more better today either way. I would suggest you to browse internet not for symptoms, but for remedies which would be boosting your immuni system and help the body to battle the issue and become even stronger.

As stated in my previous post, I believe you are right about finding remedies. I have also found that natural remedies are a true and lasting source for healing. So I will be posting an update after I visit the doctor again and change some of my eating habits. Haha

I can see that this is a very old thread, however I had a similar illness around this time off year when I was living in Michigan. I have had only two cases that were this bad. Both of them were during winter and springtime. I have a current situation that is very similar. I believe I will be going back to see a doctor if the antibiotics don't work the first time. I'm generally a very healthy person. But both times I used natural remedies to help aid my healing. Such as garlic and juicing vegetables with lemon. Those seemed to help a lot. I also had essential oils and vitamins with a natural chest rub which helped bring up a lot of the trapped phlegm. My symptoms now just include various flu and cold ones. But I've never been so sick in all my life for such a long period of time. I'd say I've been feeling nauseous on and off for several weeks. I'm not pregnant. Lol. Just had to put that in there. And I have recently been waking up drenched in sweat. Also a very rare thing for me. Hoping to see another doctor very soon.

Yes I've also had this like what seems like forever , my doctor was telling me repeatedly that there were lots of viruses around with these symptoms and just gave me antibiotics and I really don't like taking them

i also had sinusitis and I've only just started with this over the last 2years

i campaign for chemtrails and they sent me a message saying that there is flu like virus been confirmed by doctors that has been caused by all the spraying in our skies , I spoke to several people and they said they have struggled for months in pain with flu symptoms, sinusitis coughs some of them were admitted to hospital they were to ill to cope !! Other than this I haven't got any further with this problem but no matter what it is it isn't going away !! I live i stoke on trent and it's now 2016 and no more answers to it!!

I came down with this condition, January 24, 2016 after a counseling session with a lady  who said she had a bad cold she couldn't get rid of.  Within 48 hrs. I had a horrible sore throat and head ache that led to 60 days of reoccuring bouts of drainage and coughing.  Finally it let up and I was without drainage for three days and WHAM!  I had cramps and diahrrea, aches and shooting jabs all throughout my lymph nodes and muscle aches and joint pain in my elbows and wrists.  I was sweating and freezing at the same time, listless and emanciated.  I am up today; but still have extreme amounts of gas and indigestion.  I am 65 years old and not sure how much more my body can take.  Do you think this is a manufactured bug?
