Could I Have an Ovarian Cyst? Thoughts & Help Anyone??

Hello All,

Can anyone help? About 4 weeks ago, I started with very frequent urination and indigestion/wind/belching. Both symptoms were intermittent, but worse when I got my period. My bladder constantly felt full, achy and very uncomfortable, even after passing urine. I was treated for a UTI with antibiotics, but not much relief and no bacteria found in urine. However the symptoms do come and go and vary in intensity. Other symptoms - a noticeably larger, bloated looking abdomen, which feels heavy & draggy at times (I'm not pregnant) sometimes a stitch type sensation and slightly achy sides, but not bad. My periods have also changed recently - shorter cycle and heavier/longer periods. Full bloods done which all came back normal and good. CA125 results also came back normal/good. Doc thinks perhaps still UTI or slight prolapse or fibroid. Someone else mentioned IBS. I've booked an app with a gynaecologist in two weeks and am also awaiting an ultrasound app. I am 42 years old and otherwise fit and healthy... Oh, apart from a wee anxiety issue! Namely, health anxiety! Great! I'm worried and wondering what it could be. I'm thinking maybe a cyst!? Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance guys xx

This is just the same symptoms as me, I hve been back and forward with urine samples everyone clear, eventually the Dr is sending me for a scan on the 12/3. All. Y bloods have come back ok, I have been demented with worry. I have also felt so bloated and it feels like trapped wind too. I get a sharp pain in my left groin sometimes too. The thing I'm finding hard is getting up every 2hrs at night for the loo - does anyone else have this problem?

Trips to the bathroom were a very regular occurrence except for the day they wanted yet another sample then I couldnt go at all!

When I get up in the night and go I get a really dull ache in the bottom of my back and into my hip it's as if I've held onto it got ages! Anyone experienced this?

Hi Ashlee, thank you for your reply too! It really does help to know we are not alone and there are many others who share our weird and not so wonderful symptoms. I too am up and down every couple hours through the night - sometimes every hour or half hour! That's the part I don't quite understand. How can symptoms be bad one day and not so bad the next? Yesterday I was uncomfortable, peeing every 40 mins, bloated and achy bladder. Today not so bad. Are you the same? I get the trapped wind like you too. Have you had an ultrasound or any scans yet? x

Yes it's so weird some days are worse than others. Sometimes my wee is ammonia like as well, I ger these really weird gurgling noises too it's like some many different symptoms. I have my scan in 2 wks, I honestly feel that the drs haven't taken me seriously. Thing is somedays the nausea and the way you feel is awful!

Yes, I know what you mean! I haven't had the ammonia wee, but I do get the gurgling noises. The nausea comes and goes for me, but is not too bad thankfully. I do get fatigue, achy muscles and headaches with eye strain too. Although I wonder if anxiety causes or exacerbates many of the symptoms. When did your symptoms first start and how bad does your frequent urination get? Have you had an ultrasound yet or just going straight in for a CT scan in two weeks? x

i've had my symptoms for over 3 years.

in that time they have altered several times.

the gp here in spain never lays hands on your body, just sends you to various departments at the hospital.

7 different gynnos, all men. macho spanish men.

      their verdict 'normal'.

so also got sent to digestive dept and had some horrible tests.

had some urology tests that didnt seem to be very scientific and was diagnosed with chronic pelvic pain. for gods sake i already knew that.

although i always felt i wanted to pipi, the flow was very slow.it trickled everywhere except the toilet bowl.

oh and told i had ibs.

anyway after a ct scan they say i have 2 polyps and fibroids.

i get my operation on tuesday.

it will be interesting what they actually find.

my polyps apparently are on the right but all my probs have been on the left.

sometimes i feel the little beastie wiggling about almost in my groin.

its bazzar like a baby kick.

so will give feedback in a couple of days.

      wish me luck.!

I'll be thinking of you on Tuesday and sending positive energy your way! Hope all goes well! Let us know! I've only just embarked on the diagnosis process - it will be interesting to see if mine is a cyst, fibrous, polyp or none of the above. Did you also get intermittent very frequent urination too? Bladder pressure? Funny as I too get a tickly, wriggling sensation too, like a little baby kick as you describe - I just put mine down to wind moving about! I wish I was in Spain just now - but not to see the macho gynos 😃 Good luck and best wishes for Tuesday x

      hi carla,

yesterday (wednesday) was my first full day post op and i feel fine.

a few growly tummy pains but no worse than i had before.didnt need painkillers.

the worst thing was my dry mouth when i couldnt have a drink afterwards.

so nice to wake up from the anesthetic with a positive feeling.

      thanks for your support.

      Hi Chica

Great to hear all went well and you are feeling pretty good so soon after surgery. Good news 👍 How are you healing and feeling almost a week on? I have my gynae app this Friday. Catch up soon... x

i dont know what to think.

my pain is still there in where i think my left ovary is.

yesterday i had a sneezing fit and today am bleeding fresh clean blood.

the medics said my ovaries are perfect but cos i dont believe they've solved my problem ,i am imagining i must have popped a cyst sneezing yesterday.

looking forward to post op appointment but no sign of it yet.

      Hey

How are you feeling now? Has the post op bleeding stopped and the pain subsided? I hope all settling well and you are on the up now? It may have been the sneezing fit, hopefully. I had my gynae app yesterday - she didn't have access to the transvaginal scope, so I've to see her again at a different hospital on Mon to have that done. She felt my abdomen and carried out an internal - all looks and feels normal. She said I could have a small cyst of fibroid, but small ones don't usually cause symptoms. Hoping transvaginal picks something up Monday. She did say symptoms could be down to my ulcerative colitis. It's active just now, but I've never had the symptoms I have now, during a flare up. Guess I'll need to get it checked with a gastro if no joy with gynae. Oh the joys! Speak soon x

      Hey

How's your week going? I'm sorry to hear you are still in discomfort and pain 😞 Do you think you'll start to feel better as time goes on and you fully heal from the surgery? I hope that is the case! I was diagnosed with UC about 8 or 9 years ago - it started with tummy ache/pain, wind & gurgles, diarrhoea, progressing to passing blood and mucous and frequent/urgent trips to the loo for a no2. I lost a lot of weight, felt stressed and run down, always tired, couldn't eat much as it would come out the other end. Very painful. I found a nutritional naturopath and healed/controlled it well through diet and supplements. I've had flare ups over the years, but nothing major. So here's the interesting bit - I had a transvaginal 3 hours ago - all my lady bits look healthy and normal. However she did see a lot of bowel activity and inflammation. She showed me on the screen. The bowel was hiding one of the ovaries, but she could not feel anything and is confident both ovaries and uterus etc are all normal. So recommended I have a colonoscopy and get my bowel and UC checked. Maybe the inflamed bowel has been pressing on my bladder!? At least I know where to look next 👍 What is next for you? x

      hi carla

i dunno what to think anymore.

i cant believe how rubbish these doctors are.

i've just about stopped bleeding from the polypectomy.

      i'm back to square 1.

pressure on bladder,bm like a cowpat, knife in left ovary area, indigestion going up to my chest after food, sex painful, wiggly feeling in groin.

in november 2013 i treated myself to 7 days on Flagyl and i was well for 3 weeks then it all come back.

decided to try it again, this time 10 days i think.

when i go for my post op appointment i'll keep stum and see what they have to say.

when i ask my gp if it could be one of my sterilization clips moved or a vein she just gives me the spanish shrug. i always come out of an appointment shell shocked.!

no wonder i take things into my own hands now and then.

so chica is gonna be tea total for a while on the antibiotics.

lets know how you get on with the colonoscopy.

      Hi Chica

Apologies for the late reply! How are you getting on and how are your symptoms now... Dare I ask? I hope you are feeling better than a few days ago and things are beginning to settle!? Any news on your post op app? I wonder what's going on - do you think they missed something? I had the transvaginal on Monday - lady bits all normal and healthy - no cysts or fibroids to be seen. She could only see one ovary as my very active bowel was obstructing view of the other. However she is confident hidden ovary is normal and my active and inflamed bowel would suggest my symptoms are due to UC. Saw my GP yesterday. Now waiting for gastro app and colonoscopy. Bladder pressure and frequent urination bothering me more than UC symptoms just now. Oh the joys!! Let us know how you are getting on x

      hi carla.

i'm just the same as before if not a bit worse.

i suppose they jiggled my uterus about when they did the polypectomy.

maybe its in a different position.

i got it into  my head that i had kidney stones stuc in my ureter last week so started taking lemon juice or ACV with olive oil or cononut oil and hot water. yeh i read it helps somewhere on internet.

god i was stiff as a board after a few days but still had my pain.

i've definitely decided i want a laparoscopia diagnostica and if this next app dont come up with the goodies i'm going private.

oh i put myself on flagyl in desperation and its made no difference.

cant have a drink though so been a party pooper concerning rugby on saturday and st patricks night coming up.then so much dressing up at easter.bugger!

i seem to have missed out for 3 years.

i'm one of these people that needs a dram to socialise.

your pain sounds just like mine.

do you have sterilization clips by any chance.

i've seen an xray with one of mine open.

apparently they can cause abcesses inside.

of course that theory fell on deaf ears.

over a year ago i paid for MRI and the report said multiple fibroids but the CD of my scan has never been looked at by health service.

they really dont have much time for ex pats here.

2 years ago on the results of my first CT scan with contrast it said irregular ligament.

my latest CT i must wait until end of june for results appointment.

we'll get there in the end kiddo.!

      Hey

How's your day been? That's awful you are feeling worse than you did pre op! What's going on? Do you think you may have kidney stones that they missed? I have warm water with lemon juice every morning and use coconut oil a lot too. You may well need to go private if no answers or progress at next app - it's the not knowing and waiting - as well as the awful symptoms. My bladder pressure and frequent urination are particularly bothersome today. Arrgghh! Chin up lovey - I feel sure we will get to the bottom of our issues and feel good and 'normal' again soon. No sterilisation clips going on here.

Are you Scottish by any chance? 😀

Can't believe you have to wait till June to discuss latest CT results. And why aren't they taking your previous MRI and CT scans into account? I really do feel for you and hope you turn a corner with it all very soon.

      Keep me posted 👍👍 x
