I always rather fancied turning into a mature hippy :diva:

Just imagine all those lovely loose kaftans smile

    A kaftan ....... [size=18:9b63629220]perfect[/size:9b63629220]

Like Mama Cass (for you youngsters, M C was an amply proportioned singer in the 60s with the most beautiful voice ..... she died very young, having choked on food sad

And what about Demis Roussos (sp????)

    Lovely voice, lovely kaftans

Oh I'd love to float around Eastbourne in a silky kaftan - rainbow coloured I think :rainbow:

Yes Daisy ...... in fact a kaftan could be our uniform ..... would make Teedie and Lou Lou's job in the laundry much easier if we were all wearing the same things

I can see them all now ..... billowing on the line in the salty Eastbourne sunshine .... a mass of psychodelic (spelling??) colours :magic:

Oh dear - do you think we should get polyester ones to save on the ironing?

(Then we'd blend nicely with the genteel polyester-clad residents of Eastbourne )

It would be awful to give Teedie and Lou repetitive strain injury

Think they will have to be pure cotton actually Daisy ..... we might just get a bit on the sweaty side with polyester :yuk:

But we could invest in one of those ironing blow up thingys (can't think what they are called :? ) That would save the girls a lot of hassle. Mind you it would have to be a gi-normous one the way we are all going

:puff: :puff: :puff: :puff: :puff: :puff:

Thank you all so much for your replies yes I know the kaftan feeling too so I'll join that club with you all I am also on anti depressants have been for years also got Amitriptiline for nerve pain but made me so spaced out I wont take it can be foggy enough headed without pills to make me that way

Had not too bad a day today went for lunch and some shopping with old workmates had to retire because of condition so it was nice catching up with gossip but now very tired but at least it was an achievement considering it was heavy snow although not too cold as that is a major disaster just freeze to the bone and feel so weak hope everyone is coping today love Mo

    Hi maurich (Mo)

It's always good to feel that you have achieved something even if you do ultimately suffer as a result .... somehow we have to find a happy medium with this darn illness, but it's not always easy to do .... but well done for coping as you did. We all seem to suffer badly from the cold conditions ... poor temperature control is yet another ME symptom sad

I was originally prescribed Amitrip. and it absolutely knocked me for six. A pharmacist has since told me that as well as starting on a really low dose it should be taken early in the evening so as not to affect the next day too much, and then build up the dose gradually. We all react differently to drugs so it's just a case of finding out what suits each individual.

Glad that you feel you would like to join the kaftan club :D As you will have now discovered, our various threads tend to start off on a serious note and then suddenly decline into something completely daft and silly :silly: ..... but that is our only way of staying sane these days ...... I warn you it is very contagious

    Take care

Righto then, I am off to get the sewing machine out and have my hair dyed pink :run: :diva:

I shall be taking orders for designer kaftans soon, the only measurements I need are height and width  I have to agree with Katie on the choice of cotton though, I suffer from static electricity and I wouldn't want to imagine what I would look like with a [i:e56ae845d6]clingy[/i:e56ae845d6] kaftan.

Glad you are going to join us maurich

What a stunning bunch we will all make strolling along Eastbourne sea front ..... oooer, hope we don't get blown away

Mo - Eastbourne is where we intend to set up our own ME rest home   As Katie says, we often turn our serious subjects into something silly, sometimes our sense of humour seems to be all we have left that is [i:e56ae845d6]normal [/i:e56ae845d6]

    Take care

Hee hee hee, I have a mental image of us strolling along the prom arm in arm with kaftans billowing in the wind, like a row of barrage balloons. [img:1c431aa091]http://bestsmileys.com/lol/1.gif[/img:1c431aa091]

Oh gawd .... think I had better invest in some knickers after all:shock:

Nothing wrong with a colourful barrage balloon Alicia

I think we will be the toast of the town and help to brighten up the residents of our adopted seaside retreat :rainbow: :nahnah: :rainbow:

Oh Katie I had forgotten about your lack of undergarments, well if it is good enough for a Scotsman then it must be good enough for you :wow:

Perhaps I could run you up a pair of baggy bloomers to preserve your modesty on windy days :puff: , 100% cotton of course, can't risk get hot and bothered  :cdouble:

Kristal - how about sewing some weights round the hem of Katie's kaftan
  • Posted

I think Katie must be right about us because that thought had occured to me too  :ok:

The only problem would be the amount of weight used :?

Too little and she would lose her modesty and too much and she wouldn't be able to move

Well, I suppose we could all sit in one of James's forklift trucks (chauffeur-driven + mini-bar of course ) and then it wouldn't matter

I can see it now - all of us crammed into a truck with our colourful kaftans billowing around us (Katie could sit on hers  ) :rainbow: :diva:
