A uti JUST came back this morning after almost 2 years (cries, this sucks!!) that darn ol' burning pain!! - I purchased PURE oil of oregano pills. I've been taking them for colds and flu's and such, and I took one this morning an it seemed to have rid myself of the uti, burning pain has died down a bit. Lets hope it works fully.

Tristan, for the future I would recommend oregano oil drops also in water. They are super strong. Last time I had a bad uti, it didn't cure it but since then I've been taking it as a natural antibiotic every day instead of the real deal antibiotics. Another product I would recommend is Sambucul (elderberry). I discovered this very recently and if I feel a bad burning twinge coming on I take it. I think it's helping. It had sulphur in it also which is good for uti's.

Thank you! I will try Sambucul. That burning feeling in bladder/uretha went away for almost 2 years and no its back... usually when Im ovulating after my period. Its sooo strange!! Doc's can't figure it out.. The joy's of being a woman.

Really? My worst pain is during ovulation or right after my period. I just started birth control and still burn during when ovulation would be too. I take the liquid form of Sambucol. I just feel liquid is better with everything but I know they have tablets too. I try to limit it when I really need it so my body doesn't become immune to it but it does help. I'm thinking of trying echinacea too. I heard good things about it.

I forgot to say I was diagnosed with interstitial cystitis. I got a lot of uti's over the past year but they eventually stopped showing up. The burning has remained. I am on Elmiron for IC so the burning definitely has gone down but I still flare during the most hormonal times of the month.

Hi. I hope everyone who suffers with UTI gets to read this... I've had recurring UTI for the past 11 years. Drs say I'm one of those women that are susceptible to infections and I should follow the routine of drinking lots of water, wiping in one direction, peeing before and after sex etc, etc. But I've always done all of those in any case and still got them continuously. I did my own tracking or awareness of when I got them and realised, most often, it happened when my partner (for 11 years) fingered me during foreplay, that UTI occurred. Bacteria is in fingernails (no matter how short or even clean, they sometimes get there!) AND/OR in the folds of the skin on a man's penis. Basically not being fingered stopped me from getting UTI. If you really need to have it in your foreplay, ask him to use a condom on hisfingers. As for sex, it can be touch and go, cause this depends on if the folds of his skin could have bacteria and because there's no guarantee of knowing, using a condom might be safer.

I've done the above and all the regular things of peeing regularly, drinking lots of water etc, and my UTI has stopped completely. If this doesn't work for you, be more vigilant of what your pattern is. You could be getting it for a different reason but I hope I've shed some light and helped someone.

This is from a friend's experience....There are mycoplasma diseases. Some are extremely common in the population because they don't cause symptoms in most people. But some people have immune systems which react to them but cannot get rid of them. The thing about symptoms is that there are not very many compared to all the diseases which exist. So you have to test to decide what the disease is.

There is a disease called ureaplasma. I have heard that as much as half the population has it. My friend came up with this disease. His urologist sent two tests off, one to a large commercial lab and one to a university lab. The commercial lab test didn't show it but the university lab did. After treatment for it, he was fine. His partner had never had a symptom.

So, ask your doctor to try testing for something like this. Also, you are age 47. In my family early menopause begins in the forties. Thinning vaginal tissue and eventual skin fissures troubled me. I went on hormone replacement. This is another thing to discuss with your doctor. He can test for hormones that will indicate if this is occurring.

I have been suffering with constant UTI's since I was 8 years old. I am now 32. At one time I had one that was so bad it lasted one year. I tried every antbiotic under the sun. The pain was so bad the only way I could get any sleep was to sleep in a hot bath, I could not even walk it was so awful. I finally managed to get that infection under control after a very high dose and long term of Macrobid. I am now immune to this though as I am to all other antibiotics. It is impossible for me to have sex, or I get an infection that can take weeks to get rid of. Not only that, but it is very painful as I believe my infection is permeantly there. I have E.Coli and biofilms which must have been there years - this has been proved by a Professor in London. I am now going to start taking some bio film disruptors, I heard that it is important to take D-Mannose whilst you do this, as when the Bio films break down they release E.Coli and the D-Mannose attracts this and it flushes out in the urine. What I am wondering is how much D-Mannose I should take? I have read every single comment here (so much useful information, and it's so nice to know I am not alone) and it seems that I am supposed to start with a high dose for the first few days and then reduce it for a 3 month period. If I am disrupting bio-films though, should I not take the D-Mannose at a high dossage until they are gone? Or is three months on a high dose not good for me? I actually have no idea how long it will even take me to disrupt the biofilms. But if anyone can tell me what dose I should be taking whilst I do of the D-Mannose, it would be a massive help. Are there any risks taking it long term at a high dose? I am looking to take the Biofilm disruptor from Kirkman Labs as well as known bio film breakers such as garlic and Olive leaf extract. X

      Hi Lauracharlotte,

I had UTI for more than 20 years but I rarely use antibiotics, mostly herbs like uva ursi. More recently it improved significantly with the use of several Biofilm disruptors like Nattokinase, Lactoferrin and Olive leaf extract. I also tried Interfase plus from Klair labs but I had strong side effects with this one. You can google where to buy all these and the dosage too. I remember that D-Mannose was also helpful during my past attacks but uva ursi worked better for me. My friend got rid of most of her symptoms just with cayenne and garlic. I think you need to find which herbs and Biofilm disruptors will work best for you.

Also google Pantry Pharmacy Website run by a lady named Rebecca Wittwer. She also runs a Facebook group called Live Strong. There I learned the use of urethra paste using activated charcoal. This really helped me a lot. There is also a preparation for making vaginal bullets, which many women on the site found effective but I did not try that one as it required more effort. You will meet so many women there with similar struggles and their daily updates on how they are winning the fight against UTI will inspire you.

      All the best,

      judy

      Hi Lauracharlotte,

poor you...you are too young to be suffering like this. I don’t know about biofilms(but will look into them!). I have been taking D-Mannose for the last 3 months and seem to be infection free. I still have the urgency fluttery feeling but no cultures grow when I send a sample in. To begin with I took a teaspoon of the powder in water every 3 hours, including overnight, and now I take a teaspoon full morning and night only. Hope that helps.

By the way, I got this advice from this forum which is so helpful

Judy Marie, I will research  the biofilm disrupters.  My chronic bladder infection has been nearly non stop for  the past four years although I have a history from early marriage years.

This morning  I got painful symptoms after being on antibiotics for seven days!  My Urologist appointment was also this morning, a good thing I thought..

She told me that there is NO cure for bladder infection!  She wouldn’t prescribe another antibiotic until cultured results return  in 3-4 dayssad. I am taking AZO for the pain. Pee is orange and it took five hours for full relief.

The Urologist said I have to use a biweekly estrogen vaginal cream, Dmannose, and Methenamine (expensive) daily & indefinitely.

She cautioned use of antibiotics saying that in years ahead I’d be in trouble as nothing will work!

I also asked her about biofilm and her response was that women live with biofilm for years and have no problems. She didn’t address me tackling the problem!

She rolled her eyes over lemon, garlic, oil of oregano etc..

If anyone else has defeated bladder biofilm please let me know your story. Thank you.

Hi Laura Charlotte, the highest dosage l take of d-mannose to clear my kidney infections is 1 tablet every 1/2 hour for the first  2 days and then 1 x tablet every hour on the 3rd day.  Just before going to sleep and again when l wake l always take a couple of extra tablets as an added precaution given that l may not be taking any tablets during the night.  I have no side effects except some bloating which disappears as soon as l drop back to normal dosage.  I even manage to do 100km peleton bike rides during the treatment period.  Most infections are gone by then.  If not, l start the 3 day treatment again just to be sure.
