Diagnosed today and I feel sad
Posted , 6 users are following.
I saw a doctor twice who told me it was nothing and to put Vaseline on it but luckily there was information on the internet so I went to get a second opinion and it was confirmed to be LS by biopsy.
I expected that diagnoses since my spots looked just like the pictures but still I just feel sad now.
I already have hypothyroidism, tinnitus, and I also just found a mole that is changing and a new mole that I never saw before.
Just overwhelmed now and sad.

Patricia - Oh, dear...most of us have another variation on autoimmune disorder...for me it is thyroid (I go for another scan next week, as the nodules are growing).
You can handle this! It seemed to take me quite a few months to get the swing of it...for me, that meant learning how it seems to react with external yeast infections, UTIs, and food. But, to be honest, the dietary changes are good, and this forces me to be compliant. Didn't want to know as much about UTIs as I now do, but there are all kinds of good people who share their wisdom.
You got this! It will be ok! In the big scheme of things, it is way better than the news other people get! You will do just fine...you'll just need to learn how to manage it and how to be a good advocate for your own health.

It does take a while to absorb the news. I hadn't a clue. Knew I had atrophy and thought I was getting an infection. Then was examined and got the surprising (to say the least) diagnosis. Assume you have been prescribed a steroid; it makes a big difference. Like most of us you will probably become obsessed with figuring out LS affects you personally as we all seem to have different renditions. This site helps as you won't be on your own.

Dear Patricia 22367,
Yes, It is shocking at first! Please take heart, it will get under control. I"m 73 and only discovered the LS 2 years ago. They weren't even positive that it is an autoimmune disease then. BUt I went searching everywhere on line and found it.... and oh, so much more about autoimmune issues in general. I too have hypothyroidism. Both of these are autoimmune diseases.
I learned that a researcher has found that if we have one autoimmune condition we are at risk of up to 7,SEVEN other ones. So then I went in total full on research into what I could do about that! NUTRITIONAL DEFICIENCIES etc.
I feel comfortable now, and it takes a firm commitment to a food change and supplement routine and being sure to drink enough water, and sleep enough, and no sugar etc. But hey! it's all doable and will become second nature- smiles. really.
IF you like here are my messages on here of what I discovered. These should give you a great start.

Wow, thank you so much! I will read this, I definitely don't want more diseases, I can't believe my doctors never said anything about changing my diet, they say to eat whole foods but nothing about avoiding or adding specific foods...
Thank you, I do feel a little better each day already.
