Hi can anyone help please I have been diagnosed with Diverticular Disease but I get a lot of pain in my right side' also at the bottom of my tummy it feels like I have pebbles rolling around. I have also had a gastric bypass 5 years ago so eating bran is something I cant do and to be honest don't need as I go too much neutral as soon as I eat I am in the loo and I am so scared when I go out because I know if I get a little anxious I need the loo and I wont eat out because of the same reason. It feels my life revolves around the loo day and night and I am getting so drained and tried by it all. Can anybody help please my doc don't seem to know what to do neutral Thanks for reading x

I really feel for you Joan, as I have been despairing sometimes as to what I could eat. Popcorn, you sound like a lovely lady and it is so good to be in touch with others that have the same problem as I do not know of anyone else. When I have been really unwell, my husband just says "go to the doctor" but of course I have been to the doctors loads of times and it has never done any good. Even the hospitals do not have any advice to give us. As for husbands retiring, I have been really stressed out since mine retired and he was past 70 when he retired. He can't even wash up without me having to redo things afterwards. To make matters worse he has a hearing problem and won't have a hearing aid so mishears what is said to him and then swears that I said something different. I love it when he goes fishing for a few hours, it is so good to have the house to myself. As you say Popcorn, men are a separate species. Men retire but women never do.

I have tried herbal teas but am not very keen on them, I do have soya milk on cereal but made the mistake of eating some muesli last week and had really bad pains. I haven't tried rice milk.

      Hi all

I am 41 and was diagnosed about a month ago can I ask how you know when you have a flare up. I have been in alot of pain the last 4 or 5 days. Tierd and weepy (allthough this is becoming the norm) joint pain, really hot on a night and my urine is hot. However I do not have diorhea or blood in my poo. Was wondering if I should go to docs, but to be honest she does not seem very interested.

I will say that my husband has been great when I have had hospital appointments or when I passed out with a bowel infection in February and hit my head and cut it, he called an ambulance and came with me to the hospital. I was checked over really well and came home with antibiotics. Other times

when I have had stomach ache and said that I don't feel well, he has dozed in front of the TV while I have stood there in front of the cooker, cooking dinner and just feeling as though all I want to do is lie down. Men only have to get a finger ache and they take to their beds and get sympathy from everyone.

Sometimes it is more difficult to buy a hot water bottle in the summer. Last time I bought two from a nearbye chemist as the ones sold at Boots do not seem as large as they used to be.

Joan, are you like me in that you do all the organising in your house? Such as looking after the bank account, sorting out what shopping is required, paying all the bills? etc., etc.,? Because this is what seems to tire me out and make me stressed which of course upsets the digestive system.

I just tried to look at the Fodmap diet on Google but one of the websites froze up. I will have another go in a minute.

Hi girls thanks for your kind comments just like to help others as much as I can from my own experience like another sufferer like me years ago said if you think of your bowels like a sausage skin put something rough into it it will spit and bang at you put something soft and nice it treat you with respect and good

Mind focus respect and less stress take everyday as it comes there's always a remedy without gp and hsp help (that's if we got any )

Rice milk loads better than soya

Found ginger tea and peppermint tea better leave the bag in cup with boiled water leave for upto 5 minutes or drink with it in taste loads better longer you leave it soaking I add 1 tsp sugar or honey for sweetness but put honey in first to dissolve otherwise disasters will happen not a pretty sight

As for hubby's especially deaf ones that think their hearings good think we all got one now petty chris my hubby can't hear me all the time were be divorced by now hehehe

Love him really ( especially when he's out )

Well as normal u know I'm here 24/7

    Take care Kaz xxx

Men are only good for one thing Hun

    MOANING

And you forget women are not allowed to be ill and get any help with their duties as you know men can't multitask without a women's help and a newspaper

I will try to have another look at the Fodmap diet, I do wonder if bread causes some of my problems. I love bread and do make my own so do not eat what I call factory made bread but only usually eat bread lunchtimes. I will also buy some ginger and peppermint tea and persevere with it instead of ordinary tea with cows milk. I have tried various breakfast cereals and don't really know what to eat for breakfast. if I don't eat anything, I feel light headed so have to eat something in the morning.

Just thought I better introduce myself

    I'm 47 married to chris ( 60 ) with one daughter 14 years old

Full time carer of my father who's disabled after my mother died 2010 from Hodgkin's lymphoma I have ibs

Diverticulitis allergy to wheat dairy nuts and the big one chiantiliti syndrome what I hear you ask is that its all my bowel has moved from over from the right to mass heap on the left

Tried all prescribed medication had all test possible and was told I wouldn't cope with the above but one year ago chucked all medication in bin and learnt food is not bad but learnt to eat correct and how to cope through bad days ever that or have it all out and bag attached that never going to happen

Timing for eating is vital and breakfast is a nightmare has been empty for over 12 hours for which gas has time to build up my breakfast is gluten free bread toasted with marmalade gives me roughage and glucose to kick start the day with dairy free butter normal eat about 9 then 12 ish have wheat free crackers with ham ( not processed ) or my home made soup that I natch make on Sundays

Lunch vegetables that I'm allowed either mash pasta ( gluten free ) jacket potato chicken steamed in oven fish or turkey or beef do not eat pork or lamb due to fat plays havoc
