Hi can anyone help please I have been diagnosed with Diverticular Disease but I get a lot of pain in my right side' also at the bottom of my tummy it feels like I have pebbles rolling around. I have also had a gastric bypass 5 years ago so eating bran is something I cant do and to be honest don't need as I go too much as soon as I eat I am in the loo and I am so scared when I go out because I know if I get a little anxious I need the loo and I wont eat out because of the same reason. It feels my life revolves around the loo day and night and I am getting so drained and tried by it all. Can anybody help please my doc don't seem to know what to do Thanks for reading x

Don't be so hard on yourself Angie we all have days when we eat the wrong thing we are only human after all and I for one often eat what I shouldn't because I get fed up with being a good girl all the time lol have some boiled water that may help put a little sugar in if you want it may help. Carol I know what you mean about writing a book im the same when I look at what I have to take in one day I think shoot me now its faster lol but we are strong and we can get through the hard times more so when you have someone you can cry to or rant to it all helps and that's what we are here for oh and thanks Kaz I really do need a port a potty lol every time I go in to big shop I need a loo tell you my tummy hates shopping mind you yesterday was a bad one sorry girls but god did it smell and there was not anything I could do I turned round when a lady was looking and I know im bad but I blamed it on the men hehe just hope she didn't see my red face but as much as I hate it there's not a thing I can do about it and I know its not something we are use to talking about that why we come on here so we can talk about it because it is an illness and we should not feel ashamed because we have it. Cor Kaz that's a lot for me to say in one go lol so now its your turn hehe

No wasn't in hsp for glandular was in for 12 days why had extensive test done was dygnosed with cvs and cup and spill to and to my list nothing can be done only help with medications to help me go back four weeks to review but if the extensive pain or frequency of attacks don't change have to concider having bowel removed which be last result for me so positive thinking and diet change but seeing I'm gluten and dairy intolerant only have to change the amount I eat and as mushy as possible
Have you tried natural yoghurt on your thrush as the girls know I try loads of herbal remedies of housewives temedues before I go down the medical route
Still do even with my cocktail of medication this helps with side effects which sounds like why you have thrush also dandelion tea or nettle tea which you can make yourself which highly benifial than bought tea

I was diagnosed with dd about a month ago, or I think I was, had a colonoscopy and the nures gave me a sketch of my bowl and said I had dd in 4 places my consultant now doesnt seem interested but refered me to a ddietitian (could be upto 2 years)
Anyway my symptoms are similar to yours pain, diarrhoea and bloating. The fear is worst I am scared to leave the house. I feel foolish as my husband just says just go to the loo before we leave. Could really do with some ssupport and advice as I have nowhere else to turn.

Sorry to hear you have DD its not easy to live with but you will' it will take some time but you will get there. First of all the men unless they have it dont understand and going to the loo befor you go out dont always work as i know i can go befor i go out but as soon as i get into a shop or anywhere i want to go again. Right first of all get yourself a check list of all the foods that will irritate it then cut out as much of it as you can . i find if i have ate something thats not good it feels like i have pebbles in the bottom of my tum and i know im in for a bad day. I know its boring to do but if you keep a list of what you eat just for a while then you can tick off what made you bad and what dont then have a week of what didnt make you bad and see how you feel . Its taken me months to get to a place that most of the time i can go out now and not have to worry i still have times where it flears up and theres not much i can do about it but i can live with that as long as its not all the time. It will get better as you change your diet' docs cant help because i dont think they know how to and a dietitian will tell you what best to eat but you can find that out on here . If you need to talk or need anymore help let me know best of luck. Joan x

Joan asked me to chat to you as we become very good friends since Joan first posted this thread
first like I helped Joan through understand this condition as you may know I have had divecultus for over four years also suffer food intolerance to many foods
Joan is correct in what she says eliminating foods from your diet that make you feel worse is your first step do not eat any seeds pips or gassy foods to help look at fodmap on the internet this will help eliminate gassy foods
diverticulitis is small bulge pockets in your intestines this is why pips and seeds are a no go as the get trapped in these pockets and cause irritation
with dd it can come at anytime even if you go to the loo before you go out unfortunately planning is you first key like if you go shopping make sure you know where the toilets are pack a emergency bag like knickers slacks and babywipes
drink pure water with your meals stay away from fizzy drinks as these also can upset intestines
ginger tea or peppermint tea ate also good
as the nhs have dignoised you both me and Joan know that's it you won't get any help there but know you found us and taken the right steps on being here we get you through this

Yes we dont talk a lot about exercise but as most of us know we feel better when we do it but i use to do a lot of swimming till it triggered my pain in my side off so now im down to taking the dog out more often and also for a lot of people exercise does make you head for the loo , its finding out what is right for each person but any tips that anybody has is very welcome even if it only helps one person.

I am intrested in your comment regarding hot dark wee - what does cause this, as for me this all started with a water infection and after a number of test ended up being told I had DD. Just couldnt work out how I got from A to B.
