DIVI DINERS

Posted , 82 users are following.

Returning from a hospital session of Drips and Deprevation (food) I was handed a Low Residue diet to follow. Scant in products, and information what to do with said products, I searced the web for more information,

onlt to find contradictory eat's and don't eats, so I thought that WE the

sufferers of food deprevation should start our own Divi Diners club and see if we can throw some light on the subject.

Ilove mushrooms, but cannot find any info about them.

How do we achieve our five a day if we can't eat fruit? Is it O.K. to take the

skins off?

Can we have chips or roasties,or fish with batter on?

Spices, do any of you use spices. and what do you put on spaghetti?

Can we blitz veggies, as stews and casseroles are forbidden?

Pastry is allowed, but no mentoin of which type.

So. can we help each other ,then at least when ,or if we ,dine out, we can

order something from the menu.

I cannot eat boiled potatoes ,eggs (is it O.K to have a fried one?)

jelly and rice pudding for ever. .

So please join in and share your doe's and dont's. mushrooms eaters

would be good to hear from.

I have to say I think wine was the main cause of my DD. I used to have a very stressful job and hit the bottle uqite often. When I was made redundant stress played a big part in DD, I used to wake up and my whole body was tense with my guts light taut elastic. I had to go to the doctor and the nurse there taught me relaxation techniques.

Hello DG,I think you have hit a button with the stress avenue,I go to a stress management course, and I swear the councellor can see straight into my brain .She gave me a.C.D which tells how to relax with breathing exercises. Hope you have weaned yourself off the wine ACID Big time. How are you doing at the moment ?

I am becoming quite concerned about the very limited amount and type of fresh fruitand vegetables that I can eat, as I did have plenty of both on a daily basis. The 5 a day mantra has gone out of the window, or, down the pan, I don't quite know  how  the vitamins and minerals in these products are to be replaced Has anyone resorted to vitamin supplements?

    Jacqueline

Yes to the supplements.  Apart from the usual stuff for ladies over a certain age, I take calcium + Vitamin D, glucosamine, A - Z multivitamins and cod liver oil.  None of these appear to have any action on the DD.  I also enjoy a glass of brandy and lemonade which again has no unpleasant side effects.  Perhaps the brandy soothes and relaxes?  This may fall in with the stress related flares.  But added to the DD, I have also suffered from migraines all my life.  So I try to avoid stress!!

I took co enzyme Q 10 and Aloe Vera capsules ,Flaxseed, and vitamin C and Manuka honey, but was frightened off, but they are now back on,

but I will miss my fruit and veggies. Stress is a different kettle of destruction, beaches  do me good but I no longer have immediate access to them  Driving on the back roads is good, but I now have to return to the point of the stress It's a pity there isn't a walk in stress clinic I wonder how the NHS would cope with that. AS IF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't do the Brandy cure I can't get past the smell of it

Happily I now have you lot to enjoy and benefits of everyones imput

      Cheers Juliet

With regard to supplements of all kinds, I'll tell it how I told my grandchildren!  You need to eat (or take) lots of different food items.  Your body sorts out what you need and discards the rest.  That way if your diet is lacking in some of the things that cause us pain, the supplements hopefully will fill the gap.

I know my diet lacks fruit and veg; I can't eat for the 'five a day' regime if I then end up in hospital!  So I add a bit in the form of various tableets; it's a whole lot less bother and pain.

Eat safe!  (And take the supplements....)

I have just replied to you and it has totally disappeared

so i am going to send this to see if it happens again

Hello Juliet, can't find my last Loooooooooong  mail anywhere , probably deleted by management.

Juliet , it has disappeared totally, whatever!!!!! I wondered if you wre told not to eat fruit and veg. What  I can't get my head around is the fact that our stomachs are full of powerful acids that can destroy buildings but not products that are mostly  water. Do yeast products cause you problems ? Eccles cakes  have filled lots of  spots in my life, but now has to stop, because of the raisens and bits..I am confined to Rich tea,

comparison to Comressed cardboard , and Shortbread; and that's it

Wonder where the other one went to?

Yuo can take Aloe Vera in capsule form then yo could do away with the juice ,-----and the Brandy,------------and the peppermint cordial. It's not the products themslves, it''s the smell of  'em.

Now Baileys is a different ball game It's best on it''s on without watering it down   cheers

Other forms of cream liqueurs are available and a lot cheaper.  There's one that sounds a bit like an Irish field....  Nothing wrong with the smell of brandy, unless it's on someone else's breath.  Hope you are all well and following all the advice hereabout.

Youv'e obviously interpreted donnags note.  You are better at translating what appears to be jibberish than me.  I have a recipe for 'homemade Baileys if anyone would like it. V. Cheap to make and so much better than the original.  Is Bradford another euphamism for fartting or trumping?  Your loving son,Jon
    • Posted

No ,Jon, Bradford is a city up't north. Leave the Baileys alone, there is no way you can improve on the original.

By the way have I just been adopted by a wrinkley??????????????????????

(I jest, of course, my in-laws hailed from Scarboro and my children boarded i Co. Durham.  Do I qualify as a pretend Northerner?).  Sadly, I can't do accent.  Eee

Not me Jon, Juliet pointed out your lack of knowledge on " barfing"

and NO you don't qualify for anything north of Watford You would be calleca "blow In" if you ventured up't north. You forgot to put the BI GUM on the end of your EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

Jac - I am so pleased for you.  Welcome back to the land of eating!  Just don't overdo it (anything) over the weekend.  Kind of "don't do anything I wouldn't do!"  All the best.  JB

Hi Jac. Last post (not the one with The Evening Prayer) We are off on hols tomorrow.  Pear sorbet for supper tonight - super.  I am pain free for take- off.  Incidentally, where is Watford?  Do keep in touch and make a note in your diary to email me on 30th June.  I will be anxious to know just how people (and you, of course, are doing).  As a long time sufferer you can really only discover what is 'good' or

'bad' over a period of time.  There really is no magic formula otherwise we would all be 'on board'  I am on the way but nowhere near a 'cure' Relaxation for short periods (Brian Redhead used to call them cat naps) is good.  Jon

Hey Jon, you will be missed, Won't have anyone to wind up. Your geography is rubbish, Watford is near The Gap !! You will be back just

in time to give me the "low down " on my path of discovery, well it will be for the bloke on the end of the camera .

Don't go eating any funny stuff.,even if it does look good enough to eat.

No doubt we will have some funny's to report we might even find that

annoying irritable owl. Enjoy ,relax and do whatever else turns you on

NO crackers , unless you chew them into a sloppy mess. My GP's

answer to all, no matter what I suffer from is,"are you drinking plenty of water?" Probably be good if you connect yourself to the hose pipe and turn the tap on,  Seious stuff now  D.G stop eating rubbish . Hope you feel better soon I suppose Paracetamol might take the edge off. Soft and sloppy tomorrow  O.K Jac
