DIVI DINERS

Posted , 82 users are following.

Returning from a hospital session of Drips and Deprevation (food) I was handed a Low Residue diet to follow. Scant in products, and information what to do with said products, I searced the web for more information,

onlt to find contradictory eat's and don't eats, so I thought that WE the

sufferers of food deprevation should start our own Divi Diners club and see if we can throw some light on the subject.

Ilove mushrooms, but cannot find any info about them.

How do we achieve our five a day if we can't eat fruit? Is it O.K. to take the

skins off?

Can we have chips or roasties,or fish with batter on?

Spices, do any of you use spices. and what do you put on spaghetti?

Can we blitz veggies, as stews and casseroles are forbidden?

Pastry is allowed, but no mentoin of which type.

So. can we help each other ,then at least when ,or if we ,dine out, we can

order something from the menu.

I cannot eat boiled potatoes ,eggs (is it O.K to have a fried one?)

jelly and rice pudding for ever. .

So please join in and share your doe's and dont's. mushrooms eaters

would be good to hear from.

    Hi Jacquie and all

I am off the wine now thankfully and just have an occasional glass for social purposes and the odd pint of cider. I feel that if my spirits are high I am much better in myself.

I can't even eat red grapes now without tasting something mouldy for days!

I have an under active thyroid which was overdosed for two years by a doctor until recently when my current doc halved the meds. I believe this contributed to the gallstone and DD I have. It is caused Saints Triad, I see John referred to DD as 'priest'?

I take aloe era, bit c for the gallstone, peppermint oil to calm things and a whole host of bits especially those donating Lutein as I have a spot on my eye in the macular region, my father had Macular Degeneration giving me 50% chance of getting it. Isn't being 60 wonderful?????

I am regular each morning thankfully but all colours of the rainbow, and am quite healthy really. I do a lot of physical work so keep quite fit although I find I can't do as much as I'd like. Two allotments and gardening keep me going.

I am always aware of the DD as my left hand side is always sore. But other than that I am ok. I use to trump an awful lot but when I cut out bread, (I LOVE BREAD!) I don't do it as much.

Thank you for asking after me.

Hello DG. isn't it nice to ba able to knock on each other doors, it is doing wonders for misery removal   Strangely enuogh I have never had

problems with disposal, so it does raise the question of how the pouches developed I used to have a nursery, growing  herbs alpines and special perrenials.and sell them at car boots. AHHH, happy days Exercise is also not a problem I go horse riding ,sadly not my own but I have just found a yard with off road riding through the forest. so my internals have no excuse to fester

Had to smile My house in Southern Ireland was called Rainbows End.

Hi DG.  Good to hear you are feeling much better   You do have quite a bit to cope with - as if Dicerticular disease wasn't enough !

As a matter  of interest, am I the John who referred to DD as 'priest'.  If so, I certainly can't remember it.  In what connection?

Well, Jac.  We have more in common than  judt DD.  I also horse ride.  I used to own a New Forest.  Super grey.  Reared and sold by a chap called Bob Andrews which I bought as a 2yearling . Called him Artillery Boy (derived from his breeders branding - AB). Broke him and eventually sold him as a 16h hunter.  I am having a great time. My DD is well under control and I am delighted becuase we are off to the Fjords for 3 weeks on Friday. Ate (and drank) out last evening.  Italian restaurant - no repurcussions.  Quail in the freezer?  How the.... live. Jon

Well Jon  D.D and memory loss.  I will jog your memory ,you were trying out tit for tat repartee with me, now do you remember?

Jacqui, Hi. Ain't life geat outside of DD. Great to kow thaat we can stilll ride.

I don't really understand your comment - memory loss/tit for tat etc., can you enlighten me?  Car boot sales.  Not anti - just feel embarrassed at doing our first one last Sunday. Guess I wasn't born to sell.  Do you know what DG means by 'priest' - certainly not a comment made by me = an agnostic..  I've just scrolled back.  It was you/me during our use of metaphores.  I said that... rid me of this troublesome (priest) disease.  Has DG heard of Thomas Beckett' when the king said " will somebody rid me of this troublesome priest"?  University education not necessary. Yes Jon, You threw me about "the Priest", didn't dream that you had gone lateral  Hope you have explained yourself to D.G

Car boots are really good if you pick the right ones,. lots of nice people I know a woman quite well now who stands at one, her husband used to be a racehorse trainer... There are also ,sometimes some very strange objects on offer, usually with an explanation of what it is

Thought you wer off on your holiers?  Jacqui

Saturday, Jac.  i think, correctly, it should have been .. rid me of this turbulent priest (not troublesome) However, our gut is both troublesome and turbulent. I did buy a kosla piece of glass once for 50p.  Valued (cuurently) in Miller's at £200.00!  You have gone lyrical in your latest post. Why don't you write, it might help relax the condition? (and bring an income). Jon

I have had poems published but never paid . I usually write in the Pam Eyres, style, but this bit just popped into my head probably because of the trauma over the last few weeks and feeling a bit at risk, and no one to talk to  The receptionist at the Health centre pointed me towards the forum when I phoned to ask if there was a dietician attatched to the practise.. So, there we are, saved by the forum

Funnily enough a friend of mine has just mailed, to go and walk on the beach with her woofers. Bliss !!!

Anyone know if anchovies in oil are on the no list?, And do crisps cause any probs, and do you cut the crunchy edges off toast, before or after you have

picked all the bits out of the marmalade ?

  • Posted

OK - missed your last one about the Eccles cakes, but I eat all of these things.  Multigrain crispbreads, nuts, fruit, seeds, the lot.  I am now starting to wonder if I actually have DD, excpet when it flares!  I eat stews, onions (love them) red meat and steak ... (medium rare if that makes any difference).  Marmalade - is no fun at all without all the chunks in it.  So my husband has the jelly and I have all my lumps and his.  Where am I going wrong?  The only thing I found originally was to go to the zero residue diet (boring) and reintroduce bits and pieces veeeerrrryyy slowly and only after your tubes have had a while - at least a week - to recover.  If you can put up with the low residue for a fortnight, all the better.  Lots of water and then some easily digested white rice; progress from there as you feel able.  Sorry I have no idea about the sardines/anchovies thing, but I do eat tuna in both oil or brine.  Off now to enjoy sunny Norfolk!

Hi Juliet, I realise that I am being a wuss over this super restrictive diet,

I will probably feel better about the whole thing once the inspection has been done. You seem to enjoy??? the same foods as me except for the red meat dept. Been on the diet and no food for 16 days so I will dip toe in tomorrow. Hope you had a nice day
