DIVI DINERS

Posted , 82 users are following.

Returning from a hospital session of Drips and Deprevation (food) I was handed a Low Residue diet to follow. Scant in products, and information what to do with said products, I searced the web for more information,

onlt to find contradictory eat's and don't eats, so I thought that WE the

sufferers of food deprevation should start our own Divi Diners club and see if we can throw some light on the subject.

Ilove mushrooms, but cannot find any info about them.

How do we achieve our five a day if we can't eat fruit? Is it O.K. to take the

skins off?

Can we have chips or roasties,or fish with batter on?

Spices, do any of you use spices. and what do you put on spaghetti?

Can we blitz veggies, as stews and casseroles are forbidden?

Pastry is allowed, but no mentoin of which type.

So. can we help each other ,then at least when ,or if we ,dine out, we can

order something from the menu.

I cannot eat boiled potatoes ,eggs (is it O.K to have a fried one?)

jelly and rice pudding for ever. .

So please join in and share your doe's and dont's. mushrooms eaters

would be good to hear from.

hi D.G Im starting to be a a tad more adventurous  with what goes in.

I said to one daoctor that my internals  were like a butchers refrigerator

with the plug pulled out, and all my organs were starting to rot.  How can you not be bothered, or have you gone over the pain barrier?

Apologies, I have just seen this, I never get flare ups, TOUCH WOOD! What I do get are twinges in the lower left side and sometimes under my left ribs. My GB doesn't really bother me that much either only when I eat too much fat and then I get really bad joint pain in my arms.

I was thinking about you last night, as you had gone quiet. Do find yourself no longer able to go to the fridge or pantry for a quick snack on the hoof, without looking at everything with suspicion ,wondering if there

will be painful regrets afterwards You get the same symptoms as myself, except for the ""fatty elbows"" where on earth does that come from?? My first flare up, and hopefully the last is something never to

be forgotten .Iv'e racked my brains trying to remember what I ate that

filled the pouches and caused  them to fester. We don't appear to have an official body of people like every other ailment under the sun ,who

we can ask questions to help with any probs. My G.P just tells me

to drink plenty of water It DON'T  WORK. Don't suppose there is

any research going on in our specific area either I can see our notes in the pending tray At least we hvae a bunch of us with been there. done that, to help each other  .biggrin

The trouble with my last (and worst) flare was that I am guessing it took a few days for the culprit to get stuck, for it to fester and then to cause a problem.  By which time, I would have completely forgotten what I had eaten!

I really hope you managed to eat something a bit more exciting.  Slowly does it!  Don't jump straight into the vindaloo.  rolleyes  Now that I have a few flares, I know the signs and go back onto the low residue immediately.  Fortunately my doctor knows me and if I call for antibiotics (i try not to) the prescription is done very quickly.

A thought crossed my mind which made me smile - in a previous life the word flare was a call for help.  Rather appropriate I thought. Hope you have had some iof the sunshine and not the thundery rain.

Hi juliet no thunder , stomach or weather wise.   I make a mean curry ,not the ones that remove the lining from your mouth ,but tasty, I think I will make a tame- ish one to start ,with not too many spices The semi stew went down well, it was nice to hold a knife and fork for change

Serious question now J If you feel as though the food is not leaving

as fast as it should, is it prudent to take a mild laxative to move things along? the memory of that awful pain is still strong in my memory bank.

Ooh.  Serious.  I rarely have that problem, but if and when, then I drink fresh fruit juice (or tomato juice if that's your preference).  I would avoid laxatives, but if you are uncomfortable, go for one that is slow and gentle, overnight.  As with all these discussions, try a small amount first.  If it helps and does not cause upset, then you can keep it in mind for next time.  Don't go out, buy a litre of juice and imbibe the lot!  Guaranteed pain.   [sad]   Hope that helps.

Hi J, as a recent sufferer, I find keeping the gut clear gives me a better

Chance of a normal life. My doctor prescribed a bowel prep laxative to. Be taken at night. Seems to be ok and quite gentle.

I tend to veer from a constipated few days to full blown attack, so find it

useful to have a bit of control.

      Hope this helps, Eve

Morning Jac.... Good food for a guaranteed clear out is a pot noodle, well it worked for me. Didn't want this option. But I was hungry at work so popped out and got one. Seriously now.... I will add a note to myself, stay clear of pot noodles.

How has your week been? Good or bad?

Not good, started on my second flair ,minor on Tuesday thought it would go away, new to this ,,so wasn't quite sure to expect Thursday, no better

surgeryvhalf day ,went through the 111 route finally ended uo with an appt

at the out of hours clinic 9-30 pm another taxi ride Had to go because

the doctor faxed me a pair of antibiotics to my pharmacy Bearing in mind that I told him I was allergic to penicillin  be alright he said it

wasn't.  The doctor at clinic pressed the divi area and said it was a bit

tender, and would not be kept in He stopped the penicillin thank goodness I had only taken one. So. it;s good old Paracetamol and an

antibiotic that I have taken before I have a VERY swollen tum Mebeverine usually sorts that out. Supposed to be going on holiday

on Moday The exact same thing happened last time NO holiday

So, all in all a pretty naff week sad
