DIVI DINERS

Posted , 82 users are following.

Returning from a hospital session of Drips and Deprevation (food) I was handed a Low Residue diet to follow. Scant in products, and information what to do with said products, I searced the web for more information,

onlt to find contradictory eat's and don't eats, so I thought that WE the

sufferers of food deprevation should start our own Divi Diners club and see if we can throw some light on the subject.

Ilove mushrooms, but cannot find any info about them.

How do we achieve our five a day if we can't eat fruit? Is it O.K. to take the

skins off?

Can we have chips or roasties,or fish with batter on?

Spices, do any of you use spices. and what do you put on spaghetti?

Can we blitz veggies, as stews and casseroles are forbidden?

Pastry is allowed, but no mentoin of which type.

So. can we help each other ,then at least when ,or if we ,dine out, we can

order something from the menu.

I cannot eat boiled potatoes ,eggs (is it O.K to have a fried one?)

jelly and rice pudding for ever. .

So please join in and share your doe's and dont's. mushrooms eaters

would be good to hear from.

Hello anybody ,somebody can you tell me what is the reasoning behind NOT eating sprouts ,brocolli, green beans , cabbage Are they all Pouch fillers,or acidic

I have gone from lots of greens to NO greens and I am not a happy bunny

    HELP  Jacqueline

Hi Jac.    Somewhere along the line you asked me about eating brassicas. I don't eat sprouts or calabrase (out of all the brassicas) because I find they give me pain in the gut and the farting is almost non-stop and foul smelling.

I suppose longer coooking rather al dente is marginally better but I just avoid them altogether.  Jon

I know !!!!!! Iv'e asked LOTS of questions along the line Yuo can't blame

a girl for asking again, and NO my memory is fine /just didn't want THAT pain back TR.

Are you taking us with you on your holiday so we can keep tabs on what you are eating You should be O.K. if you face into the wind

EVERBODY (even non-DD sufferers) know s that sprouts make you fart. (Why do we use euphamisms - DG refers to farting as 'trumping! ha! ha!). Between 'bouts' I am generally pain free as you know, but I do follow my (quite extensive diet) set by my dietician closely.  However farting (unless I've eaten something disagreeable) is usually virgin wind of the non odorous variety.  No, I operate a desk machine but my wife (who has  a laptop) won't be taking it.    We need to relax so soon after the Caribbean.  I shall be out of touch after Saturday for 18 days and then back again until Nov. when we are taking a 'cultural' tour of Troy/Ephesus and Greece.( love the Greeks) Meanwhile I have had to suspend my German and Italian teaching lessons for the summer. I am a tea drinker (no effects) but don't drink coffee (only because I never have and don't particularly like it - my Italian friends can't understand it).  I do drink green tea with a slice of lemon. That has no effect either (neither does it in gin!)  Jon

have to tell you Jon, you amuse me no end,I think my wrinkles are on retreat from smiling at your submits, better than any medication' I would have thought that "Virgin "  of anything was appliable to you.

Come on Jon surprise me, and make me smile

You too!  Laughing is a great tonic and does a power of good - wrinkles included.  However, it can also make you fart.  It's a super word - so descriptive of people in particular.

Will tell you more later in the day.  Have to go shopping.

All of the above are well known for creating gas.  Perhaps that is the thinking behind it.  However, I do eat brassicas, salad greens and spring onions.  No real problems providing they do not hang around!

thank you Juliet AGAIN. Dying for some sprouts and green beans O.K

on the farting front , ma is almost deaf

Try peppermint either tea or cordial made with warm water good for wind don't like the tea but find warm cordial ok dose help but i also have buscopan off gp x

I am not as yet a member of the farting group, but Jon seemingly is team leader on that one

I think I will pass on the peppermint tea

I had a thought last light - it happens but rarely, so make the most of it!  Regarding the gas problem.  What if the gas itself is the problem, in the sense that it might inflate the pouches, thereby allowing particles to enter, stay and decay?  I may be completely off target, but it sounds reasonable to me.  So if someone has a meal that includes any of the gaseous culprits, but also includes, say, tomato pips, might the combination cause a flare?  I am kind of thinking as I go along, but maybe this could be possible.

I like your lateral thinking but I would stick to the known cause that foodstuffs in the digestive system cause wind - and it needn't have lodged in the diverticuli.  Remember, people who do not suffer from Diverticular disease also suffer from wind or 'bloating' (as woman's magazines refer to it).
