Dizziness caused by acid reflux

I was pleased to find this site as 4 months ago I was gong to the gym most days of the week. I am 61 years old but consider myself to be relatively fit. In may of this year I developed a spit and continually wanted to clear my throat .

I have had an MRI scan, Cat scan andchest/lung Xrays, all of which were clear. I have experienced lots of the symtoms contributore to the site talk about. Back pain, shoulder pain, breathlessness, hoarsness ,buzzing in my head tiredness and most scary of all lightheadedness which makes me feel as if I'm going to faint. I have seen two ENT consultants the latter of whom said that a virus was causing too much acid being produced in my stomach and has prescribed two 20mg doses of Opemrazole daily. I have taken great comfort form the discussions on this site but I am particularly interested if anyone has experienced the lightheadedness/ dizziness and ringing in the head.

I ha e been going through the same thing myself. I get real light headed especially when I try to walk, and if I talk at the same time or if I’m talking a lot I get real dizziness. I lost my job because of it cause I couldn’t do a lot and kept feeling lightheaded every single time. I was diagnosed with gastritis but think I also have GERD because I spit up blood everytime I’m leaning sideways or on my side. I get head pains or migraines if you wanna say. Also get pains in my eyes like there something in there like some sand or something. There’s times where it’s ok but it comes right back. Everyday. Been having it for the last past 2 weeks or maybe more. Also I feel real weak and tired even when I do t do anything. Feels like it’s hard to breathe at times. Get pains in my chest on both sides and also in my arms. Especially my left arm feels weak at times. I get some ear aches and also feels ringing in my ear. The blood comes almost everyday. I sleep and wake up with blood in my mouth. I’m just tired and depressed because of it. I was tsking Omeprazole but I stopped just yesterday taking it cause I feel like it makes me feel worst when I do take it so just been trying to deal with it the healthy and natural way. I’ve been doing good for the most but my only concern is the head pains and dizziness. Really really really don’t like it at all. If you have had any luck with it or have had it and it’s gone please let me know what you have done to cope with it or get through it. Thank you and pray you all a good recovery

Hi Anthony. I have your exact same symptoms. My holistic chiropractor found out that I have histamine intolerance which causes excessive acid production. I am now on a low histamine diet and will be taking some homeopathic remedies soon. I urge you to research histamine intolerance.

For the last 3 month I've felt so ill, I'd gone from a very active person to some days never leaving the house. I was going to the doctors twice a month. My first symptoms was when i had taken the dog for a walk and out of the blue i couldn't breath I was light headed I thought I was going to die. I finally got home and had to phone my husband to come home from work he took me to the hospital where they told me I was having a panic attack this lasted for 2 weeks the doctors said the same kept telling them no it's something else I felt I had a tight band round my neck. After months of going back to doctors I was told I had acid stomach and given anti acid tablets but these didn't seem to work. I researched and found that most people have low acid and the treatment I was been described made my symptoms worse. So I started treating my symptoms for low acid and started drinking Apple cider vinegar in water I would have mustard all things acidic and best of all betaine HCI with Pepsin this as changed my life back to normal. Hope this helps

I have had all of the same symptoms the worst one for me was the breathlessness and not being able to take a deep breath.   Also the dizziness upon standing  like you were going to fall over if you don’t hang onto something. Walking and exercise was out of the picture until I started taking Fish oil with an EPA of around 1000 mg,  The EPA had to be at least that high for it to work.  All of the symptoms did not go away however the dizziness, and breathlessness went away. Has anyone else experienced?  I can come up with is the fish oil brings down the inflammation, Please let me know if you have any input on this. Thank you even care

Are you sure it was too much acid?? And not too little...if youre on PPI such as nexium a lot of the symptoms could be from that. You most likely need to fix your gut by eating right and stopping all inflammatory foods. Also, melatonin has been showed to help strengthening the LES sphincter muscle so you could also try that to maybe relive of your gerd pain

Hi you can test your level of acidity with Ph balance strips.  You either pee on them or put in your mouth to catch saliva.  They come with a chart of colours and tell you your ph balance (acid).  I use them.

Hallo! I had the same condition few months ago with lightheadedness, dizziness,i had the feeling that i was going to faint,i felt some kind of spasm in my stomach and gas from my stomach was hitting my nose and i felt like my nose was burning!!!I was diagnosed with GERD and for 3 months i took omeprazole but nothing!!!After seeing a dozen of doctors of every specialization, finally i was diagnosed with a type of MIGRAINE!!!!!

You must see an ORL doctor SPECIALISED in migraines.I dont take any more omeprazole,i am having therapy for my migraine (ten days now),when the dizziness and the ringing in my head is more intense, the doctor said that i could take DEPON MAXIMUM,which contains also caffeine (caffeine helps a lot in migraines) and after half an hour,i feel great!!!The therapy for the migraine is for 6 weeks or more, depends on the case. This type of migraine does not include headache!!!I was despered and now because i feel much much better i found myself again.I wish you all the best!!!

What has helped me the most is a spoon of manuka honey (costco) each morning, followed by mastic gum and dgl licorice (from amazon) half hour before each meal and digestive enzymes ( from amazon, NOW brand) right before meal. Then at night i take a milk thistle, melatonin and 5-htp and another dose of mastic gum and dgl licorice. The last two are actual hormones that should help with digestive function. The moment i stopped nexium i took up the mastic gum and dgl licorice and my burningwent away. Last week i had an endoscopy andcolonoscopy and everything came out ok other than some gastritis and esophagitis. I still have some mild face flushing but the lightheadedness is no longer there. However i also did notice that whenever i would consume kefir or kombucha with probiotics i would feel weird the rest of the day. The throat closing and tightening have since subsided and my appetite came back. Ive also lost close to about 20lbs in a month mostly doing protein shakes as i could not eat anything else.
