Hi there

I have always had a bit of a dodgy stomach but for the past year or so i have been diagnosed superficially with oes reflux

I get worried that there missing something

i get pulsing in my stomach which radiates up my chest to my head so my whole body pulses, i get dizzy and my legs sometimes fell weak and that i'm walking like the man in the mr soft advert!!

the worse is the breathing, its like i can't get air in my lungs, like something is pushing up from my diaphram and pushing the air out and then like someone has there hands on my neck, i have to lie down and breath no matter what i'm doing as i feel i might pass out, i also get very itchy like i'm uncomfatable in my own skin!

CAN IT REALLY BE THIS BAD. cause if it is i can live with it, but i'm so scared its something else and i'll be found dead from a heart attack or something (i'm 35 years by the way)who will look after me dogs then LOL

any response appreciated, just want to know that i'm not alone!!

cheers

I get many of your symptoms also and the thing that triggers me to think its not \"just\" GERD is the weak legs feeling that you described - so reading this is somewhat reassuring.

I used to get panic attacks also but once I accepted my condition it was possible to seperate the feeling of not being able to breath with the reality that I could. Sometimes the feeling of palpitations or even heart-attack I have learned that it is not actually a heart problem but a spasm in the oesophagus - so not to worry to the point of having an anxiety attack.

I was first diagnosed with anxiety and later with GERD. I believe the anxiety is/was triggered by the worrying symptoms caused by the reflux and I hope for you that you can also learn not to panic when your symptoms arise. Remember it is digestive system not respitory system!

You don't think the acid can go into your lungs?

Hi. A doctor friend told me the reason I can’t breath with gerd is that my esophagus is inflamed so it’s swolllem and that will squeeze on its neighbor respiratory track so it get smaller space to breath. After I heard this I got so much relive instead of worrying I would die from breathlessness. Hope this help and I hate the fact that many doctors think I’m crazy to ask them why I can’t breath and why I have jumping stomach. Seriously they should know.

Hi I have a similar problem, it started as burning in my throat and I took omeprozole and that is helping with the throat pain.  However I was left with always being overwhelmingly tired, shakey and dizzy all of the time.  What seems to really help is going for a short run every night about 15 minutes, just enough to get the heart rate up.  Also sitting somewhere during the day with plenty of ventilation and eating sugar or chewing gum really helps!

As far a diet there are the constants. to stay away from..like coffee, alcohol and chocolate, and of course spicy and high acidic foods.  there could also be certain things that you are 'reactive" to that might not cause a problem for others.  It is a process of elimination.  I did a gluten, dairy, soy, sugar  and legume free diet and no processed foods for about 6 weeks and just now am starting to add things back in....for me, i can't do decaf coffee or pasta, mushrooms, peppers and pork.  These all cause me bloating, burping and heartburn.  I know i cannot do stright up milk, but seem OK with aged cheeses.   For you it may be different.  I did this as well as continue my zantac and have been able to cut the dosage in half.  I still can't go with out it but the symptoms have greatly subsided.

Hi Hiloree, It could be the medicine that is causing you to feel weak and shaky make sure to check with your Dr. They are known for sometimes lowering the heart rate, go online and read the side effects they are very powerful meds and need to be monitored by a Dr. Good Luck

Hi I am 37 and was diagnosed with GORD last year so far suffering for 6 months or so, I originally had bad panic attacks when I slept until the girlie told me to go get them checked out, I was originally thinking heart attack so on so forth, so I went had all the tests possible and they found nothing in regards to my heart, which they said was perfect.

As i continued to suffer with chest pains I went to my doctor who said what would you like me to do, I decided to see a specialist who after a barium and xray confirmed that i was suffering from GORD and that it was time to change my lifestyle, I am still suffering and if anything it's worse as i now suffer slightly from mono phobia as in the back of my mind i still think it's something more.

as for the other posters symptoms i have also had those the feeling of not breathing weak legs so on so forth, I have decided that it's time to change my diet and way of life and health, otherwise I can defeat this disease.

it's great to know that others have the same symptoms and hopefully we can all help each other going forward smile

Hi, Ciar2001 I am so sorry you are so worried and it is understandable as the symptoms are very scary and Drs always seem to think you are blowing them out of proportion. That is a good outlook you now have and well done for getting to this point as lifestyle changes are the best way to go and you will soon feel the difference but it is not easy as we live in a stressful world and our lives also revolve around eating out and socialising which is a nightmare but I found telling everyone I knew my helps especially when eating out and most restaurants are really good at helping you make good food choices and very experienced at dealing with us! I usually let them know I have Gerd or even just say a stomach ulcer and would like help with sauces etc and people are so kind. Stay strong and lets hope we all live to see some new cure for what has become a very common and widespread problem.

Hi just to let you know you're not alone. I'm 36 and suffered complications after my second child was born 3 years ago. My weird symptoms started then all of a sudden. Docs first said it was asthma but I didnt have a wheeze and my peak flow was fine. All I had was a hoarse dry cough and a horrible taste in my mouth and felt like I couldn't swallow properly. I get a strange feeling in my stomach which feels raw and pain in my back. I feel like my whole body is pulsating my legs go weak feel like i'm going to pass out. When I try to breath it feels like my lungs are shutting theres pain under my left breast going through to my shoulder and down the top part of my left arm. My pulse races, I have been in and out of a&e as I keep getting taccacardia (scuse the spelling) with it although cardiac xray show all fine. My blood pressure shoots up I feel like I constantly need to wee all the time and I get diorreah(oops spelling again). Afterwards for several days I am left feeling completely weak and exhausted I also get quite a lot of poor cognitive issues where I forget what I'm talking about or can't get my words out properly. Docs thought at one point I had ms. I have however recently been diagnosed with fibromyalgia docs say this explains a lot of the weirdness but I never heard of silent reflux before. I was so scared when it first happened to me 3 years ago I actually thought i was dying. I'm so glad I came accross this blog as now I can go to gp and explain this to her it might help sort out the rest of the horrible weird symptoms.

Hi I have almost the same problem and have been seeing many different doctors for the last three years. I'm so tired and frustrated 😢

Been in and out of the hospital with no answers. It all started with pressure in my chest and then my heart started skipping, stomach problem, heart burn, pain under my left breast,my back,my left arm, pressure and pain in chest feeling like I can't breath, blood pressure rises, going to the bathroom a lot, can't think or talk properly, dizzy ,weak and so tired afterwards. It also got worse after I gave birth to my second child. They also tested me for ms but nothing. Then they were thinking fibromyalgia that went no where. As of now I'm being followed by a cardiologist who seems to think nothing is wrong. Now I'm going to be seeing a resporologist. Sometimes I think I'm going nuts.

By any chance did you find out what the problem is ?

I feel exactly the same as you do. I'm currently takingredients protonix, Zantac and carafate. I can't seem to get my symptoms under control. I have been to the ER more t I messed than I can say. EKG blood work you name it. I'm told that my heart is OK, yet I get this crushing chest pain, shortness if breath, spiking blood pressure, heart rate increase, headache, pain in my left arm and ahoulder. Every single symptom of a heart attack yet the doctors say my heart is fine. I'm exhausted, I just want to feel better. In only 42 years old and I feel like I'm 62. I always feel better after I get back from the hospital but then a couple of days later, I'm back at it again. I really am at my wits end and don't know what to do about it.

I felt the same Pam. I'm just 32 and I'm feeling like older than my mother. I already stopped taking those PPI. I started taking organic medicines and I think I'm getting better and better. Think positive always. How about your throat? Because me I felt like something stuck in my throat .
