Hi there

I have always had a bit of a dodgy stomach but for the past year or so i have been diagnosed superficially with oes reflux

I get worried that there missing something

i get pulsing in my stomach which radiates up my chest to my head so my whole body pulses, i get dizzy and my legs sometimes fell weak and that i'm walking like the man in the mr soft advert!!

the worse is the breathing, its like i can't get air in my lungs, like something is pushing up from my diaphram and pushing the air out and then like someone has there hands on my neck, i have to lie down and breath no matter what i'm doing as i feel i might pass out, i also get very itchy like i'm uncomfatable in my own skin!

CAN IT REALLY BE THIS BAD. cause if it is i can live with it, but i'm so scared its something else and i'll be found dead from a heart attack or something (i'm 35 years by the way)who will look after me dogs then LOL

any response appreciated, just want to know that i'm not alone!!

cheers

Hey Irene, I had a similar problem with my throat for a long time, but its getting better now.  Have you tried eating only soft foods for awhile and seeing if the pain goes away?  Also just curious if you drink out of plastic bottled water containers?

I've been having similar problems. Started with a big spasm in my stomach after drinking too much one night which was about 6 months ago, since then I've been getting weird tastes in my mouth like metal or acid or blood. Can't distinguish the taste though. Getting a pain in my abdominon when working out and acid reflux thought it was due to the whey protein I was taking so stopped taking that. Now I have a dull feeling in my stomach, it's not painful but it's discomforting, it's probably not painful as the doctor gave me Lansoprazole and paracetamol to ease the pain. But now For the last 4-5 weeks I've been getting dizzy when I walk or if I eat a big meal (sometimes as soon as I start eating the meal I'll feel weak and dizzy) I'm very fatigued and I seem to be out of my own head, like I can't concentrate and I manage to go walk the dog in the day and maybe go to the shops but besides that I'm absolutely trashed and knackered. Struggling with my diet only able to eat soups and yoghurts fruits and vegetables (stuff that's light on my stomach) every time I try to eat bolognese or something greasy my body just flat out rejects it. had 2 episodes where my stomach spasmed in the night I instantly thought it was a heart attack, doctors dismissed it when my bloods and urine came back normal, just keep getting told to take pain killers to ease the pain but not making much progress. Sometimes when my stomach is in pain my left arm goes very weak (which brings on panic) but I seem to have my anxiety under control at the moment. Going to see the GP later and see what he thinks.

Hi Rawbs Have you being tested for a stomach Ulcer? Your symptoms sure sound like one also taking a lot of pain killers will actually make your stomach acid worse, My Dr warned me to go easy on them and avoid anti inflammatory ones and aspirin and codeine based ones so I can only take Panadol now and again when things get bad. But if I get stomach pain I don't take them only my acid reflux meds and if they do not work I have to go to him to be checked.

It actually kind of sounds like you might have LYME DISEASE. I was diagnosed a few years ago and it started with dizzyness, fatigue and heart palpitations. I also now have bad acid reflux. If your doctor hasn't mentioned it, it is really hard to diagnose and there are a lot of politics around treating it. Doctors don't even want to test you for it. It is sad though because a lot of people who are sick get misdiagnosed and don't found out until later. I would look into it further.

Hello I'm new to the site but can I just say about 18months ago I was diagnosed with GAD and was put on medication for it, what I wasn't told what was to follow. It started with occasional heartburn and feeling like I couldn't get enough air I passed it of as Anxiety but when I look back it got worse and worse, I was ok until I ate something remotely Spivey then symptoms would start, palpitations feeling as If I wasn't Bering enough air bad acid horrible taste in mouth, went to see the docs and was told I had Gerd and this is very common with Anxiety sufferers so I had to change my life, try to eliminate trigger points plenty of exercise and my last meal I blend to a shake as it can be quicker digested. Your not alone as I have found out, the symptoms are very scary and make anxiety even worse. All I can advise is eliminating trigger points is a great start. Tc

Acid can ruin your lifestyle, outlook in life, bring up anxiety and unwarranted fears.

BUT BE BRAVE DEAL WITH TH PROBLEM AND DONT LET YOUR PROBLEMS CONTROL YOU RATHER YOU CONTROL YOUR PROBLEMS.

Hi everyone. Can someone please help me with this issue in having. 2 years ago I kept on having palpitations when laying down or trying to sleep, I had sleeping issues as the palpitations clauses adrenaline. I saw many doctors. Neurologist, cardiologist, gastrologist to name a few. Did the whole bravo PH thing in my stomach, including the wire down my throat for 3 days. I've had cameras down my stomach, ECG etc. I've had it all. I'm 36 and around 3 stone over weight. I have gone on a life change diet an lost lots of weight. This palpitation issue, has lead to other serious matters, it's caused me to have anxiety issues due to not being able to sleep, overthink mind etc. I have again seen some more doctors. I have been prescribed beta blockers which I've just started to use. Since my life change over the last 3 months, I have days where I feel great an than suddenly I get woken up by palpitations which won't go away until atkeast a few says subject to me getting sleep. I do have a constant taste of a up on my mouth. Can anyone advise if they have the same issues as me and what I can do? I am happy to live with acid reflux an sh*tty taste in my mouth but having palpitations at random times is very scary an makes me very anxious. I want to know why this is happening. I have also stopped smoking. I have also taken various tablets for acid reflux which didn't work. The gastrologist confirmed there was no acid on the bravo Ph study it I think he didn't do it properly an rushed it. Anyway. Look forward to anyone's response. Thanks

Hey Simon, I had a similar problem and did all the same tests, it was anxiety. It took a couple of months to fix but this is what I did.  I went to pilates classes twice a week, it really calms the nerves. I also took gotu kola and magnesium before bed (no alcohol), they are natural alternatives to relaxation and a deep sleep.  Try also a bath before bed with magnesium flakes in it. Also, I know this sounds weird but if its really bad, go for a 10 minute run but getting the blood flowing is the best remedy.  I completely understand what you are going through, mine lasted for a year before I really figured out what it really was.  Also get your vitamin levels tested, anxiety sucks the nutrients out of your body which can cause some of the symtoms.

      Hello Simon,

I too went through the whole palpatation scare and its come back at me full force.  Right now I get lightheaded when lying down to sleep and get the whole weak legs thing and weird feeling and it is hard to differentiate between this as being reflux related or a panic attack.  My palpatations were very bad at one point but have improved  since I started taking thyroid medication for hashimotos thyroiditis.  My levels were always "normal", although when an astute doctor felt a nodule and discovered my thyroid antibodies were off the charts, i received a diagnosis of Hashimotos thyroiditis and was put on levothyroxine.  Since then my palpatations have decreased tremendously(they diagnosed me with "benign PVC"s (premature ventricular contractions).  Have you ever had your thyroid checked by ultrasound and had your antibodies checked??  That being said I am goingthrough a bad time right now with losing sleep due to the lightheadedness when I recline thta brings on a whole host of symptoms...weak legs, funny adrenaline rushed i n my head and stomach, burping like crazy, rumbling stomach....then it gets hard to distinguish what is reflux and what is anxiety....How are you doing now,? better I hope.  It is good to know that there is a support group like this out there.  I sometimes think Im losing it!!

Im so glad to have found this forum. Im new to all of this which makes it all scarier. Long story short i ended up in the ER a couple weeks ago with chest pains and rapid heartbeat - all tests come back normal. Two days later, similar feeling of a light clench in the chest and heat radiating in my neck, about 15-20 mins after eating a big bagel sandwich. Back to the ER all tests negative, they say it may be acid reflux/anxiety. I know i have anxiety, all of this happening has made the anxiety a million times worse. Had a panic attack last week after a big meal. Felt chest pain/tightness, general racing feeling, some trembling and needing to go to the bathroom. All of this makes the anxiety worse so im over thinking everything and analyzing every feeling i have. Been taking omeprazole each morning and i think its been helping but not sure. Then tonight after eating greek food (i think onions and garlic are responsible) followed by a small cup of ice cream i feel same feeling i felt two weeks ago before going to ER. Quick clench and heat radiating but gone in less than 5 seconds. Over an hour later and still some light chestpain. All of this is very scary as heart disease runs in my family but other than that im healthy. I did 4 miles on the treadmill today and kayaked 9 miles two days ago. Working out helps for sure. Im scheduled to see the GP and cardiologist within a week and hoping to get help in some way, shape or form. Any feedback from you guys would be very much appreciated. All of the info on here is super helpful and I'm grateful to all of you for sharing. I hope everyone is finding peace with this very annoying condition. Thank you!!

Hi! Yes i do feel the same as you do. I was also diagnosed with Gerd 2yrs ago. And i also suffered from anxiety and panic attack. I even went to psychiatrist to ask help about it. But then one my my friend told me that i must manage my anxiety by myself and not to depend on medicines. So i stopped. I tried to control my emotions and pray and sometimes do meditations. Palpitations gone but gerd symptoms is still present from time to time. I just suddenly feel sick and tired, i feel dizzy and most of the time my stomach feels bad. I sometimes feel unbalanced when i eat theres this pain in my stomach up to my chest. And im trying to burp to feel better. I sometimes feel worried and confused about this feeling and Its good to know that some of you also feels the same as i do and its not that serious illness but its just it makes you suffer like everyday. I hope we can overcome this condition. I hope theres a way to totally stop gerd symptoms.
