Hi there

I have always had a bit of a dodgy stomach but for the past year or so i have been diagnosed superficially with oes reflux

I get worried that there missing something

i get pulsing in my stomach which radiates up my chest to my head so my whole body pulses, i get dizzy and my legs sometimes fell weak and that i'm walking like the man in the mr soft advert!!

the worse is the breathing, its like i can't get air in my lungs, like something is pushing up from my diaphram and pushing the air out and then like someone has there hands on my neck, i have to lie down and breath no matter what i'm doing as i feel i might pass out, i also get very itchy like i'm uncomfatable in my own skin!

CAN IT REALLY BE THIS BAD. cause if it is i can live with it, but i'm so scared its something else and i'll be found dead from a heart attack or something (i'm 35 years by the way)who will look after me dogs then LOL

any response appreciated, just want to know that i'm not alone!!

cheers

I have most of these symptoms as well. I am 52 and have had reflux since my early 30's. Thanks to cancer I also have Neuropathy in my hands and feet. The pain in my chest that to me feels like fire I can cool drinking cold water most of the time. I do take Nexium for reflux since I literally cannot exhale without acid coming up. I also have Asthma and use an inhaler. Itching for me is caused by moisture on my skin. The dryer I keep my skin the less itching I have. There is a condition called Aquagenic pruritus but it is difficult for doctors to diagnose this condition since it is rare. There is no cure. Only treatments for symptoms. I wish you luck.

    Hey mate,

I've been living with heart burn since I was 18, and I was diagnose when I was 29 with GERD and since then I've been very ignorant about changing my eating habits, I love tomatoes, pasta, PIZZA was living life as ninja turtle and my favorite deserts are cheesecake and ice cream, I always balance my junk food with lots of veggies, fruits and supplements, I body build so I work out 5 days a week now I'm 35 and my GERD Is kicking my behind, so nomore cheesecake, pizza once a month no big chunks of tomatoes lots of greens, got rid of icecream and substitute it for frozen yogurt with fruit and granola, my new favorite food is spinach salads every once in awhile I will add kale, I only eat fish, veggies, non citrus fruit and whole grains breads, my GERD triggers are carbonated drinks, mint, too much coffee and now my favorite, red wine sad, but I feel great, my health is extraordinary but I have been experiencing anxiety attacks, chest pain and spontaneous pains in my throat, I've been to the ER 6 times this past month because I thought something was wrong with my heart, but my heart was fine, I had one adnormal ekg, and my blood pressure seems to be high only when the doctor checks it I guess it's because of stress and being so active just before my appointment, at home it's normal, lol, but for the last 3 months I felt like I couldn't breathe at night between 12-3am so I usually stay up Until 3am, I know it's just a panic attacks now, I was just hoping I wasn't dying yet, I have so much to get done before I go like get married and buy a house, build motorcycles in my own garage lol, I just accepted my GERD this morning and now I feel better and I'm going to see a specialist next month, by the way I did full blood test, I passed with flying colors, my chest cleared and I'm still going to the doctor for a stress test, sonogram for my heart, just to be sure, lol but hey if something was wrong with my heart they have robotic hearts now, so I can be a cyborg, I'm looking into biomechanical esophagus, I'm sure it's available, I rather purchase one of those instead of a new Porsche 911 gt3. Rs, not really but hey I can lease the Porsche, lol, I understand what you are going through, you just have to accept your disease and change your lifestyle, remember you can still have your favorite foods just in small portions and try to keep it to a minimum of 2-4 times a month, you have to figure out your triggers and stay away, stay fit and keep a non citrus Gatorade and inhaler for asthma by your bed, it helps me, raise the foot of your bed or stack up pillows and sleep sitting up until your food completely digest, only eat dinner 2-4 hours before bedtime. Hope you feel better mate!

I'm not sure but I can tell you ur not alone . I've had a weak stomach for yrs and abdominal pain as well .A Dr yrs ago said I had developed stomach ulcers and asafa colitis in my throat due to all the yrs of eating bc powders and other headache over the counter medicine due to the fact I get headaches almost daily and migraines as well and it sucks .so I do know that it's not good to consume all that stuff on a daily basis it has my stomach mest up .I get bad heartburn and my stomach is bothering me all the time I even throw up due to my stomach a lot. I can't seem to take any of the chronic/migraine meds due to side effects so I'm always bk to the bc or 800mg ibuprofen. I was recently put on a like 3 meds to sleep muscle relaxers and omg I stopped taking it after 5 days due to my pee turned dark I was groggy I was not feeling like myself and swelling in my legs ankles and feet .The past 2 days I've been swollen which has me praying that God is with me and this medication just needs time to get out of my system but this morning like b4 5 my chest and throat neck upper bk and stomach along with my left knee is hurting me. I feel like it's hard to breathe and taking in a deep breath hurts worse like sharp pain my chest and idk think my lungs feel heavy and I layed bk down after my husband left 4 work and it felt like my heart was beaten fast and it was uncomfortable in my chest. I don't know what to think. I just got up because I couldn't lay there anymore and it feels a bit easier to breath but I don't know what to do about it.

Hello to everybody that's on this subject acid reflux and GERD I have all of the symptoms weak legs heart racing chest pulsating arms week gas everything that you said I have and a lot of you are alright it's not just GERD acid reflux I want everybody to look up small intestinal bowel overgrowth call sibo you will find that it causes gerd acid reflux at all of the things that you are mentioned in your post doctors don't tell you that when you have it bad like we do then you have to kill that bacteria that's in your small intestines once you kill that then the GERD and acid reflux all will go away also annual esophagus somewhere on the side of your esophagus there's a vagus nerve that runs from your brain down through the stomach if the infection is near the vagus nerve that's what causes the panic attacks and heart racing and anxiety not to mention that you could have a hiatus hernia to go along with it from coughing and hacking I thought I would pass this information on Research small intestinal bowel overgrowth aka sibo hiatus hernia. And some of you all could have h.pylori

John, do you have issues with your sinuses? Post-nasal drip might be causing/aggravating your acid reflux.

    Hi,

Im 24 years old and i've been suffering from this symptoms. It is so bad that i think that i might die soon and kept on thinking about dying. But thanks to all of you because before this i dont really know whats happening to my body. I am pretty sure it has something to do with reflux, but at the same time i felt like i was going to have a heart attack. But after reading all of your experiences. I realize that i am not alone.

It started with hyperventilation 2 years back and i had few bad ones.. But now everthing starts from my tummy.. it feels so uncomfortable (no pain just uncomfortable) then my body starts to feel weak and i feel like im gonna collapse anytime soon and this happen at the most random time.

    Hi,

I am 54 yrs old and also having GERD problem for almost 6 yrs now. I got so interested with your article because whatever you mentioned described exactly what I am experiencing. I also get worried thinking that there is something wrong worse than just acid reflux.

I read a few articles trying to find out if acid reflux is directly causing the rapid heartbeat that can be described as palpitation and also the same feeling of almost fainting but none of the articles confirm a direct link to acid reflux.

I visited one physician to seek help for this problem and I was actually not so happy with his response because he didn't actually check me and just told me that I should lose weight or else I will die soon. Something that you wouldn't expect a doctor to his patient which I felt was very rude. I admit that I am a bit overweight he could have told me that more politely.

I tried to follow the advises like stop coffee and all of those stuff but it didn't work for me. I tried avoiding all those things but still I am having acid reflux attack. Another thing is that even if I just overreach something and my head facing up or twisting my body while working would trigger acid reflux.

For now I just have to live with while taking antacids and anti gas tablets. Hoping that there will still be a cure for this problem.

hi, i'm 39 years old and yes i do have all the symptoms you are describing here, but mine's take a little drift. only like a week or so ago, i experienced some chest tightness sensation when i was skipping without the skip rope, it's a kind of exercise that i've been on for months and i would do that every night for 20 minutes before i sleep, yeah, i've got on my phone a playlist of some good 80's disco song and would workout to it, and it feels very good with all those sweat coming out of you dripping down the floor that i can chug a liter of chilled water, straight after. then,  i would allow 2-3 hours before i crash the bed feeling very very good or should i say, "tired", well the good kind that is because i know i can sleep like a baby and would sleep uninterrupted and would wake up fresh and full of energy. unfortunately, i've never taken good care of what i ate with respect to my acid reflux problems, like coffee, pizza, oranges, you know the whole spectrum of acid exacerbators for i know i would just exercise the heck out of it and drink a lot of water which worked fine for me until like 2 weeks ago, and oh by the way, i've been having acid reflux for 15 years. it's an on and off thing for me. whenever i would have episodes, i'll just pop over the counter antacids like zantac for a day or two and then i was fine. but this time it's really different, though, GET THIS, i'm still holding on to the use of zantac, yes you can really say i'm a hypochondriac! because if and when i use it and the chest tightness sensation, me getting out of breath with little or no exertion like just climbing up a short slope, burning sensation in the chest, radiating from the epigastric region to the chest, both arms but more to the left, both clavicles, sometimes to the back as well, i'd definitely attribute that to heart issues which is the more evil of the two! i'm really scared to the prospect that i might be having heart issues, just like my dad who passed away at 69 of a heart attack and my older brother just been found to have blocked artery and is undergoing heart treatments as well. you know just typing in all these makes me a little uneasy already. i know even if you have taken care, physical activity wise, of your health, you cannot do something about the unmodifiable risk factors like age and family history, but i do not smoke but i have mild hypertension. the thing that is bothering me is that i've never had chest sensations before even though i am a long time acid reflux sufferer, my question is that can acid reflux or gerd be of an intensity level before it actually causes heart issues like symptoms, like shortness of breath or chest tightness sensation with little or no exertion at all? please, any kind of enligthenment would be highly appreciated. or just knowing i'm not alone with this is at least comfort enough.

    thanks,

    sherwin

Hi Sherwin With a big change in symptoms like that and a family history of heart problems I personally would go to my Dr it may be a bad acid reflux attack there again it could be angina which is easily sorted with meds. Good luck and don't worry you will be fine, but get a medical opinion
