Endometrial Cancer Diagnosis
Posted , 10 users are following.
Well, I had my uterine biopsy this week, and my Dr. called with the news, I have endometrial cancer, types 2 and 3. I've been referred to an oncologist, who's supposed to contact me after the weekend. My Dr. told me that because I caught this early (I started to spot on April 14) that we're on top of it, and that the cure rate for this is about 99%. But, I don't know what to think or feel. I'm pretty scared. If anyone has some words of wisdom it would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Hi, D,
Good to hear from you! I'm glad that your bleeding has stopped.
It's one week from the day that I had a TAH. Fortunately for me, someone cancelled her operation and they needed to fill a spot, and thought of me. Got the diagnosis on Friday, saw the surgeon the next Thursday, op done last Monday. New surgeries were being booked in the end of August (I'm in the US).
Have my first follow up with the surgeon on Thursday. I pray that you won't be going through anything except discovering how things can be fixed, and without surgery.
How's your ear?
Let me know how your scan goes, okay? xx

howdy, as they say in the western US!
I think that it may be that your body is trying to correct itself. Bodies can usually heal themselves, even sometimes, with early cancers. I've read recently, that now with the ability to diagnose the most early and minute cancers that doctors tend to make patients endure extreme and unnecessary efforts at "cures" when there is a possibility that the cancer could resolve on its own.
Please take heart, your scan is coming up soon and that will give you and your doctors more information as to what should be done next.
Please know that you're in my thoughts and prayers, xx

Hi, D,
Just saw your post--good to hear from you! In the US anything more than 4 MM they routinely perform a biopsy--my lining was at 8. That's how they found mine.
Please keep pressing on till you find out what's going on! xx

Hi Lynda
I am a cancer patient and have a G.I.S.T. and can fully understand your anxieties with your diagnosis, however most cancers like yours when diagnosed early enough are very treatable. Once you hear the 'C' word it is always distressing but take comfort in the knowledge that your doctor was on the ball and did catch it early you have a 99% chance of a full recovery and I like them odds very much. Go to the mirror and give yourself a thumbs up and a hug, looks like you have a long future ahead of you.
Kind Regards
Michael

Thank you! I'm feeling better as I go along. It's only been two weeks and two days since I had my surgery...it was a scary time for both my husband and I. I'm grateful for all the kind and knowledgeable comments and encouragement I got from everyone on this web site!
Best of luck to you!
Lynda

Hi, D,
I saw your post about 3 hours ago, but couldn't get the site to load on my computer, or I'd have gotten back to you much sooner. I didn't have any bloating with my symptoms. I did experience tiredness. When I rested, I didn't recover. And, I felt a heaviness in my lower middle and what felt like the intermittent cramping that I experienced with my periods.
Please take heart, knowing that your doctors are working to get you properly diagnosed. Once you know what's going on, you can let yourself feel your feelings--but press on to enable the solution they offer. Though my arms can't embrace you, I'm reaching out to you in love and support. xxx Lynda

Hi, D,
I had a biopsy, then a hysterectomy in July. I'm getting better. Though I was diagnosed with cancer, it was confined to my uterus. By all means if you have to have a hysterectomy get it done as soon as possible!
My thoughts and prayers are with you! xx Lynda

Hi, D, I understand, because I was in your shoes in July, when I got diagnosed. I am hoping and praying that you don't have it. If you do have it, and it is addressed quickly, it probably hasn't spread. If they tell you that you need surgery, get it as soon as you can. Please let me know how you're doing and don't stop being determined to get to the bottom of what's happening. Feel your feelings, by all means, but do what you need to do to take care of yourself! I'm trying to be good and not over do things, so I don't have any set backs. As soon as my MD clears me I'm going to start getting healthier. It may be slowly, but I'm going to do it! Please keep in touch. xx Lynda

i dont know what i was looking at other than lots of tisue flowing around and bits of blood, did you have a actual tumor that could be seen or was it just cells in the lining that diagnosed it for you, its juts i dont think any lumps were seen only cysts.

I had an in-office biopsy, which was painful. My husband came with me and he said that there was lots of tissue and bits of blood, just as you experienced. I don't think that they noticed an actual tumor till the surgery was done and they checked over everything. I will say that the results of the biopsy (of the cells in the lining) were a bit different than the results from the surgery. In my opinion, the surgery pathology is more accurate. I understand that in times past they used to do d&c's to remove the endometrial tissue, then biopsy that. To me, that might be just enabling a tumor of a different type, say in your uterine wall, that they can't see, to grow. Once I got the biopsy results I wanted a full hysterectomy asap. There are different types of uterine cancers. Endometrial cancer is just one of them. Hope this helps!

dont know how we going to cope if i have to have an op and i have cancer hope its not.
hows your recovery going ?
how long did you stay in hospital and was it a vaginal operation or through your tummy?
my mom had a hysterectomy at 40 she had stapples in her tummy thats all i rememmber. she dies when i was young then my dad so i do t know anythi g of why she had an hysterectomy dont know if it was cancer. just know she died few years later from leukaemia poor thing.
its such a worry all this and every twinge makes me worry more like constant stitch in my sides and bloating makes me think the worst.
even thoe i have ibs lol which does same.
i. tierd out today so much and all iv done is sit.
my ribs hurt to.
perhaps its a lack of exersise.
im not overweight but i do have a tummy like heavly pregnant but i always put that down to havi g twins and i just never got rid of it but i do get blaoted alot which has gotten worse.
i had bad c section when i had twins and i lost alot of blood got a giant hematoma in my muscle wall.
so now worried about lesions and scaring which may make my hysterectomy a problem. i think i. going to have one even if i dont have cancer as just bleeding all the time isnt good at all.
i also keep havi g bad pains in my tummy to started a few hour ago.

Hi, D,
I'm so sorry that you are having such a hard time. I had DaVinci robotic surgery. The surgeon took my bits out through my vagina; then sewed the top where my cervix was shut!
I had very small incisions in my abdomen, six, in fact in various areas. I spent the night after surgery in the hospital, and came home the next afternoon. My surgeon saw me about 10 days after my surgery. I have my final post op in the end of August. When my surgeon releases me, I'm going to have to work to get back into shape. I was pretty uncomfortable the first 4-5 days after the surgery, because they injet gas into your body; and it had to dissipate
My suggestion is that you try to take things as they come, if you can. Right now, you're projecting into the future, and some things that you're worried about may not occur. I know that I was really scared, and it was hard to get hold of myself. I had a hard time sleeping, and that made it all so much worse. Remember that you are not the only person to have had surgeries before the one that may be coming up, and that most surgeons have lots of experience.
Take care, xx
Lynda

Hi, D,
It's good to hear from you. I'm sorry you've developed a new symptom. Didn't they say about 2 weeks till you get the results? Do you have an appointment scheduled with a consultant to discuss? Please let me know. I'm praying for you! Lynda
