Feel like something stuck in my throat

Hi. I'm really hoping somebody can help me, can't find any discussions on here! For the last few months I've had a feeling of having something stuck at the base of my throat or like a lump. It's not there all the time and comes and goes. I went to visit the doc and she had a look but said couldn't see anything and all looked and felt good, but to be in the safe side would refer me to ent to have a look. So today, a month after seeing doc, I had a letter from hosp. I have an urgent appt in 5 days to be seen so that they can rule out more serious conditions such as cancer. This letter has completely freaked me out and I have been in tears all day and am now thinking I have some form of cancer! I'm a 41 yr old lady and a complete mess today as I can't phone or speak to anybody for assurance or advice!
Could my go have seen something and not told me??? Thankyou x

Hi Shastar!
In my husband's case, it seems that his was caused mostly by really bad allergies. He started taking allergy shots and it helped tremendously. It still didn't go away completely so the doctor is convinced that he may also have acid reflux so they just started him on a new acid reflux medicine. So we will see how it goes.
Hope this helps!

I've had the same issue, just started happening today. It kinda feels like I can idk put my fingers on my throat with a little pressure and try hard to hock a looogie.. (ik sounds gross, but idk feels like it's moving) when I brush I swipe my tongue with my toothbrush and I've put it in a Lil farther to idk loosen what ever it is that's bothering me..I almost vomited tho. ..idk if that will help tho. It seems like it moves down a Lil farther so it's not bugging me bit then it moves back up and is annoying again... I smoke to tho... so ya cancer came to mind when it started happening
got me scared. And however...made me smoke more

I have the same, the Dr first said it was a sore throat. then asthma, then said it was heart burn. I'm getting pretty fed up that nothing is working, its been 4 months now, so any ideas would be good.

Hi,
I recently started having the same issues, a feeling of a lump in my throat. I do have a problem with hypothyroidism, which I take Synthroid for. I have always suffered with problems with constipation (sorry for sensitivity) and have been trying to add more fiber to my diet, as I don't want to become dependent on Laxatives. I have heard that Ground (Milled) flaxseed that you can stir in oatmeal, coffee, yogurt, water (about a tablespoon a day) is excellent for digestion and constipation issues, and I have also been taking probiotic yogurt with live active strains such as acidolphilus and BB-12, is excellent as well, and has helped alot with my digestion. But, that is when I noticed a lump in my throat. I spoke to a nurse and he said that some people might have allergies to certain foods such as nuts, yogurt, flaxseed, especially if you have thyroid problems because these foods contain an ingredient that can enlarge your thyroid causing goiterlike symptoms. Now, I am frightened. I'm going to make an appt with my Doctor next week, just seeing if anyone else thinks lump they have might be caused by food allergies. Thanks.
