Feeling horrible after been on the steroid prednisone

Hi all , wonder if anyone can help .. I was put on prednisone steroid for 5 days after I went to my doctor last Thursday wif a cough and slightly tight chest .. I was on 8 tabs a day and I'm sure they were 5mg .. I finished them on Monday past .. Since Sunday tho I have been feeling quite weird like my whole body is aching and I just don't feel normal my legs r the worst wif really bad pains like I have ran a marathon and feel really hot and just like i have flu I'm usually fit and healthy so to be feeling like this is making me feel anxious .. I did read that this steroid can have these effects .wish I never started them now tho as hate feeling like this so glad there finished , just wondered if anyone else had any of these feelings wif it ? Thank u X

    I’m starting to think I’m a unique case. I was prescribed prednisone for 7 days. It was the pack so i was tapering off of it. I didn’t even think to check for side effects or I wouldn’t have ever taken it. It’s been 3 weeks and I’m still getting migraines and my body is weak and not to mention the lack of sleep. I say unique because I’ve had these symptoms too long for a short period of usage. How long did it take for you to feel better?

      Roughly took predisone around mar 17th.. stop taking it mar 24th and didnt feel better till around april 16ish..mine was a short dose too

      I'm right along with you. My last dose was April 4th and I'm still dealing with side effects.

      Hi Terry, any updates? Feeling any better? I am just off this stuff and feeling terrible.

      I’m starting to feel better for longer periods of time now. I’m still dealing with headaches and some nausea. It’s upsetting in a weird way to hear that you’re fine, but know that something is off. This is month 3 and life is not the way it was before the prednisone.

    First visit to doctor was in Feb 2018, dr took a look at my throat and said I have bad post nasal drip. Said  it was most likely due to weather changes . I wanted to do things naturally so I just got some sodium chloride for nasal irrigation.  Recently, now may 2018, some same symptoms came back so I went back. Dr looked at my throats said post nasal and said there is fluid in my right ear. She said she will put me on a steriod( prednisone) .. I agreed. 20 mg / day for 5 days . On the fourth day, today,  I felt so bad I thought post nasal was acting up so I took prednisone again however today was a really bad day. My arms ache,  my legs feel weird , just an all around weird feeling. Lips twitching a bit. A few muscle twitches here and there.  Oddly, I woke up this morning wth so much energy. I did my HIT workout in my basement and I just couldn't believe how much energy I had. Then half hour later the symptoms started and I thought it was post nasal but maybe it's the prednisone. I didn't leave the house today even though I had so much to do. I have such anxiety thinking something terrible it wrong with me. Did anyone experience such symptoms ?

      Yes I had these symptoms.. look at your prescription and see who your manufacture of the predisone is. If its says "Roxane" you need to contact the FDA. I believe they are manufacturing a bad batch

      I have the same experience. Feel pretty good one day and you think your finally over it, then it comes back hours later. I have been in bed for 3 days cause of the lack of energy and being dizzy. I’m depressed and very anxious about all this. Never again.

      Thanks for all your comments Tom, it's given me a new positive outlook on my similar situation. I checked and my bottle is not Roxane but I'm still calling FDA.

    Hello,

    I’m desperate ! It’s helping to read that I’m not the only one. I was prescribed medrol 6 day pack for my sinus infection and it’s been horrible. I since then have head reassure, extreme enxieties with uncontrolled shaking , fatigue, loss of appetite, loss of focus, insomnia, I didn’t sleep for 4 days! Today is day 6 off the pills and I’m still misarable. How long this leaving hell will last? Pleas pleas share positive stories, I’m depressed and crying every day!

      I'm not sure what medrol is but with predisone I only took it for seven days took almost a month on the dot to feel normal not trying to discourage you.. just hang in there try a well balanced diet of fruits and vegs to help replenish needed micro nutrients your body is depleted about the 2 week mark of eating right I felt alot better.. tey and stay away from any medicines like antihistamines etc rhey will o lt delay the curing.. I promise I did and felt better letting my body do its thing natural instead of making the symtoms it's a tough ride but you'll be ok if you follow what I said.. lll say a prayer for you tonight for fast healing godbless

      Have your symptoms improved any since yesterday? I'm on week 5 of still being exhausted. My other symptoms are lesser but this exhaustion is killer.

      This is the beginning of week 4 for me. The symptoms are changing, but I’m still having sleepless nights and headaches. Had a  neurologist appointment today and will have additional test later this week. I will never take this med ever again!

      Do you mind me asking what tests you're having done? I've had alot of bloodwork and so far everything is normal besides that I'm a little low on vitamin D. I'm taking supplements for that though. I have an appointment tomorrow because I forgot to mention between 2 courses of antibiotics & the prednisone I also developed oral thrush that I can't get rid of.

      They are slightly getting better but I still couldn’t sleep last night, this is a nightmare . I’m so tired

       I’m not sure what all the test will be. I did 3 test for memory and balance.

      Week 4 off the drag? How long was you taking it ? 4 weeks and still side effects is so discouraging. I have head pressure and can’t sleep, it’s killing me

      I took it for a week 50 mg. Dr is still doing other bloodwork to check for something else. She doesn't think this is still the prednisone side effects. I've asked several doctors and none of them believe these withdrawal symptoms are dragging out this long but can't give me another explanation. I'm depressed too.

      I took mine for a week also and this week 4 and the doctors don’t think it’s prednisone. I was actually fine before taking the meds. I was taking it for inflammation of a disk in my back.
