    Hi joy.

May I join in? I had my op on 17th September and I still get very fed up too.

I do not like being on a crutch. Don't like being a nuisance. Hate not being able to drive. And so on .....

But I don't need any painkillers now and I certainly don't miss that screwdriver- like pain in my hip 24/7.

Also I can now sit in the cinema for two hours without squirming and wriggling in pain. So maybe it will be worth it in the end?

Hope you begin to feel a tiny bit better soon. Hugs.

I've taken no painkillers, my choice.

Still find sitting in one place causes a pain in bum cheek!!!

    Dear joy

I feel for you and how frustrated you are feeling at the moment. I agree nobody tells you just how long it takes to fully recover and all the highs and lows you have along the way. How lonely and isolated you can feel even if you have a husband or partner but they are at work all day.

You were saying you hurt everytime you move, are you taking any pain killers? Have you been for your check up with your consultant yet?

I have just had my second hip op so having been through it once I had a more realistic idea of what it would be like second time round. Not that it necessarily makes it easier you just know the road to full recovery takes a long time!!

You say that you can take up to a year off if you needed to but that you feel guilty about being away from your job for too long and the vulnerable young people you care for. Far better that you take the time off that you need to be fully recovered when you go back to work than to go back too early and struggle, that wouldnt help you or the yp you care for.

Sleeping will eventually get back to normal (whatever that is for you) in the mean time make sure you have something to drink if you need it and Like mike I have my trusty ipad to while away the time if Im awake at 3 in the morning.

So as all the other lovely hippies have said, we have all been there, you are not alone, be kind to yourself and allow yourself as time as YOU need to get better.

Take care and if you are awake in the wee small hours why not post something and see how many replies you get!
