      Hi Renee

Ouch for the friends and family. That sounds so so tough. I think you said you moved from the west coast of the USA? That's one big move, geographically and culture wise. Not to mention language! Do you speak Dutch? How are you coping with the weather?

I hope you get back to driving soon so you're not so isolated. Can you test the left foot out on a stationary car?

Big warm hug coming right back to you.

Obviously none of us are alone in this endeavor. One day at a time. I was one who went back at 3 weeks, but part time for 2 weeks. Only because I didn't want to face a whole year without having anymore vacation days. So I forced my self to go back. I actually think it I helped in my recovery. Not having anything to do all day drove me bonkers!! But I had a bilateral. THR and I have a office job. Not a lot a walking, lifting, just sitting at computer.

Still only get about 5 hours of interupted sleep each night, sure am ready for a all-nighter and a don't mean mean romantically😋

    Hang in there!!

Hi joy been off site for few days as lots going on but had good laugh reading all these comments. I am 11 weeks today TRHR and what a journey ! I have even worked in occupational therapy in past so really thought I would find it all a breeze .... It is a roller coaster but this site is brilliant! From sex to painting toe nails blue ! It's all on here . At 8 weeks I was fed up too ! Panicking about going to family wedding and feeling like a "fat hippo " but ....just attended wedding got fab new outfit and danced all night !!! We are all so different joy so don't compare ! I have to go back to work next week and I am SO scared I can't tell you . I have seen occupational health physio who is brilliant but I'm terrified as I have demanding job treating special needs patients in a very busy nhs dental department but I will take day at a time .

So try smile and you will come out the other side trust us

I loved this post and laughed a lot. For someone

who is fed up you have made us all smile!

You had the op because if you hadn't you would

have been walking with a stick, then crutches then

wheelchair! We do not realise we need so much

patiencethroughout recovery with it's many ups and

downs!  But after this note you know that a sense of

    humour helps as well!

So, tonight, the man is back to work!! Been home all week as was half term. I should be going in with him as, we work together.

Back to feeling guilty about him having to do both our hours, with no cover for me, back to sleeping alone every night and only having I player and my old Rayburn, and my giant hairy dog for company until he gets up, just in time for evening meal tomorrow!!! Then, it all starts again, 5hrs later!!!!

    blah blah blah!!!!!

    hi joy

Thanks for making us smile. I reckon you are lonely more so than anything else. That is when we notice our aches and pains more.

So  I am just sending this to say keep going. My dog is sitting with me as I type this post. You are not alone in feeling fed up.

    Hugs

Like others I have really enjoyed reading all these posts. It just shows that we can all identify with some or all of the issues mentioned here. The support on this forum is fantastic because I have felt very alone during this journey of the THR and although I'm 13 weeks post op there are still scary times although it's tons better than the first 2 weeks post op. I hope all those feeling down get lots of fuzzy warmth from all the posts which are sending us all good wishes. Thanks guys. It does help knowing there are others in the same position. Love to all x

    Oh what joy, not!!

Woke up this morning, hip stiff, as in normal wake up.

Get out of bed, and, oh no, what's going on???

Went to stand up, only to find my knee, same leg, is agony!!! Down the stairs at slower than normal snails pace, confined to naughty chair, in the hope that being a lazy mare helps knee to get back to normal! !!!

    Happy days!!!!!!!

having been awake most of the night juggling discomfort in hip and pain in knee, I finally decided to call gp for advise!

back on single crutch, to ease the load, not that I'm built like a double decker bus!! No lifting,no carrying, ibuprofen gell and paracetamol!! More pain relief than when I first came home!! Am thinking, please , give me back my old hip!!!!! Lol.

      How long post op Joy?

I have had sleepless nights for 8 weeks and end up getting up and having breakfast at 3. a.m!! I think things are getting better as I can now sleep on my side which helps so much.  I am also back on painkillers at night...I am putting weight on though!  Scarey going for walks at the moment as rain and leaves .....but feel I must keep the walking but have let the excercises go a bit..

      Have a better night!

I was a little surprised at 2nd appt. I had op in Yates, but, I live in the Cotswolds, so, for convenience I saw a different consultant as mine wasn't doing clinics in Cirencester. Not sure if that is why, just to cover his own back?

Joy, soory to read this post of yours BUT!   it has given me an easier mind.  I have had so much pain the last few days.  I keep pillow between my legs and do sleep on my side like that for most of the night.  I still use one crutch, I potter round the house with out one but as for anything else I feel I still need it as it's painfull to walk and still a pronounced limp without the crutch.  I still take painkillers and there have been times when I want my old hip back.  I pray it will get better soon, 8 weeks today. x
