Fibro/CFS causing severe constipation and acid reflux

Posted , 7 users are following.

Hi, I was wondering how many of you suffer badly with constipation and acid reflux. The reflux can sometimes mimic pain of a hear attack and it can be quite frightening. I am also finding for the past year I am only opening my bowels once or twice a week which could possibly be because I spend more time in bed as I feel constantly exhausted. How do you manage to control these symptoms? Thanks

Hi,I would just like to ask if anyone has ever had problems swallowing food?

I went out for a meal on Sunday, had steak with chips.Started off fine, but then my mouth became very dry,as if there was no spit,I could not swallow my food and ended up leaving half of it!

It took 2 hours before my throst felt ok again, but since this I am having problems with certain foods, especially if they are not wet.It feels as though it is getting stuck in my throat and I am going to choke.

    Please help.

it could be so many things  aniexty/stress

.i get very dry mouth due to catearh, ,and if i eat cheese or bacon . so if you can rule out these things .

some meds can also cause a dry mouth and conditions like fibro and Me . if all this can be ruled out then its a trip to the doctors hun

,i  dont  think much of them but sometimes its only them that can sort you out. you need to find out the reason . before you can do anything .

      Thanks,

I will see how it goes this week and if it is no better I will mention it to my GP whe I see her next week.

Hoping it is nothing serious,I really do not need something else on top of every other problem!

Fibro, anxiety and I also suffer with Hyperhidrosis. sad

if you have fibro sorry i didnt see it mentioned in your first post .

then i think your find its due to this , it is one of the many symptoms of fibro and it comes and goes ,

my aunt had surgery which caused trouble swallowing unrelated to our condition , and she was told to bring her chin forward towards her chest when she had diffitculty swallowing i do this now it does seem to help .

look up fibro symptoms on line thats its were i read that a dry mouth is common symptom its not in all listings but in most .

you dont want to be pulled about and poked and proded uncesery

because this can cause pain flares . so try to avoid when possiable eek

Thanks,I was really starting to worry.

I have had fibro for 5 and a half years now,I know just about all there is to about symptoms, but not heard of difficulty swallowing.

I might inform my GP anyway,so that they can add it to my list!wink

Yes Emlou, as Tiswas says, it is part of fibro - it's almost like every part of our body seems to go wrong and it's almost unrepairable. I get dry mouth too and things like steak and chicken breast can sometimes be difficult to swallow. You just need to lay off it for a while until your saliva returns. Good luck x

i find avoiding or reducing  salt and salty food like bacon and cheese helps to reduce the dryness .,

      Thanks.

I have just been eating some toast and it has happened again,it is as if I get the food to the back of my throat, then there is no saliva to swallow it down and it gets stuck,it panics me because it feels as though I am going to choke!sad

drink with it ,i do know the feeling and it does cause panic sometimes because like you say its at the back of the throat and it doesent seem to want to move either way ,sometimes i say it feels like i have forgotten how to swallow . did you try bringing your chin forward to your chest .

this also happens to me at nigth and during the day at times when i am not eating .i do the chin /chest thing there as well seems to open up the back of the throat .

Will try it later and see if it works,I am worrying about even eating now neutral

I know what you mean when i first started with it i thought i was having a heart attack eek its very painful. since i was young i have suffered with my bowls rolleyes mum even took me to the doctors because i was and still am a very windy girl ha ha  told i have IBS gave me fibrogel which isnt to bad. Now at 42 have just changed my diet try and have bran in the morning and a bannana, eat spinach or kayle, fart like a trooper but has kept me regular. having this condition is hard on the body and some medications cause constipation , if needed sometimes i take a poo pill dulcoease. when you feel up to it maybe try a gentle swim. Hi Hazel, I am super windy too from both ends and it drives me mad as all I want to do is go poo! I feel it stuck in the lower part of my colon. The acid pain is horrid though and it can be so painful in my chest it makes me short of breath and feels like someone has dropped something heavy on you. I always wake up with a sore/itchy throat too. Hugs to you too xx

Oh I have just been laughing at your reply, Thats so funny. Yes its so true my nan used to tell me off , yet I would hear her fart like a trooper. I am so childish about it. I am loud and so is my daughter , sons middle of the range. My husband trys to beat us but not yet. I remember going to a yoga class years ago and the instructor bent forward to demonstrate and she let one loud one fly, know one else reacted but i was crying with laughter and gulping couldnt help it cry, i had to pick my mat up and walk out. was the best laugh i had in ages. I remember a poem my mum said to me think it goes like this. where air you may be let your wind go free , in church or chapel let it rattle. something like that. hugs xxxx

Ok Hazel and Tiswas about to go to bed now and still no darn poos or poo. I have farted about 30 times though with some lasting at least 5 seconds - I wonder what the world record is. So anyway I have now bough a tin of prunes and some prune juice as I am officially at war now with my backside. Lying here now and here comes a hot flush and my night sweats I'm sure will begin in an hour - oh life as a woman is crap (pardon the pun) xx

have you tried live yogurt a large tub supposed to be helpful . mines still moving thank god but very slowly you must be in agony.

have you tried lactulose ,or syrup of figs   i find lactulose normaly shifts any thing but  i try to avoid it because its basicly all conentrated sugars

but i might just have to use it.

iv got some senna chocolate exlax i try that tomorrow after yet another  acupunture treatment .

mines the same i can feel it in my left side in the decending colon.

its just taking its time moving down .

iv had two lots of hot chocolate and coconut oil stil did help much i think if it was mild to moderate it would have worked  .but this is a stuborn one .

i saw this on the net ,  to help aid digestion. soak a cotton cloth in castor oil heat in oven for a few minutes so just warm ,apply to stomach then a plastic bag and then a heat heat pad /or hot water bottle then wrapp round a couple of towels to keep the heat in lay back for 30 minutes .havn't tried it yet but sounds like a good idea .

      razz

years ago in my teens i used to have to take castor oil for constipation yukky .
