Funny tingling all over body

Hi everyone!

For about 6 weeks now, off and on, I've had this weird tingling all over my body.

At times it'll be concentrated in one place (like pins and needles) in both my feet or a hand or a shin. And then other times like tonight, it'll be like little sudden twitches of tingling...almost like a little buzzy, tingling insect. So tonight, buzz on my top lip and then my scalp and then my big toe and then my thumb and then my cheek. I go to scratch myself to make it stop (though it's definitely on the inside....not like a skin condition).

I went to the doctors about 4 weeks ago and he was very dismissive. Said it wouldn't be anything serious as neurological stuff would involve chronic persistent pins/needles in one specific area. I was texted for thyroid and glandular fever (as I mentioned I'd had a really bad cold and sore throat and that's when it seemed to have started). Both tests came back normal.

It's very annoying. I do have sciatica and wonder if that's causing it? The little tingles all over are keeping me awake right now!

Perhaps I should go back to the docs? To be honest, he made me feeling like a raving hypochondriac last time (despite the fact he could see from my records is not been to the doctors in over 10 years, apart from an A&E visit for a broken foot!).

Any ideas?

i have been dealing with similar for at least 2 years.....started on lips and face...Initially i would have thought herpes virus as it started 2 days.after i was assaulted by a drunk woman who fell on me then kissed me very wet over my face...yuk!! Headaches Fatigue nausea for three t. four weeks with the sense of a hives under skin on lips but no outbreak....Then. stinging , itching burning crawling like frostbite affecting trimengenal nerves in face...Also severe stiff neck.. Thought it all very serous.. Went to dr. 10 times in 4 months.Had many many blood tests done and repeated.. all OK... retested again at one year..all ok.. ..Have had Prostatitis, thryroiditis, pnuemonitis, asthma, urethritis ,chronic fatigue / fibro- undiagnosed because they dont believe in it....Extremely low testosterone...( need HRT).but most HRT dont work well... Also have marker for LUPUS with positive ANA blood marker. .Also have been extreme low vit D. work 70 hrs a week and work shifts ( 12 hr. 2 days 2 nights plus OT.

the Tingling , burning , itching crawling is now over most of my body...and occurs constantly..

Dr was dismissive besides blood tests...Finally after a year saw Nuero..he said buy a bike and enjoy the summer..

I have an MRI scheduled for next week...will be 23 months since first dr..appointment...the MRI is for M.S. clinic......

can you imagine...one Nuero exam- buy a bike....and then at 2 year mark an MRI....

Canada's free but useless healthcare system.........grrrr.

    Hi Everyone,

Checking back in on this thread. My tingling is pretty much gone for almost 2 years now.

Quite honestly, I think for me it was mostly anxiety and panic attacks, which then just kept feeding into an illness anxiety and was downright awful.

After pretty much every test under the sun, the things that were uncovered were some hormone levels that we've stabilized with Bioidentical HRT (I'm a 47 year old female) and some autoimmune stuff brewing in my system (not enough for a full diagnosis at this point, but signs of lupus and sjogrens)

I still feel like the brain MRI and the neuro testing (both clean) really had a lot to do with calming my anxiety. And also working with a therapist for some coping tips to get through the acute times. We can't underestimate the physical impact of anxiety and stress...even if you "feel" like you have no stress going on. The body interprets something as stress and initiates all sorts of physical responses.

I still take my supplements and eat more fruits and veggies and most of the stuff that I listed in my post from almost 2 years ago. But I've cut out the bulletproof coffee, and I also drink filtered city water again and use a few more mainstream shampoos and soaps and stuff.

It is such a scary thing to be going through, I really hope and pray that all of you guys find the same relief and peace that I've found!

I can't say enough about finding a good naturopathic doctor to help you through all of this...mine was literally a God send.

HI! this is exactly what I feel. My left side on butt doesn't necessarily 'hurt' but can get uncomfortable in car or on Frontier Airlines flights because their seats are so damn hard. I have had this for 3 weeks now and it is a major annoyance for me. My left side of body tingles, and is centered on that left cheek area. I can feel it a little in my arm, sometimes my cheek/forehead. Did you ever resolve this or learn anything that made this better? Did alcohol affect this at all? thanks for any advice.

You are also describing what I have had for years; the sensations vary over time, some reverting back to an earlier time. (a rather nice sensation that has recently returned, having been missing for maybe one year, is a feeling in the middle of my shoulder blades as if I am being tickled with a feather 😃 ) .

BUT it was the discomfort when driving, and yes being on a plane, that took me to seek medical advice.

No luck.MRI showed nothing - they scanned my back and head! (I have had back issues going back to being 19yrs old, I am now 58yrs old, so am used to certain "nerve" sensations, but these are different) .

Blood tests were also done, with nothing evident.

The neurologist did not mention peripheral neuropathy,I have read up on it since; alcohol can be the casue of this, however both your symptoms and mine are not in peripheral areas, so I have no idea, and nor do the medics.

      HURRAH then!

BTW I would say I first noticed the condition 8 years ago. Double hurrah!

      Good luck, Julie

Hi I had an MRI done to check for MS, came back clear. Per a Nuerologist I have muscle fascilation. Still have it to this day. Not life threatening, just something I have to live with. I notice when my anxiety kicks up, so do the muscle twitches, I hate.

hi mine was triggered by withdrawal from Sertraline, has now worn off but seems to have left more sensitive to allergies which I'm wondering if is down to histamine levels or just a coincidence, but I've got wheezing etc which I didn't have before

      how did everything turn out?

I got flu-like symptoms in January. Then I started developing ear fullness, facial tightness and a heavy swollen head feeling. Doctor treated it as an ear infection.

Eventually vertigo diminished but now has turned into heart palpitations, burning throbbing hands and feet and cold sensations in my hands at random times.

Could that be my nerves? MS?

Im 29 years old and was healthy going into the new year. IDK what happened. Can anxiety cause this feeling everyday?
