Funny tingling all over body

Hi everyone!
For about 6 weeks now, off and on, I've had this weird tingling all over my body.
At times it'll be concentrated in one place (like pins and needles) in both my feet or a hand or a shin. And then other times like tonight, it'll be like little sudden twitches of tingling...almost like a little buzzy, tingling insect. So tonight, buzz on my top lip and then my scalp and then my big toe and then my thumb and then my cheek. I go to scratch myself to make it stop (though it's definitely on the inside....not like a skin condition).
I went to the doctors about 4 weeks ago and he was very dismissive. Said it wouldn't be anything serious as neurological stuff would involve chronic persistent pins/needles in one specific area. I was texted for thyroid and glandular fever (as I mentioned I'd had a really bad cold and sore throat and that's when it seemed to have started). Both tests came back normal.
It's very annoying. I do have sciatica and wonder if that's causing it? The little tingles all over are keeping me awake right now!
Perhaps I should go back to the docs? To be honest, he made me feeling like a raving hypochondriac last time (despite the fact he could see from my records is not been to the doctors in over 10 years, apart from an A&E visit for a broken foot!).
Any ideas?

That there are so many possible reasons and outcomes..and most importantly..we are not alone. So thankyou.
Ok my story now
I have had burning skin all over my body for the past four years. It is transient ..so i can feel it anywhere on body and it cones and goes. Seems to come once a month or so for about a week...more intense for 4 days then eases off to nothing . so i mention this because now i have this strange numbness that acts the same. I just started the symptoms a few days ago..it was only here and there ..felt it in my breast..vulva and hand. But just tonight i can feel it everywhere! All over my body it travels..only lasts a few seconds in each spot. A tingly prickly numbness. So i am all scared thinking its lou garetts disease but the more i research i see other likely suspects thank god. Now i have seen 3 different internist years ago for my burning skin...also a nuerologist and a Battery of blood work. All came up fine. So i just live with it as it comes and goes...i also recently am getting eye floaters. Also for a few years ive had ringing in ears itching..pain in joints and soreness.
If anyone has had the same or similiar please let me know. Especially if you have some answers!
Thankyou kind ppl of the net.

I also have flaoters - first time anyone has mentioned this; I have a really big one in teh middle of one eye, which affects what I focus on, eg making reading trickier.
Sorry I have no answers; it would be great if someone on this site did come up with something concrete,
Sincerely, Julie

Hey Haveconnection, this is the first time since it started all about a year ago and 3 months ago that I find someone who describes symptoms similar to mine, especially the eyes floaters and Ringings in ears As you described, I also suffer from tingling and a sensation of burning all over the body, as well as sensitivity to clothing, burnning feets and palms that fall asleep at night. A feeling of instability and more ... I was diagnosed with SFN (small fiber neuropathy) but this does not explain all my symptoms.
We must be strong to get this through...

I experience following symptoms after taking vitamin B complex supplement.
1. Tingling all over the body
2. Twitching all over the body predominantly legs stomach back right-side
3. Shocking sensation in body
4. Crawling sensation mainly in scalp and sometime on other part of body.
5. Numbness in foot and hands. In the night both hand feeling numb.
6. Insomnia, anxiety, stress
7. Sharp pinning/needling sensation in body,pain
I was taking Neurobion (Merck )containing Vitamin -B1 100MG, Vitamin B6- 200MG ,Vitamin B12-200MCG
I took one tablet each day for nearly 40 days. Without knowing these tablets are poisoning me each single day. I experienced symptoms on 25th day but I was thinking thease are not due to vitamin supplement. On the supplement pack it was written these tablets are good for back pain ,nerve tingling and prickling, Good Nerves health etc. I was so fool to look at this information and taking till 40th day.
At last I consulted neurology doctor he has advised me to do following blood test.
1. Calcium
2. Magnesieum
3. CK/CPK
All above test are normal. Then nerve conduction test and EMG also normal.
Finally doctor concluded I have binign fesuculation . he advised it comes and goes. Just ignore and asked me see psychologist.
I was desperate and suffering all above mentioned symptoms. I searched in internet for possible cause and in some website it was mentioned heavy metal toxicity is the one of the cause of twitching and tingling in body. I gone to private lab and ordered heavy metal toxicity test for nickel, arsenic, mercury, led, zinc etc
All above heavy metal toxicity reports came normal.
Finally I ordered all vitamin B complex panel blood test and my vitamin b-6 level was found 212 ng/Ml (normal range is 8.7-27.2) nearly 7 times high than normal range.
I stopped the vitamin B supplement. Today 29th day and I have still have moderate symptoms in the body but the magnitude of the symptoms have been reduced to some extent. This is good sign of recovery mode. I have no idea how much damage these vitamins have done and how long it takes to recover. now I am very careful with my diet now avoiding B6 rich food. Noticed whenever I eat B rich food my symptoms will increases . I eat Amaranth which has rich B6 and started numbness in foot hand and mild tingling. Burning in arms.it is very difficult to completely avoid B6 rich food.
In coming days I will keep update my progress of recovery

Hi johnson62937,
So, you are saying your symptoms wer due - probably - to too much vit B6? You don't say why you were taking them to start with. wer you trying to prevent a particular condition?
I don't take supplements but am now going to look at Vit B6 rich foods and see if I can adapt my diet...
Thank you, Julie

Hello All,
Jumping into the pool here, I've also got some mysterious transient tingling all over and I'm so happy to have found this thread after doing sone Googling! I'm a 45 year old female, and my tingling sonds similar to many of you - moves around, sometimes shins, sometimes scalp, sometimes face, sometimes arms, sometimes a combination. Mine is getting to a point where I feel like I need to itch or rub it in spots. I also have a mental fog sometimes, so I don't know if that's related. It has been going on for a couple of months. I did have a positive ANA screen, so I'm now seeing a rheumatologist and testing for lupus and the like. Still waiting on the test results. I did show a slightly low vitamin D, so I've started taking a supplement. My tingling seems to get worse at night, which is awful since that's a perfect time to mess with my anxiety. My naturopath has given me lavender capsules, but they don't seem to be helping with my anxiety over this...and then there's a big part of me that wonders if this is anxiety-driven.
Anyway, that's my intro, I could hug all of you for being out there! I feel like I'm going crazy, so I'm comforted knowing there are others feeing the same way (not that I would wish this on anyone)

I think beacuse you are woman at age 45 you may want to check wether its relate to Menopause.
You can check it on Wikipedia.
Have a nice day.

Thanks Nati030, but I've been down that path and my hormone levels are all good right now. That's the easiest thing for the medical field to point to in a woman over 40, so that was one of the first stops in testing.
I'm starting to think about neurotoxins too...anyone here ever test for toxins and heavy metals? Apparently there's a hair test that can show a bit more info than a blood test.

Hi Courtney82170,
I'll copy and paste a follow up post I made about 6 months ago, which is still my conclusion (and I'm now 48, LOL):
Hi Everyone,
Checking back in on this thread. My tingling is pretty much gone for almost 2 years now.
Quite honestly, I think for me it was mostly anxiety and panic attacks, which then just kept feeding into an illness anxiety and was downright awful.
After pretty much every test under the sun, the things that were uncovered were some hormone levels that we've stabilized with Bioidentical HRT (I'm a 47 year old female) and some autoimmune stuff brewing in my system (not enough for a full diagnosis at this point, but signs of lupus and sjogrens)
I still feel like the brain MRI and the neuro testing (both clean) really had a lot to do with calming my anxiety. And also working with a therapist for some coping tips to get through the acute times. We can't underestimate the physical impact of anxiety and stress...even if you "feel" like you have no stress going on. The body interprets something as stress and initiates all sorts of physical responses.
I still take my supplements and eat more fruits and veggies and most of the stuff that I listed in my post from almost 2 years ago. But I've cut out the bulletproof coffee, and I also drink filtered city water again and use a few more mainstream shampoos and soaps and stuff.
It is such a scary thing to be going through, I really hope and pray that all of you guys find the same relief and peace that I've found!
I can't say enough about finding a good naturopathic doctor to help you through all of this...mine was literally a God send.
