Funny tingling all over body

Hi everyone!

For about 6 weeks now, off and on, I've had this weird tingling all over my body.

At times it'll be concentrated in one place (like pins and needles) in both my feet or a hand or a shin. And then other times like tonight, it'll be like little sudden twitches of tingling...almost like a little buzzy, tingling insect. So tonight, buzz on my top lip and then my scalp and then my big toe and then my thumb and then my cheek. I go to scratch myself to make it stop (though it's definitely on the inside....not like a skin condition).

I went to the doctors about 4 weeks ago and he was very dismissive. Said it wouldn't be anything serious as neurological stuff would involve chronic persistent pins/needles in one specific area. I was texted for thyroid and glandular fever (as I mentioned I'd had a really bad cold and sore throat and that's when it seemed to have started). Both tests came back normal.

It's very annoying. I do have sciatica and wonder if that's causing it? The little tingles all over are keeping me awake right now!

Perhaps I should go back to the docs? To be honest, he made me feeling like a raving hypochondriac last time (despite the fact he could see from my records is not been to the doctors in over 10 years, apart from an A&E visit for a broken foot!).

Any ideas?

Trying again as my long post disappeared again so adding on to old post

Recovering from shingles and having now having the symptoms you are

briefly what works for me. Lots of water, 20 plus min of fast walking, regular meals watching food choices with no chocolate, spices, acidic fruits, do a shingles-food search, as much sleep, rest as possible. Avoid stressors as much as possible as body in tense fight-flight mode triggers nerves (when get nerves flairing up did my relax work and the calmed down. Work to focus your mind on sound of your slow, comfortably deep breath, on the sounds around you and gently bring it back when it wanders off. There is tons on relaxing mind and body just find one thing that works for you. Lenghy

meditation difficult due to pain so find one simple mind focusing thing to do. It takes practice so do not get stressed because it is not a quick fix.

if focusing on your body too difficult, try visulations as in Lamaze for child birth to move your mind away.

sending before disappears again and can not get this copied

better send this before it disappears again. Good luck to all think "this too shall pass"

    which can help it pass!

HI Grace, I am glad that neurological problems have been ruled out, However I did prolapse a disc in my lower back in 1993. My back has had problems ever since. More recently I have had prickling and itching all over my body which occurs at random times and manifests itself in random places. Like you no clear identifiers on the outside of the skin but seems to originate from the nerves inside. I believe this is related to my back and is perhaps a pinched nerve sending out peripheral signals randomly across my body when the nerve is aggravated. Perhaps a visit to a physiotherapist may help who can advise on various stretching exercises to loosen up the troubled area to bring relief and lessen the symptoms. No guarantees obviously, but certainly nothing to lose smile

Hi Sylvia, i have alot of the same symptoms as you. Just found out I have arthritis below my pelvic area. Im thinking this could be the reason for the itchy, needlelike pain. I started going to a Dry Sauna and began a plant based diet. I was told there wasnt anything that can be done about arthritis besides pain management. I refuse to take the meds they prescribed due to the crazy side effects. Hopefully my holisitc methods will take the edge of the symptoms and also completely rid

Very possibly you have a pinched nerve in your case as worn joints tend to create deviations with the structures.

How long did it take for you to fully recover? What were your symptoms? I am trying to take my Shingles diagnosis one day at a time, but I have been experiencing numbness and tingling for 4 months now and I am concerned that it may never end.

Just like so many ppl in this discussion i have had this tingling, sharp, itchy sensation throughout my body for the past couple months. At times i feel it behind my ears, cheeks, neck, back etc. I also have chronic back discomfort. Recently i went to the doc and found out I have arthritis below my pelvic area. Im assuming the symptoms ive been having could be related to arthritis. The steps im taking going forward is a holistic approach. I started a plant based diet as well as started using the Dry Sauna. Ill keep my journey updated as time goes on to see if this takes or minimizes the symptoms.

So, I have had to do all my own research, since the docs don't seem to know anything helpful.  I, too, have had the tingling pins and needles all over my body, a foggy brain, and an unusual sleep disorder (I sleep only when the sun is up) for about 5 years, now.

Through my research I found that low levels of magnesium (even just lower end, like mine) was my cuplrit.  Within about 2 weeks of taking  magnesium I began sleeping earlier and earlier in the night and for shorter lengths of time.  The pain is nearly gone and the tingling, too. Magnesium is a natural way to help heal the nerves and is supposed to help fibromyalgia.

During this same period my heart was skipping beats often and if it lasted too long I would start having trouble breathing.  So, I began taking CoQ10 200mg.  That, too, has calmed down a lot.  I am greatful because I still have 2 months until I see the cardiologist.

OMG I can relate. So the magnesium? Which type because there are many .

I’m going to head to the pharmacy.  my tingling is very high at the moment and is making me very anxious, I just want to cry because I don’t know what’s going on and it scares me I just want relief from it. I am also perimenopausal so I’m wondering if it’s my hormones?   I’m so happy I found this thread he gives me some hope.

Do you have a naturopath in your area that you can work with? Mine has been invaluable navigating through this thing with me. Mine has done a lot of blood work and saliva tests through the process. I kind of feel like self prescribing supplements could have you barking up the wrong tree if that's not what your body needs. Not going to hurt, but might not help either. As far as magnesium goes, you want chelated.

See if you can find someone to work with to do saliva testing for hormone levels. You may need to search around a bit.

Guided meditation helped me feel like I was doing something while we got to the bottom of it. You might try that, too. Several nice apps available. I use Headspace.

Oh, and oral lavender helped me through acute anxiety episodes. The brand I use, recommended by my naturopath, is Lavela.

I have numbness and tingling in my hands and feet which is nothing new for me.  I was testing years ago while supplementing with oral b-vitamins and my b12 was high-normal.  About a month ago, I noticed a cool, sometimes cold spot on the left side of my head, which felt at times like a fan was blowing cool air on that spot.  I went in for a repeat b-12 and my levels were okay and I was still supplementing with oral b12.  The other symptom that I've had for years is brain fog that comes and goes.

I don't believe my b12 results are accurate so I started supplementing with sublingual b-12, 1000mcg. daily and after two weeks my brain fog has improved and my cold spot is gone.

I've done my own research on the reliability of b12 testing and I believe the testing can be off if you are supplementing with b vitamins.  If you doubt your results are accurate, you can request an MMA, urine or serum, or a homocysteine test.

Hi, I have this exact same thing right now and it's sending my anxiety through the roof. I'm so scared that I'm dying and I just can't get the courage to go see my GP because I have a massive phobia of medical tests etc and most of all, hearing that I have a life threatening illness. I just feel so trapped right now. It's really affecting my quality of life. The tingling is all over my body every day lasting only a second or so in each area then moving around. From my head to my toes. My hands and feet sometimes feel numb too especially at night. I'm convinced I have MS but I'm too afraid to be tested I just don't know what to do.

The fear you have has you frozen to the point you can't move. Knowledge is powerful. When you know for sure, one way or another, then you can move forward. You can get the right medications or vitamins to make you feel better. Your PCP will work with you, not against you. Good luck and I wish you all the best.

Thank you! You are so right. I am going to see how it goes over the weekend then make an appt.

I know EXACTLY where you are at, I was nearly paralyzed last year thinking I was dying.  Those sleepless nights frozen by fear were just awful.  I wish I could give you a hug!

But I totally agree with Nana, knowledge is power.  I didn't start coming back out of whatever that was until I started testing and ruling all of the awful things out.  I was petrified of seeing a neurologist, but it turns out that  finally sucking it up and seeing him and then going for an MRI on my brain really set me on the "I'm not dying" path.  Honestly, I think for me it was a "chicken or the egg" sort of thing between anxiety and the physical symptoms - which was first?  And which caused what?   I'm still seeing a rheumatologist for monitoring what looks to maybe be some pre-Lupus-ish levels, but I can totally live with that!  In addition to the supplements I listed a while back, I've also started on bio-identical hormones (I'm 46) and that has helps so much as well!  I'm finally feeling like my old self again, and I hope the same for you!

It was a decently long road of testing that brought me to this point, but ruling out a whole bunch of stuff was key.  Keep us posted!

Thank you so much! You are so tight j guess since know deep down I have to go but I keep putting it off to see if it goes away so I don't have to. But no doubt it will stay. I don't even mind if I have MS I just don't want to doe right now that's all I worry about my children are still so young 🙁I sound so dramatic but this is how my weird mind works. I was wondering if it could be hormones too as I'm on a hormonal injection contraception but I'm unsure if that could cause this. Thank you for your reply and I hope you feel better soon. I will update ASAP xxxx
