Getting really nervous

Hi all,
Only five days to go for colonoscopy, I'm getting so nervous and anxious, imagining all sorts in my head even though I'm trying to stay positive, I suppose if the pain a nd nausea would ease I might feel less frightened, thanks for all your support along the way, hoping for a good result on Thursday

Hi Kate I have have several Colonoscopy's over the years and the only advice I would give you is to have the sedation. You have to stay in the hospital for 2 hours after and have some one to take you home and stay with you all night, but it's better than the alternative. Some people have no problem with it. If you are of a nervous disposition it's the best thing to do. Don't worry, I sure everything will be alright.

Tks Susan for your kind words, I will have sedation, couldnt go without, it's the result I'm afraid of, I've had pain for two months now and been feeling generally yuk

Just wanted to fill you in on something that I have been going through past 2 days, really upset over it. , I had to fill out a bunch of paperwork for new GI Dr. Wanted to know my last colonoscopy date and results, so I called my old GI Dr to get info. It was done back in May 2015 , results 2 sm polys removed and small trace diverticulitis. WTF, he never gave me nothing nor explained nothing bout it to me, said I was fine see u in 5 years. So I called my Dr and they received the results in June 8 and never did a follow up or nothing to educate me on it. So this past 4 months is my first Flare up. So 😡 If I was told what it is and how to change my way of living and eating I maybe would not be in this mess! Just wanted to share with ya . Hugs

Hi vickie I did my colonoscopy July 2015 she diagnosed me with diverticulotis send me home with paperwork ( I still have it) saying it was extremely rare for it to go to diverticulitis and only suggestion was to start consuming more fiber and reschedule in 10 years Having 2 infections in about 10 weeks I finally got into her office and she told me there's no rhyme or reason as to why it progresses into diverticulitis in some people but not in others I'm with you WTF why us !

I so agree, question, so I’m pretty sure I ate something that didn’t agree with me last night I had bad bloating, bad spasms, and gas. Ugh, so uncomfortable 😣 I had a normal bum this morning but still having spasms and gas. How long does it take to settle after you ate something your tummy didn’t agree with? Or is it something else?

Hi kate my leg pain was so bad there were times when I couldn't get up the stairs to lay in the bed my sister worried I had blood clots from inactivity when I went to GI doc She said leg pain is not a part of diverticulitis??? She blamed it on soft food diet Said I was starving myself to death I am eating a bit better now and the leg pain is less frequent but I believe it had everything to due to diverticulitis Try to b positive today take a extra anxiety pill if need b you are so close to getting results wishing you the best 🦋

I’d be the same way with the peeing, felt like uti, maybe check to see if your pelvis is out of lign , it puts weird pressure on bladder if it is. Acupuncture wow I’m going to start right away after colonoscopy. Today I do My fasting and prep, so nervous, and with my anxiety it makes it worse. Going to try hard to meditate, be mindful, breath, yoga, and go for walks. 🙏

Have you lost a lot of weight? I too have horrible leg pain, back and buttocks but only on left side. Thinking pinched nerve from inactivity. But now I wander if it’s related to this DD. Due to the diet you have to be on. Losing muscle mass so fast. I just want an answer hate waiting on all labs and colonoscopy. Not knowing what diet or foods to eat is so frustrating. How long have you been dealing with DD? And can you give me your exact symptoms, and tests you have had done? Maybe I can help in some ways. Or we can just compare and exchange info. 🙏

Hi Kate and Ellen, well that was interesting, but GI and group were amazing! Glad it’s over. Results- had 6 polyps removed and sent to biopsy along with scrape of entire colon for evaluation of colitis. Severe Diverticulosis (3 spots) GI put me on Low FodMat diet along with vitamins- calcium,D,probiotics and a cocktail of Psyllium mucilloid(Metamucil)/ Miller’s wheat bran. Till I see their dietitian. Said to avoid another flare up need fiber. He is also having me checked for SIBO and IBS. My pc Dr, only did a few stool tests, the one for parasites/food poisoning/ salmonella came back normal so waiting on Candida of gut tests still. This is all a bit overwhelming but glad I got cleaned out and some answers, so just going to stick with Low FodMat diet and keep good food journal and try to control my anxiety. Fiber to help not have a flare up. Thank you all so much for your prayers and support. 🌺
