globus - It will go away! - promise

In 2007 I suffered from Globus for 12 months - it got me really down- I couldnt enjoy activities that used to make me happy and was continually worried and thinking the worst.

I saw a number of GP's and got referred to a ENT specialist who checked my throat via a small nasal camera - all clear.

Despite my Dad having this for a while and reassuring me that it does get better I focussed on the symptom and expected it to arrive every day (which it did!)

Gradually it wasn't there one day then would come back - then it may disappear for a few days and then come back - it is a gradual process but once you stop obsessing about it , it will improve. I promise.

My GP treated it as a symptom of anxiety and prescribed prozac - which had no effect. Much as I hate to admit it - my fiancee was right to keep telling me to stop obsessing and try and focus on other things - it is the only way to beat this.

Somedays it still makes an appearance (infact thinking about it now I can bring on the sensation!) but you can make it go - focus on yuor good days and know that there will be gradually be more good than bad - it will go I PROMISE!

for years now, I believe since 2005 I do have occurring sensations of a lump in my throat, but after some days or weeks it all goes away, but will come other times.

so scared to go see a doctor cos I suspect several other things.

But for the past two weeks I have been having same sensations but this time the lump seems bigger and it disturbs me and makes me so uncomfortable.

I try not to even talk, though it don't affect my voice, but I feel so stressed.

It's not usually there when I wake up in the morning or when I'm active or having conversations with friends or collegues, it comes back when I'm alone or inactive. sometimes it's bigger.

I don't notice it when I eat or drink, and when I wake up every morning, it's almost not there, but towards mid day I feel it and sometimes bigger.

I feel no pain, just cough sometimes, and mostly scared for it not to be cancer.

Though my head aches sometimes, but sometimes lying on my side gives me relief.

Please is there anything I can do about this? is this symptoms of something else?

    Hi -

I've had this globus sensation for the last few monthsi’ve read the messages and I’m wondering if anyone’s had success with getting rid of this quickly. I’ve been told acid reflux or it’s in my head. Has anyone dealt with physical therapy for your throat muscles being tight? I’d appreciate any assistance or information you can share with me. As you know how awful this is. It does affect your whole life. thank you

yes it will ease and altbo not completely gone

you cqn carry on its certain foods irritating the throat than because your thinking about it this makes

it worse, ive realised im not going

to choke or stop breathing or throat will close up, you have to help yourself first or it wont get better

      Hi Tracey-

Did you go on a acid reflux diet? You mentioned you take allergy medication . Were you diagnosed with being allergic to a specific food?

      What is the MAGNESIUM for?

I've always been out going not shy as you mentioned about yourself. This makes no sense. I love being social and vivacious. im glad to hear your doing well it gives me hope

i have epilepsy so everyone is saying its my brain

you know its in your head.

i appreciate your time. Did you go on anxiety medication? i don't want to go on anything,

Enough questions from me. I'm waiting to get into a new ENT

I'll let you know how I'm doing. Much gratitude

      for your kindness

      Hi-

How are you doing?I hope better. I'm still going through this. I've had a lot of test- no answers and i'm basically the same. I have digestive issues and I've l lost about 17 lbs and haven't been able to gain it back. It sounds like other women are thinking menopause. I'm not on hormones. I'm post.

I suffered with this for 5 years, and finally found a solution that worked for me. I had very tight neck muscles from stress, working on the computer, and from forward-head posture. Pain would mostly be down the sides of my neck, but sometimes would feel tight at the back of my head, or under my chin. Tried Everything.

Finally tried a new chiropractor who had me use a neck orthotic, a very firm sort of short pillow that goes under your neck. Look up Denneroll. You start with lying on it for a few minutes, !and work up to about 20 minutes. My neck pain went away after 6 wks. But then you still continue to use it. You just lay your neck across it. It's best if a chiropractor tells you exactly where to place it on your neck. Hope that helps.

Yes, the choking feeling went away. My neck muscles can still get a bit tight sometimes, but I can really do a lot now, exercise, work on the computer, housework. I worked hard to reduce stress and tension in my life also. Had all sorts of medical tests done, and it was all due to tight neck muscles (for me). I just lay down with the neck orthotic under my neck, (for about 10 - 15 min.), and that seems to loosen up all the tight neck muscles. Hope this helps you.

      Hi -

Your giving me SO much hope. THIS started the first time i went to a new chiropractor and after my first adjustment the Globus came on. She told me my neck had been so tight and my posture wasn't well as you mentioned but the globus is still here im working on my posture she said to be have patience but hadnt heard of globus

i’m going to see the chiropractor again and have her show me how to use the pillow. She had mentioned something like it but we didnt act on itThis is truly affecting my life as I’ve mentioned. I am working on my diet however I haven’t thought it’s acid reflux but the ENT said it was ill do anything to get rid if itAs everyone has mentioned staying calm im working on it

...ill give this a try and let you know

      In gratitude
