A lot of people getting nothing or low rate with mental health. I Believe it's because they judge you on yr physical ability to walk. Personally I think the planing. Journey question should be applied to people with mental health. As I believe many would struggle with this. Unfortunately many don't Persue or challenge the dwp on this became the anxiety and stress would be to much. But people need to stand up to the bullies dwp, government

I would agree but the health care professionals are useless who assess us , lies and assumptions is what the fabricate

hi thats not true ive got mental health problems and anger issues and was awarded 12 points mobility  due to being a threat to someone  ie cant use public transport i have to take someone with me to unfamiliar places as this would cause stress to me and put others in danger

      Hi,

I have no idea why you're saying this to me, i think your comment was meant for someone else. This thread is over 2 years old originally so it's hard to tell what your point is.

I do actually know that a person can claim Enhanced mobility for mental health reasons because my daughter does. She never goes out alone and if she did she wouldn't know which direction to go in.

I want to know my decision on my pip I know it has been made in wondering can you tell me my results please.

      Hi Michele,

I'm sorry if I'm getting confused here, but I was wondering if you intended to send your message elsewhere.  This is a forum not the DWP.

      Hi Michele,

Sukes is right we would have no idea on any PIP results or any other results as this isn't the DWP. You'll only know the answer to your question if you ring PIP yourself and ask if a decision has been made. If it has then they'll tell you what it is. Good luck and please do let us know the outcome.

I had my PIP assessment visit this week, how long will it take as I have secondary progressive MS and can't work.

Decisions vary depending on where you are in the country. Some take 2 weeks while others take 8 weeks or longer. It's like saying "how long is a piece of string" You can ring DWP and ask for a copy of the assessment report. This will give you some idea on what the decision will be as mostly the Decision Maker goes with that report and awards the same points. Hopefully you sent in plenty of evidence to support your claim? PIP isn't about not being able to work, it's about how your condition/s affect you daily. People work and claim PIP.

If the decision isn't in your favour you'll have 1 month from the date on the letter to ask for a Mandatory Reconsideration (MR) If this is needed then please ask any questions you have, someone will answer you i'm sure. Good luck.

      Well we got turned down.

      We went for reconsideration.

You phone to say you want a mandatory reconsideration.

Then you google appeals in PIP

Then you will find how they score section by section so

      1. I titled each part and underlined it and then said how her condition impacts on her abilities to do daily living.

      2. Part of my daughters 5 autoimmune diseases is celiac diagnosed by biopsy. On the original form I had written gluten free food. I had NOT used the word NUTRITIONAL THERAPY which apparently is where my daughter lost FOUR points.

      Anyways

By the time I had done it all with correct terminology she was scored 30 points instead of zero.

      I also

Found out a general DWP manager assesses the reconsideration not a health professional.

      So

Use medical terminology whenever you can.

Get your CONSULTANT to actually put his/her neck out to support you by actually WRITING a report - ours said to us to write it all down & just send it to PIP So I said, no, PIP want YOU to also write about the impact!

Get all your recent GP visits reports as evidence. costs about £10-15.from your doctors.

If a dietician is involved give name and number.

IF OT is involved use the terminology and again give name and number.

We got awarded in the end as my daughter gets impacted and isolated by her conditions. If you get counselling of medication for depression due to MS having negative impact then they need to know this as it affects your mental

      health.

      Well

I will never get over that gluten free prescribed food scores zero unless you define it correctly as nutritional therapy

They really need to employ Health Professionals!

The original face to face assessor had said my daughter didn't need to carry her emergency insulin or Addisons medication around with her! I was horrified. It's then you realise how at risk they are putting your life too

Denise - wonder if you can help me here as I am rather anxious.  I had a PIPs  face to face assessment two weeks ago now and was told that I would be sent the decision in 2 to 3 weeks.

Today I got a letter telling me my claim has been referred to ATOS by the Decision Maker.

I can't understand why this has happened after already having one assessment - can anyone advise me why this has happened please.  I really would appreciate any information here at all.

      Many thanks.

It's quite possible that there wasn't enough information on the Atos assement form, but can't understand why if a decision has been made would it be sent back to Atos . Ring pip they should be able to advise u

Thanks Jessica - really appreciate your getting back to me - the meeting was thorough and I gave a lot of information and evidence.  But I will be phoning PIPs and the DWP on Monday to ask why I am having two assessments.

      Have a lovely weekend.

Hi Sydney, I'm sorry it took so long to reply but i couldn't find your post. Maybe next time it would be better to start your own post that way they won't get missed on the end of an extremely long thread smile

I totally agree with jessica on this one. There most probably wasn't enough of info so the decision maker has returned it to ATOS to take another look. If you don't have any joy ringing PIP try ATOS. There number is on the front of the letters they've sent you. 2-3 is only a guide it has been know for decisions to take longer than this. It's also been known for files to be returned because of lack of info. Also it doesn't mean you'll be asked to attend another f2f assessment.  Good luck and hope you get some answers.
