Haemorrhoidectomy Hell

Posted , 7 users are following.

I had grade 4 haemorrhoids and skin tags removed Thursday & wish I hadn't had it done! I've never experienced pain like it and that's saying something concidering I've had many ops before that were alot more major! The pain I can't even describe apart from the extreme burning! All I was given was paracetamol and ibruprofen that haven't even touched it and lactalose. Going to go Drs tomorrow as can't go on like this! When I open my bowels I'm literally crying with the pain and it's the smallest of poos I've seen come out of me! I shower my bottom after and warm bath if fiancé home but it's only a short fix. Anyone help me? I'll take any suggestions xx

Ask your dr if you can be prescribed instillagel, iv been through the exact same and this helped my recovery tremendously. Try and eat as you normally would to as the more formed your bm are the quicker you recover. I know it’s frightening as I avoided eating in the hope I wouldn’t need to go, by eating less your bm aren’t the same and the medication doesn’t work the same. I had tramadol, hot baths at least 3 a day along with instillagel with each trip to the toilet, it’s a numbing gel which you apply to the area. You will get better, may not seem it right now but another week or so and you will. Best of luck to you x

Good stuff, give it a day or so and you’ll see the difference. Good luck 😉

My pain in consistent them worsens when I have a bm which still are the smallest in the world but hurt like hell and burns soooo much. Got some bits from my dr today as it's highly infected, I'm now on Jo I'm now on: lactalose, movicol, instillagel, metronidazole, rectogestic rectal ointment, tramadol, paracetamol and naproxen

I just hope it eases soon as I've had enough and exhausted and the op was only 5 days ago sad

I'm now on day 8 of recovery and still in as much pain as I was a week ago sad it's really getting me down, hot baths only temporarily help, I wish I could just lie sideways in the bath 24/7! I'm debating wether to see if my gp can give me anymore pain relief as this is sheer hell sad

Day 8 is still very early in the recovery Rd

Definately get some non constipating pain meds but it’s just time that will heal you hun.

I thought I’d never get there but it does get better. I promise you that.

Just hang in there. Ur doing all the right things.  This is the worst op to have so we’re all survivors

      Xx

What gets me is the surgeon said I'd only need 2 weeks off work, there's no way I'll b going back in 6 days, my gp has said it won't be before new year & that was without the horrible infection I have! Not sure what other pain meds he will suggest as already on naproxen, paracetamol and tram afoul alongside lactalose movicol and antibioticssad xx

Yeah not likely you will return in 6 days

Surgeons always say 2-3 weeks.  They have clearly not had this op themselves....

      It’ll take longer

Can you get paid for more time off??

Only other thing the gp can try is a local anaesthetic cream like lignocaine 2% for added more effective pain relief,.

I will only get statutory sick pay which is not a lot, it's about £70 a week I think.  I won't be rushing back as I'm a carer and bar maid x

I felt the same little bump and thought it was a new hem. The doc told me it was just swelling from the surgery. That sometimes once they cut off the veins because it's been backup the blood rushes where it can.

As for the pain I swear it gets better. The first 12 days I thought , if this is my new normal I don't want to live. But sudden on day 13, it wasn't so bad. I'm now exactly 1 month post op today. And I took my first poop today without needing to get in a bath tub directly after it. And I finally have almost no swelling. I promise it will get better.

If u don't mind me asking did u open ur bowels several times a day? Before op I would go at night before bed and occasionally in the day but since op I go 3-4 times a day but all very small? Think this isn't helping my pain or recovery sad x

Gemma I went several times a day too.  At its worst was 7!! All small amounts and very painful.

That has all stopped too.   I just go twice in the mornings now

I promise you it will get better xx
