Yup I had to be persistant to get an apppointment with Bagla. I made it happen justy like so many other things in life.

I had my plane ticket, motel room all set up before I was confirmed and didn't know for sure unilt 5:15 Friday afternoon and flying down there Sunday early.

I told them that I was coming no matter what.

I'm peeing better, stronger stream, a little less frequency. They told me that it is highly unusual to improve so quickly but some do. Also that you can have improvements and then get bad again in the first several months.

Hi Chris, everything's great. You know what the best thing is? .Its that I don't think about peeing at all now whereas before it used to dominate my thoughts.  Its not normal to have urination on your mind all the time. No pills sleep through most of the night....get up once is all.

Wishing you all the best...keep us posted. The more of us that have a PAE we can be a source of information and knowledge for others who are afflicted by BPH.

I had my PAE 3 1/2 months ago. It is still amazing. As Caringbah said the nice best thing is I no longer thing about peeing at all. It just happens. My prostate has shrunk 38% and my PSA dropped from a high of 22 to 1.9. I wish this had been available 10 years ago so I would not have gone thru all the frustration and the horrible side effects fro BPH medicines.

Im so glad all is going well for you I cant wait to have mine done, as you said peeing is always on your mind whether it be waiting for it to come out and getting disapointed by the outcome, dribbling all of it ! or worrying about where the next public toilet is ? its horrible I even downloaded an app on my phone to show me where the public toilets are wherever Im going its pathetic. Ayone out there reading this dont get butchered by these urologists there is an alternative welcome to the age where you have to research for yourself for your own healths sake dont believe everything you are told by so called specialists or doctors !! its either that or be butchered.... I will keep everyone updated for sure smile

Ha Ha...I know exactly the app you're talking about. I was so bad I used to carry a CSR caster sugar bottle in the car. Makes an ideal pee bottle. I got quite skilled at whipping out little Pete at red lights and dribbling into it.

Now when I first think of peeing I can go at least an hour before I have to go?

This is a TURP free zone !  :-))

Chuck, I have been following your comments and have found this very interesting. I am considering having the PAE procedure.  I hope your symptoms have improved  now. It has been almost 10 months. How are you doing now? i hope you are much improved and if not, I think perhpas a followup, second procedure might help.  Please give us your update and thanks again for all the information in this thread.

I am 6 weeks out from my PAE.

I am sooo freaking happy that I had it done.

As they say peeing like a race horse.

I wish that they were being done 10 years ago.

Hi Bill I was wondering if after the PAE if you experienced any pain or discomfort in your prostate area?

      Thanks

Lou , I had my PA E two months ago. The first three days were quite uncomfortable....burning , urgency, low level pain but on the fourth day that all cleared up. I'm delighted with the results.....strong flow ...get up once a night, no incontimence, no impotence, no retrograde ejaculation, stronger erections.

In hindsight I wondered why I persisted with flomax and supplements. All that was just tinkering around the edges with minimal results.

in in terms of improvement  on a scale of 1 to 100 , the flomax came in at 5, the saw palmetto came in at 1, the PAE came in at 95!

Hi Caringbah, thanks for the reply. That is what I have heard about side effects after PAE. Glad It worked out for you. I had some surgery so my PAE has been delayed.

      Best wishes

      Lou

I had very little discomfort after mine.  Did have bruising (spreading Black and blue) around my mid section but it cleared up in a wekk or two.  Some soreness at the inscision point but that cleared up in about the third week.  About two weeks in, I had a tiny amount of blood in seman (made it yellowish in color) but that only lasted a week.

have one question .. before PAE, they want us to get an MRI. I am sure you had to do that too. Did you have an open MRI or was it a closed one? I am Clausterphobiac and would prefer to get an open MRI done, but just wondering if that will serve the purpose.

      Would appreciate a comment

      Hi Pete,

I did have the MRI.  It was closed.  I'm only mildly claustrophobic.  The key for me was not opening my eyes at all.  I focused on my slow breathing, had one of my better meditation sesssions and actually enjoyed it!  They give you headphones and will pipe in most any type of music you want.  I went without the music.  Good luck!

did you have an open MRI or was it closed one? I am wondering if  open MRI is sufficient for this procedure ..pls comment

I would discuss this wherever you plan on having it done. That you are claustrophobic, what are your options.  There has to be others like you that have the same problem.  I didn't think that I was claustrophobic, but I did find the the process somewhat uncomfortable.  The MRI is not always quiet when it is moving.  I had no idea it would take so long.  I felt a draft of air about 30 minutes in.  It did bother me and I took a break at that time.  The tech said it was the fan kicking on because it was getting warm.  This was never explained to me before hand.  The tech did a poor job.  I would prefer an open MRI if this is possible.  This is my honest opinion.  Others may have no problem with the procedure. Would a transrectal ultrasound of the prostate be sufficient?  Your doctor would know what is sufficient for his needs.

Sorry Pete, I just noticed your comment. sorry for the delay in replying.

No, I did not have an MRI...I can't as I have a pacemaker. They did a CT angiogram ...I saw the imagery afterwards ...it was spectacular and in 3D and in color. The doc was easily able to follow the arteries from these images. So the upshot is that MRI' s are not essential.

Mine was closed. I kept my eyes closed and kept myself relaxed. Thinking good thoughts. I did almost get clostrophobic but talked my way out of it.
