Ct scan showed that I have thickening of gallbladder lining (with no gall stones) and specialist recommended removing the gall bladder.

Has snyone had their gallbladder removed because of thickened gallbladder lining even though there ate no gall stones found?

Could you share your experience good or bad after the surgery and post recovery?

Appreciate your responses. Would help me decide whether to go ahead or not. I have not felt any pain.

I had a scan for kidney stone (found 1 around 11mm in size) and gallbladder lining thickening was discovered too.

yep.  Mine had no stones but was damaged from chronic cholecsystitis.  I was nauseated all of the time.  I am much better without it.

I had gallbladder removed 7 days ago and recovery has gone exactly to plan, home after 4 hours

    No pain/infection

    slight bloating reducing daily

    no nausea

Eating /drinking all ok(not pushing my luck with fat or alcohol)

    No tiredness.

    Sleeping perfectly

Back to office work day 3

In fact too good to be true so far, pure textbook recovery.

I had my gall bladder removed 2 years ago and Yes, I am glad I had it removed.  It was inflamed and full of gall stones.  I had difficulty eating  and constant digestion problems.  It even hurt when I went running.  I didn't really have a choice, I needed to have the surgery - the gall bladder was attached to my liver and my liver was leaking enzymes.  It was also attached to my pancreas and the bile duct was fused to my large intestine .  I ended up having open surgery because it was such a mess.

I am happy to report that my liver is completely healed (the enzyme levels are normal).  I can go running without pain and I feel really good.  I do have to watch what I eat, but I am ok with that (it is a small price to pay for good health).

Well.... now I'm terrified.  I am supposed to schedule gallbladder removal due to multiple gallstones, that have most likely been developing for years.  I've had digestive issues for some time now as well as a little fat in my liver.  Cholesterol  and everything else is good.  My weight is normal other than the belly bloat.  Occasionally get those severe night time pains that keep me up all night, but daily feel dis-comfort.  Not over-weight but also not the healthiest eater.  Eat what's quick, easy & convenient at the time.  I try in small ways, drink 1% milk, try to moderate the dairy and fatty foods.  My reality is I will not be able to tend to a strict diet, it's just not gonna happen.  Surgeon said after healing from the procedure, I should have no issue's but after reading all the comments, I'm not so sure.  How does he know?  I want to feel normal and comfortable but worried that having the procedure is just trading one set of problems for another.  I definitely do not want to have to worry about running to the bathroom after every meal.  I can deal with moderation but based on past experiences I am  not convinced that I would be one of the lucky ones to come out of it all well & dandy.  ooohhh.... what to do.....

      Tracimarie.

      really well don’t be.

ive had a 2.2cm stone stuck in the neck of my gallbladder for 3 years and it’s been sheer hell to say the least but I’ll not bore you with all that stuff.

now I ended up knowing I was close to death 💀 and I was indeed pretty darn ill and I knew it I could feel it.

i went paid for a cat scan as the s**t diabolical useless parasites of the nhs refused to give me one ,

even to the point of watching crawling around on the floor in we in agony for 20 plus hours on 3 occasions in the last week.

and the parasite consultant at the hospital just kept saying ,what would you like us to do for you today !!!!!

anyway I managed to get a cat scan in Harley street dropped the disk to the best or very near damn it surgeon in the U.K. as ide had a 15 min consultation with him some 3 months prior.

and he called me the following morning and told me I need to get to him like now as I’ve hours to live.

i went to the private hospital paid my 6k and off to theatre I went ,woke up 1 hour 20 mins later with him telling me I’m very lucky to be alive ,however it all went very smoothly, with no complications at all and I should now be fine.

following morning he came to discharge me and told me my gallbladder was gangrene and full of pus and he had to aspirate the puss out it from inside me ,which he did with not a drop spilt and no blood loss.

im now 4 months post opp and eating anything I want .

tonight I had a mince beef and onion pie with mash carrots and peas  then trifle  no probs !!!

that was after going for a 3 mile half walk half run !!

      im 53 smoke 40 a day .

so don’t be scared. BUT DONT LEAVE IT IN ,AS IT WILL LIKELY KILL YOU MY DEAR !!

      best wishes.

I had my gallbladder removed 3 months ago with very little side effects after the initial open surgery. And as the months went on, I have had and continue feeling great! My gallbladder along with gallstones were at a point where the Doctor recomended open surgery. I was in bad medical shape! Prior to this surgery, I was at 82 kilos or 182 pounds. After the surgery, the doctor had a good medical talk about what to expect( good and bad) after the surgery. We agreed that I needed to lose weight, excerise, well balance healthy meals, unstress myself, positive thinking, and enjoy life, meals and beverages in moderation. Now! I am at 143 pounds or 62 kilos...and I feel great! It took a lot of stamina on my part, patients, work, to bring myself to this point and I continue to work at it...because...I wanted to live, not die at 64 years and retired! And this occured in Mexico. My second adpotive country, with the USA as my first, for my retirement. I have free medical services and after my surgery, I did not pay a single penny for my medical services. So, I feel great, and will continue to follow my health plan.

I had my surgery almost 5 months ago and it's been hell.

I can barely eat anything without feeling terrible bloating and sickness

straight after the tiniest amount of food. Then I get pain in my stomach ,

pain in my ribs both back and front .I'm really struggling with finding

foods I can tolerate , everything seems to cause me problems.

Weight is dropping off me . I'm sorry I had my gallbladder removed.

I know you can die with a sick gallbladder but I'm not living now , just existing.

Hi Linda we seem to have the same problems!! I had my gall bladder removed 9 days ago and I see no difference in my bloating, belching or gas that started 5 mo ago. I struggle to find just one food that won’t make me feel like I gained 10 lbs in an hr!! Very frustrated at this point

No struggling to eat most of the day, just nibbling dry foods. Fodmap worth trying if you can look it up. I think that helped the bowel side a bit.

      Mary.

sorry to tell you but their is no such thing as a gallbladder transplant !!!

also I’m sure your gallbladder would not have been removed unless it was diseased or had gallstones or polyps !!!

the surgeon could not have operated on you without either your consent or that of a guardian if your disability renders you unable to make these decisions for yourself.

so I assure you it was carried out legally Mary .

what pains are you still experiencing Mary ?

      what is your disability?

      what is your age ?

you state that after leaving the hospital your mother would not allow you to return home !!

so where are you now Mary ?

this is an interesting one ?

      im curious Mary.

      tell me more !!!

i also had mine out in September 2017

however if I did not I would have died in some hours.

but I also am in pain most of the time and I have trouble going to the toilet also.

come back to me Mary tell me more !!
